According to my perspective, I think the most important thing I have learned was to know the process of admission to get into MSW and Nursing program. Earlier, I had no idea about a nurse’s or a social worker’s academic and admission criteria’s. However, now I know such as that before getting into the nursing program, a student has to take the placement exam, known as TEAS examination. Also, a nurse cannot practice nursing as an intern before they graduate, on the other hand we as a student pharmacist can practice pharmacy as an intern after successful completion of P-3 year and we also get an intern license. A social worker has to take LMSW exam to practice their profession. I think it is important that we know all these basic informations
In my current role as a nurse educator I feel the desire to pursue my dream of obtaining a master’s degree, specializing in nursing education. It has been 27 years since I have sat in the student chair in a classroom; therefore, I anticipate a number of challenges and barriers to overcome. In this paper I will present and describe three challenges that I expect to be faced with over the next two years. I will also discuss the strategies I plan to use to address these challenges.
In chapter one, page fifteen, I was intrigued by the quote, "I looked at my house in which I had spent years seeking my God, fasting to hasten the coming of the Messiah, imagining what my life would be like later. Yet I felt little sadness. My mind was empty."(Wiesel 15) This passage really caught my attention because, in the quote it shows how affected they really were. in this quote he's saying that, as hard as he tried to have faith in his god and pursue to the future of freedom, it gets harder and harder to have the faith when you have nothing left. I really thought this quote was interesting because it gives perspective on how affective this event was for the Jewish, they not only were leaving everything they had behind, but some of the faith and religion they carried with them.
The Vista courthouse experience was very informative. The only downside to this experience was not being able to stay and watch the proceedings in department 14. I really enjoyed watching how easily department 14 flows with the high volume of people. I didn’t understand the codes they were using, which made it harder to know what people were being charged. One thing I did notice just by sitting and trying to understand the codes was the appearance of everyone. Most people looked a little dishevel and like they were part of the lower SES. Another thing I noticed was the ability to navigate the court system that people displayed. It is easy to say that many of those people were not first timers. Most of them most likely have a length criminal
Upon entering into Barry University (B.U.), I was an insecure black African- American woman full of passion coupled with a myriad misconceptions of what I thought social work consist of. However, during my two years as a undergrad student I learned that those misconceptions had kept me stagnant in facing and understanding my past traumatic events of life that could have had an negative effected on further clients and how I interact with others. For that reason, I would say my best experience in Barry’s BSW program was an assignment that I had to partake in called the Cultural Journal. This assignment not only hope me to learned about my cohorts’ culture as a Philippine woman, I learned that our culture had a lot in common such as that the
Throughout the quarter in UWP 1, I have learned that good writing takes time and multiple drafts to develop. In all of my assignments, I have revised and made at least 3 drafts before submitting the final. With each draft, I noticed improvement in focusing on one main topic. For example, in my literacy narrative, I was confused with the prompt at first, so my first draft was confusing where I talked about multiple experiences in high school. However, after going through peer reviews and edits, I decided on a single event that affected my writing the most, which was my Sophomore year of high school. The college literacy project focused on presenting information towards an audience. Before this class, I thought the best way of presenting information would be in the form of a text or essay, but after using a PowerPoint for my college literacy assignment, I was proven wrong. Giving advice to students is best presented in a clear, and straightforward manner, and PowerPoint
It was a great challenge and sacrifice to return to school to acquire my Master Degree in Nursing with specialization in Nursing Informatics. During this MSN program, I coped between working full time, raising my son and daughter, taking care of my sick and aging parents but yet I managed to participate in discussions and submission of my assignments. The journey became though at some point that I had to take a three months break and decided not to return. Thanks to my educational adviser who was very encouraging and supportive, I resumed classes with the goal of achieving my MSN in Nursing Informatics. After the completion of my BSN, my plans were to further my studies to become a nurse practitioner. I did apply to a couple of nursing school in my area but the admission process was taking too long. While I was waiting, a friend informed me about American Sentinel University (ASU) MSN program which I decided to pursue because of their affordable tuition and outstanding nursing program.
My experience during the CATW field exam was unbelievable, even though the proctor had the time off. However, it was easier to relate the article “Anticipation and Happiness” to my former high school involvement. Reading this article helped me acknowledge that many high school students try to accomplish their goals for their transition to college.
As I started by Bachelors of Science Nursing (BSN) program, I was very apprehensive about things that I was going to learn. I felt that I was already a very good nurse, and that obtaining my BSN was just paperwork. Little did I know how much I would learn in the first class, Nursing Transitions, at Viterbo University. I have learned that obtaining my BSN will enhance not only my educational experience, but will make me more holistic, enhance my communication styles, and strengthen my ability to do research more readily.
CPSW did supervised visit for Mr. Stark on October 14th, October 18th, and October 27th. Ms. Mauer attended each supervised visit with her child Kaison and she has been very interactive and affectionate with her child Kasion. Currently, Ms. Mauer has been offered supervised visits by the FITS twice a week for two hours. FITS worker reported that Ms. Mauer is engaged and interactive with her child. Ms. Mauer had supervised visit with Kaison on November 1th, November 3th, November 8th, November 10th, and November 15th and all visit went well. The worker reported that Ms. Mauer participated each session and has not missed any supervised visits.
WLD 992 teaches me techniques on thesis writing, sources analysis, and evidence incorporation in writing. Now instead of wasting time on writing a long and complicated thesis statement, I learned how to convey my main idea through a simple but clear sentence with specific reasoning; this significantly decreases my time in writing the introduction during timed writes, and now knowing that I could write better thesis in less time greatly reduces my fear for the timed WLD 57 final. The group reviewing and revising for evidence and paragraph were especially useful as I observed how others incorporate and analyze a piece of evidence. Moreover, after weeks of learning about fake news, I no longer accept any news without doubting the credibility of
This week I have been continuing to work on my 2F lap joints using the GTAW process. Every day I am slowly improving and recently I have been able to produce an almost perfectly acceptable weld. However it still needs work, so I will continue practicing next week. I also used the Oxy-fuel torch to cut off the old plate that was on my joint holder in booth number 35. I then got a cut off disk for the grinder from Mr. Uff and used it to cut off the excess that I could not cut with the torch, due to not having enough room. I got a piece of 1/4" think plate that Mr. Uff said I may use and I welded it in place of the old plate by using the SMAW process with a 3/32" 7018 electrode. I only welded a bead approximately 2 inches so that it will be easy
I believe the MS Nursing Informatics courses have established the awareness of the responsibilities and roles of being a citizen and strategies for being involved in a democratic society as nurses. The core courses of Diverse Populations and Health Care, and Legal/Ethical Health Care Management were the primary courses that demonstrated and taught the outcome of citizenship the most. I feel I have met these requirements
Based on my values assessment and comparison review to the NASW set of values, I am on target with many of the values of the NAWS organization. I need to further reflect my stance on topic the areas of transgender and immigrates, however mostly I need additional information on the topic discussions to better formulate an opinion.
The idea of returning to school to master new skills to compete in the workplace is an excellent goal for any working adult. However, it is important for the working adult to understand success is base upon the journey taken and the path chosen by someone. One must realize there will be many barriers and difficulties along the way; however, with dedication, ability to prioritize, and motivation to stay focus, I will succeed and graduate with my Master degree in Nursing in October 2017. For me to be successful in achieving this goal, there are different pathways that I must chose and followed. These are assessing my learning styles, finding ways to manage my time, money, and stress, and setting S.M.A.R.T goals.
I am striving to achieve professionalism and growth in roles and values while going through the bachelor’s degree in nursing program. I plan on taking each class one at a time, try to do my best, and gain the knowledge needed to grow in the nursing profession. By October 2010, I should obtain my bachelor’s degree in nursing, which will provide new opportunities, such as management, and educator positions. A bachelor’s degree in nursing will provide the opportunity to further my education to a master’s degree level.
