ISTE STANDARDS
My first impression of the new ISTE Standards was that they are more student centered, but much more extensive. The titles of the new categories give more power to the students which is logical because the use of technology to transform student learning should be the focus of each of these standards.
KEY CONCEPTS YOU BELIEVE ARE MISSING (COMPARED TO THE 2007 STANDARDS)
The only concept that is missing compared to the 2007 standards is the technology operations and concepts section. This Standard focused on students understanding technological concepts and how to actually use applications properly. I believe this was almost completely cut in the new model because in 2016 most students will know how to use technology and

I also believe that allowing students to have a role in choosing goals will benefit the students in a way of providing them with a sense of ownership and important role in the classroom setting. The online learning communities are especially useful for the new standards because technology has expanded since 2007 and I believe students will be intrigued and excited about participating in these in pursuit of reaching those learning goals.

This standard is a lot like research and information fluency from the old standards, but I find it necessary to keep this standard. It is extremely important for students to learn how to use digital tools to analyze information, but I find this standard to be vague in its language. In order for this standard to be more effective, it should have specific ways in which students will create meanings for themselves. To me, this is vague language and the creators could be a lot more specific in this section. Specifically, how will students derive meanings from their findings?
Not only is technology becoming more important for societal success, but so is the importance of being creative which is why this is an important standard to have. I would consider this standard to be the one of the most important out of the seven because of this importance, as well as the processes involved with having students plan, design, solve problems, and work through failures. This standard
In conclusion, all indicators point toward active participation in online discussion a major factor in the final grade a student may receive. All stakeholders, including the facilitator, need to be actively involved at a high cognitive level. This activity increases trust that must be built within a community of learners.
After diving into the CCSS, I have become a full supporter. The Rigor/Relevance Framework integrated into the standards means that they cover demanding content and applicable skills. To be prepared for college curriculum and careers they will have for a lifetime, students need to master the content and skills. These students will “demonstrate independence, build

Today, many states and schools systems are adopting a standards based education system. In fact, according to Common Core Standards Initiative (2014), forty-three states, the District of Columbia, four territories, and the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) have adopted the Common Core State Standards. The premise is that if all critical subject areas follow a standard from state to state, that all students will receive the same and fair education. The Vermont State Board of Education saw a need and a value in implementing such a system. As such, the Board created a strategic plan to implement a framework of standards that would eventually adopt the common core standards. This paper will discuss the strategic plan created by the Vermont Board of Education and evaluate whether or not the goals of the plan were met through the Framework of Standards.
This article is about how using standards and assessments do not fully measure the educational quality of the students. It also suggests that the standardized assessments promise something that is not possible with all students. It is important to keep the standardized assessments simple and not go to deep into each subject.
This introduces the second standard set forth in 2012 known as the Alaska Standards K- 12 which focuses on content base material in the areas of study of language arts, mathematics, history /social studies, and technology studies ( ). The Alaska Standard is written with broad statements of content base topic and ideas which the students need to master in order to prepare them to be successful in their universities studies. These standards mirror those which are presented by the Common Core Initiative however they do not incorporate the common core
The Common Core State Standards are considered to be a high-quality group of academic standards. Before the standards were developed, it seemed as if the progress of the students in the United States was remaining stagnant and that America students were falling behind their international peers. The blame for this setback has fallen on the fact that standards are not consistent and from state-to-state students are required to know different things at different grade levels. As a result students are not graduating with the same set of skills (Common Core State Standards Initiative, 2014).
In 2009, many states adopted a new schooling standard called the Common Core State Standards. These are a set of popular K-12 standards in English Language Arts and Mathematics with future standards in other subjects like Social Studies. They were created for the “poor quality of content” (Polikoff) standards and to ensure that every student will learn the same things at the same pace. Researchers claim that the standards are better than the current state standards, raising the expectations of performance for students. Although Common Core is supposed to be higher quality, there are many challenges it would face such as technology upgrades, content coverage, computer scoring, etc. Before the Common Core State Standards, each state set its own standards similar to one another. With Common Core Standards, every state will have the same standards to base student performance off of. Another reason these new standards were put into place is to ensure that America will be able to
What is the purpose of the standards and how do they impact that educational community?
The standards addressed for Goal 7 include 7.3, 7.6, and 7.8. Standard 7.3 demonstrates the use of e-mail and other online tools for the reason of communicating and managing information. Standard 7.6 establishes rapport with students while teaching lesson plans. Standard 7.8 involves working collaboratively with others in completing tasks.
For many grades and levels, the standards are too progressive. Performance stakes are being raised for students everywhere. Since the year 2007, the standards were introduced and developed
The Common Core Standards engage a standards-based education. The standards guide teachers to prepare students for what they are expected to learn to succeed in life. It is essential that teachers understand the expectations and implications of the standards, so teachers can help students achieve educational goals by designing specific educational plans that align with the core standards. Furthermore, tailoring the curriculum will help to build relevant skills students are argued to integrate in college and their future careers.
In a time of educational reform, the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) was heralded as being the new path to academically successful students who would thrive in the 21st Century. The CCSS were drafted by experts and teachers in the industry with the goal of preparing students for today’s students entering the workforce, college, or training program. In addition, the CCSS focused on clear, consistent guidelines and standards that would foster critical thinking and problem solving skills for students to be successful (Common Core State Standards, n.d.). However, the CCSS have had many critics since its debut in 2010, but it has also attracted followers as well. One such proponent, Vartan Gregorian, President of Carnegie Corporation of New York hailed the CCSS as “a necessary step in the process of reform” and “create a competitive edge in the 21st century world that requires innovative educational strategies that will enable students to succeed in a global economy.” (Common Core State Standards, n.d.). As such, I do believe that the CCSS creates opportunities to encourage
