Since childhood we are asked as children by adults what we want to do as a career. As children we give answers like doctors or teachers. As years go by and high school graduation looms some of those teenagaers still have the same careers in minds as they did as kids. While for many teenagers there dream career has changed many times. During college many of these teenagers pick majors that suit their interests and they know what they want to do for the rest of their lives. Then there are people that pick a major because they are interested in the field, but do not really know what they want to do with their degree, I am definitely one of those people.
One of the careers that I thought was interesting to me was a career as a exercise

Graduate school has been on my mind a lot lately. One of the schools that I am looking at is East Stroudsburg University. ESU offers a master degree in Exercise Science where Clinical Exercise Physiology . ESU offers both classroom and laboratory experience that studies trends of rehabilitation of patients with cardiopulmonary and metabolic disorders while assigning these patients with exercise programs. In this master program study also get student experience through clinical rotations. Some of the admission requirements for ESU an overall GPA of 2.5, and 3.0 GPA once a student enters the program, three letters of recommendation and a written “Statement of Intent”. Another school I would be interested in going to is Bloomsburg University. Bloomsburg offers just a master degree in Exercise Science. Bloomsburg offers a non-thesis option where students gain practical experience in internship and thesis option where laboratory experience is gained during a student time in the Exercise Science program. The academic requirements for Bloomsburg are QPA 2.7-2.99 will be accepted but also GRE may be requested, once in the program a student must obtain a 3.0 G.PA. Students also must have a bachelor degree in biological or allied health science and they must also must have taken Anatomy and Physiology I & II and Exercise Physiology is required.
In a career of Exercise Physiology I would want to work with athletics in a university
Some people grow up knowing exactly what they want to do; I, on the other hand, do not know exactly what career path I am going to take, but I have learned that is okay. I went through most of high school presuming that I had to have my life planned out by my senior year and I recently realized that was an unrealistic expectation to put on myself.
The one question almost every young child or teenager asks themselves is, “What do I want to be when I’m older?” For many, the question remains unanswered, but for the ones who have researched careers, they may already know. Everyone has different interests; therefore, everybody will most likely want to do a different career. In life, people don’t normally end up working with their friends from high school or college; they branch off into their careers and may never really talk to them again. People do not choose careers from what their friends want to do. People choose from their interests in life, so researching careers is important when finding a job. The world of careers is massive: doctors, teachers, chiropractors, bankers,
In life we are asked the same question over and over again until we can decide. In elementary school we are asked what we want to be when we grow up and most of us answered things like princess, astronaut, artist, rock star, and actor. Then when we got into middle school we started actually thinking and most of us wanted to be doctors, veterinarians, or something along those lines, but we realized that that takes a lot of work. Once high school came along things were real, life was becoming something that we had to do and it wasn’t just an option. Many people decided what they wanted to be early on in their high school career, they didn’t have any idea whatsoever, or they were like me and had many different options just floating around up
Ask any kindergarten student what the want to be when they grow up and a multitude of professions will be shouted. Ask the same group of students that question when they are in third grade and again there will be numerous shouts of different professions from public service to entrepreneurship. Chances are also very high that the answer has changed for more than one of the students. That is how it was for me; I never gave the same answer to the question until just recently. I now know the answer to the age old question of, “what do you want to be when you grow up?”, and my answer is, “I want to be a registered nurse.”
Numerous students are unsure of what they aspire to be when they graduate High School, most wait until their junior or senior year to thoroughly ponder it, some even wait until they’re already in their first or second year of college. Then in college, 50%-70% of students change their major at least three times before they graduate. Finding or even thinking about sticking to something, like a career for a long period of time can be intimidating for anybody. That’s why I personally think it’s preferable to at least have a slight idea, in order to somewhat know the necessary classes to take to stay on the right path.
According to the 16 Personality test, my personality type is the defender. I possess the feeling trait and have excellent analytical skills. I have well-developed people skills and strong social relationships. Even though I’m the judging type, I am also receptive to change and new ideas. According to my Career Cruising results, I should become some type of counselor or therapist. Surprisingly, my suggested careers were pretty accurate to what I want to pursue. However, Career Cruising did not hint at any careers in criminal justice or forensic science as it has in previous years. For my Day-on-the-Job, I job shadowed Officer Brian Farlin and Detective Michael Neering to get a sense of working with crime since that has always interested me.
A normal day includes: laying out all surgical tools to ensure they are in good working order, sharper knives and scalpels when necessary, transfer the body to examination table or refrigeration unit, assist the pathologist during the examination, and identify information on the patient
Most adults go to college for one profession then find it’s not their thing and change their major. If high schoolers are to pick one when there are still aspects of them that are changing then their career choice is going to change too. As I found out throughout middle school I kept changing my interests along with my career choice. One month I would want to be a vet and the next a nurse. It was non-stop and I couldn’t make up my mind. If I would have had to pick one it would have been so stressful and something I wouldn’t be something I would have wanted to do forever or even the next month. Minds of thirteen-year-olds are constantly changing and because of that, it is stressful to know what they will want to do for their
Picking a career can be very difficult and overwhelming. Many adolescents have that problem after graduating High School. How do you know what you want to do for a living for the rest of your life? Many students go to college picking a career that they think fits them , and end up graduating with another major. I believe that you have to be happy with what your going to major in. If your not truly happy with the career your going for your going to have a miserable life. The problem is many people pick a career that is going
As a first step, I would like to be a personal trainer and running coach. I’m also looking into corporate wellness as a next step.
The post- millennial generation has a lot more to consider when choosing a future career than the generations before did as well. Students graduating from high school come from a place with strict rules and an inflexible syllabus. These students are only now given the freedom to think for themselves and to discover who they are, what their skills are and what they are passionate about. It is more beneficial for students to establish a foundation in an array of disciplines before declaring a major. A foundation is defined as "the basis or groundwork of anything." (Dictionary.com, LLC) Since youth (the average 1st/ 2nd-year student is about 18-20 years old) have developing minds that change every day and, therefore, their interests will change according to who they are at that given time.
Throughout my entire high school life I have always chosen different career choices. At a time I wanted to be a lawyer, physical therapist, pharmacist, and an athletic trainer. I didn’t choose any of them either because it too many years in school to complete or centered on a subject that wasn’t my strong suit. I chose to major in Business Administration with a concentration in finances because I always imaged myself in an office setting holding a high position especially as a young women.

When it comes to choosing a career path there are various questions one must consider. What do I want to do for the rest of my life? How much money will I make? What population will I work with? What kind of skills will I need? For me, I knew very early on that I wanted a career that focused on helping people. This budding interest to help others, coupled with the suicide of a close childhood friend is what lead me to pursue a career in social work. After starting the BSW program here at Wayne State University, I knew that I had made the right career choice. However, I soon learned that if I wanted to be the best social worker that I could be, I would have to further my education and obtain my master’s degree.
I decided on The Marine Corps and being a Firefighter as my two careers because I’m really passionate about both of them. Most of my family has been in the military. Since I was a kid I have always wanted to join the Marine Corps. I also really like Firefighters because just like the marines they risk their lives almost every day and i have much respect for everyone that serves to help others in the line of duty. No one really inspired me going into any of these career paths except for my family because they try to push me to my full potential. I feel like these careers can push me to have higher and better goals then what i have now. Although becoming a Firefighter would be amazing I feel that joining the military would be more satisfying as a career path.
