My while the whole internship itself was very enjoyable and I learned a lot from it. I think I learned the most from my weekly meeting with Officer Tolosa. Officer Tolosa really helped me in understanding a lot of the procedures of the police and how they went about things. He was also amazingly helpful when it came to discussing my career ambitions and trying to find a job out of college. He showed me multiple websites and ways to find out if certain departments were hiring which I applied for a few of. He was very beneficial when I was applying for RUPD. He critiqued my resume and cover letter so that I would have a decent chance of getting at least one interview. He was also helped me meet more of the brass because they are only around during
My hours were good and well worth it. Most of the time I just followed my mentor around but it was still very fun. The other half of it we sat there and talked and I would ask questions like how is it being a fireman and if it's hard and stuff like that. I also was able to go on a ride along with them which I found very cool and fun. I also got to meet some of my mentors co-workers and they are very cool people. I also got to learn about them also like how there child hood was and what made them want to be a fireman.
I’m applying for the Indiana State Police internship solely because I want to learn more about policing and get a realistic feel about my possible future career. I’m currently studying Criminal Justice at the University of Southern Indiana and I’m also a Volunteer Firefighter at Perry Township Fire Dept. With me currently being a junior in college, I feel that I should know which career path I’m going towards. I’m stuck between wanting to be a Police Officer and wanting to be a career Firefighter. I’ve done two ride alongs within the past two years. One with a Vanderburgh County Sheriff and another with a city officer in Jasper, Indiana. Those ride alongs were somewhat helpful but I’m wanting to gain more experience than just 10 hours in a patrol car. I want to learn all the in’s and out’s including what happens in the office, dispatch, and
I have written formal bail reports from a handwritten report, filled out forms for illegal immigrants, open files into their program (PACTS) and follow up with defendant’s third party custodian to check if they have any problems or changes to report to the court. I have also learned that I am afraid of public speaking. I believe this internship will help me overcome it before it is over. To be in a Law Enforcement position, we have to have confidence and good oral skills to communicate with others. I definitely recommend this internship for Criminal Justice students who are interested to learn about the federal system and would like to get good connection for the future. I have expressed my interest to continue working with them after the internship is over. I believe students should know more about the Pretrial Services, and what it
Interning at the FBI is one of my most meaningful experiences because it gave me the opportunity to serve in my community, learn how to effectively communicate between the intelligence community and the outside community, as well as strengthened my leadership skills.
As the internship program and the training intended, I have learned much related to my major, Criminal Justice. This internship helped me to acknowledge that qualified, knowledgeable professionals are needed by our complex society to define, administer, and put our rules and standards into force. Like jobs in any other field, to work in the field of law requires expertise. Trained experts are the most desirable to be hired by organizations, tasked to manage justice, to direct their operations. By writing articles for the legal website, I learned to assess law enforcement situations orderly. I learned to make use of the basic legal and management theories to analyze the situations. I got the opportunity to show my understanding of the key process in the U.S. criminal justice system. I also learned to combine approaches from management, law, and the behavioral science to apply them to the situations I was studying.
As a Sunnyside Police Explorer, I learned about teamwork and matured emotionally. I was able to job shadow police officers and attend a leadership academy. I had the opportunity to work with 12 team members to make sure each of us were aware of the expectations,
The main task of my internship was to gain more experience and knowledge of our respective field. Overall, the experience proved to be both enjoyable and rewarding. During this internship I used the skills that I learned from my Medical Assistant class and used them in the real world scenarios at the hospital. Also while I there I was exposed to new experiences. Such as performing Urine test on Drug and alcohol patients. For this procedure I had to stand in the restroom with the patient's and watch them urinate into a cup. I had to stand in the restroom with the patients because in the past they try and cheat the system. For example
My internship for the Iowa Lake Criminal Justice program has come to an end. I did my internship in the field of law enforcement with the Spirit Lake Police Department. It has been a lot of fun to be apart of the Spirit Lake Police Department. I have learned so much more than I thought I would and I’m so thankful that I got the opportunity to do the internship. For My internship I got to do 240 hours with the SLPD. I was able to do a number of things with them like ride alongs, community policing events, and spend time in the dispatch center seeing how call get to them and then sent out to the officers.
It’s been a pleasure to spend time with Officer Trapp every Friday at D.A.R.E. He has taught us so much, and I have taken some very valuable lessons from that. D.A.R.E. has been a great experience for me, because I learned about drugs, making decisions, and new vocabulary words.
For my internship, I served under the Allegheny County Health Department in Pittsburgh, PA. I served as the National Health Corps Member for the Women, Infants, and Children Program as their Care Coordinator for all nine offices. Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a supplemental nutrition agency that targets pregnant and postpartum women and young children ages 5 and under who are at risk of malnutrition. My supervisor Annie Nagy along with my mentors in the office made sure I was able to receive all of the materials and resources I would need to have a complete and successful internship.
Officer Etheya don’t ever send me a anything telling me about what another Officer says that's the problem now too much gossiping; it’s needs to stop. Furthermore, I never spoke with any Officers about anything that concerns you. However, I did speak with Sergeant L. Davis, so talk to Sergeant Davis about what I said. Otherwise, you can wait and speak to me, I would gladly repeat myself.
During this day I was able to observe on how to make a report for the arrest at the county jail and what information had to go on the report. There had to a summary what had happened, the information from the detainee, and the affidavit report that goes to the judge. During this day I was also able to see what the procedures that the jailers have to follow are. First they get all of your information and your finger prints, and then they search you for anything that is not allowed after they confiscate everything that you had and they put them in a vacuum sealed package that is place in a secure place after that they give the detainees there jail apparel and take their picture. During this internship I was able to experience how well this deputies were well trained for their job and how much experience they had which could help me understand what the life experience of a deputy is like which could help me make a decision in what agency I would like to work for in the
I was able to be successful in this internship because I had to utilize and develop many new skills. I used my interpersonal skills such as: coping strategies; peer relationships and effective social skills; communication, problem-solving techniques, decision-making, conflict resolution, how to work in a team, where everyone depends on each other and a lot of patience. I developed many new skills such as multitasking, problem solving/decision making, and leadership qualities. I learned that I am a role model. It is important to develop a good relationship with students; however, I must keep in mind that I am expected to behave myself in a professional manner at all times. I also learned some of the important skills of a teacher such as: how to provide direct instructions, clarify content, teach skills and answer the students questions; help students identify their skills, abilities, and long term plans regarding education and personal problems.
I was very excited to begin my internship at Paul Hastings, as it was my first real experience in corporate America. I’ve had multiple internships before, but I never felt like I was pushed into a better professional. Upon beginning this internship, I was looking forward to a challenge and that is absolutely what I got.
It has been a while since I started at the internship and I am really glad I decided to work here. I think the experience in this area is a good preview of my career and future. I am learning some important skills and finding out some things about myself and the tough skin I will need in order to stay in the area of juvenile support.
