This internship experience has been an amazing experience! I wouldn 't have wanted to spend it under the wing of anyone other than Mrs. Doss. She has so many wonderful teaching abilities and has ashared so many wonderful experiences with me that I am sure anyone would be thankful for. I am grateful for each and every opportunity that has been given to me during this experience. I have learned so many great things this semester it is hard to really sit and think of them all. If I had to pick a few I would say the most important factor would be to be flexible. You are always going to have things that come up that is going to cause your plans to be pushed back or not go as planned. As a teacher you have to be ready for anything and everything, always have a plan B in your back pocket to use. Another thing that I feel I have learned that is important for any intern to know is to plan, plan, plan! Always be prepared, because if you are not it is going to show in your daily work and the students will know it. They can tell when you prepared and when you are not so take the time and plan your day out. You will be so thankful that you did. I have also learned that it is important to collaborate and get to know your fellow teachers and administrators. Befriending someone is the easiest way to begin to feel comfortable in a new area. Once you feel comfortable with one another you can then feel comfortable to start collaborating with one another. Collaboration is key when working in a

During both my internship and my pre-internship classroom experience, I have had students with suspected Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). One was in the process of being diagnosed with Alcohol Related Neurodevelopmental Disorder, the other was suspected to have partial Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. Though both students were quite different, they did share some commonalities. Both had trouble with following directions and trouble with memory. I also had trouble reaching both in the classroom as they needed more individual instruction than I could give them. There were often times I felt like I was making no difference at all, which was devastating as a teacher. These students though the most challenging have made the most lasting impact

My internship at FuturePerfect Ventures has been an incredible learning experience and a stepping-stone for a fulfilling career path. I have known that I wanted to pursue a career in financial communications before I even started the internship search process. My experience at FuturePerfect Ventures not only solidified my desire to work in this specific industry but also gave me the opportunity to build on my existing skills and allowed me to have first-hand experience in this area. Thus, my internship at FuturePerfect Ventures has been, in many ways, more than a learning experience but also what Nathaniel Kolac, the author of the Harvard Business Review article, “Build a Career Worth Having, refers as a valuable stepping stone, one of the many experiences that help create the path to a successful, fulfilling career.

I was able to be successful in this internship because I had to utilize and develop many new skills. I used my interpersonal skills such as: coping strategies; peer relationships and effective social skills; communication, problem-solving techniques, decision-making, conflict resolution, how to work in a team, where everyone depends on each other and a lot of patience. I developed many new skills such as multitasking, problem solving/decision making, and leadership qualities. I learned that I am a role model. It is important to develop a good relationship with students; however, I must keep in mind that I am expected to behave myself in a professional manner at all times. My goals for the start for my internship were simple, but quickly evolved. My goals were to gain experience and build my resume, while bringing the lessons I have learnt in college, and using my skills as an engineer to help the department of public works. Now my goals have become more specific; I would like to learn more about sewer operations, I would like to develop my computing and design skills using the tools available to the Hydraulic section and I would like to mature as an engineering professional. While at the hydraulics section, I have access to programs like MUNSYS, as well as ArcGIS. As an intern, I update and maintain sewer related features on these programs. I would like to learn everything I can to develop my skills as a designer to help me become a better engineer.
