There are many characteristics that are necessary for teachers to have. First, it’s important for teachers to be vastly knowledgeable about their subject matter. Teachers need to be enthusiastic about whatever they are teaching, especially if they want to sustain students' interest. If the teacher isn't interested in the subject, why should the students? I remember my favorite teacher vividly even though I sat in her class many years ago. I have so many fond memories of her and took so much from her class. I can only dream of touching a child’s life in the way my favorite teacher touched mine. For just one student to think of me in the same way would make all the years of hard work worth the effort. I also want my students achieve many accomplishments. I want them to use and remember what they have learned in my class. I also want them to have a broad spectrum of knowledge. I want each student to do their best and go as far as they can. I want them to feel a sense of accomplishment and be proud of themselves. I want to be the teacher who is encouraging, supportive, and pushes her students to be their best.

To be an outstanding educator you need to possess many important qualities. The qualities I believe are the most important are flexibility, creativity, and passion. The teachers I remember and relate to the most have those qualities. They are the areas that I believe I have strength in and the areas that will benefit my future students.

I have been working on my academic career for many years now. I am currently in my third year of community college, and have come across multiple teachers who have helped and inspired me in many ways. In my 12 years of being in school, I have had a lot of different experiences with many different teachers. Some good and some, unfortunately, bad. I have had many favorites and some teachers that I couldn't wait until I dint have their class again. One teacher that I am so Grateful to have had is my 7th grade geography teacher Mrs. Gribble. Choosing a favorite teacher is fairly difficult when one puts into account all the types of teachers they have known, all of them are important. Teachers are the second most important people in our lives, right after our parents. Teachers are persuasive and have the power to build a child up from an immature student to become a responsible adult; or they can completely and utterly crush a students hopes and dreams.

In my opinion, a good teacher should be one who puts her heart into teaching. This is because only by doing so will the students feel their passion and hard work. When a teacher strives hard for the students, students will put in their effort as well. If a teacher dislikes her job, goes to classes in a bad mood, her teaching would also be affected and students would not be able to enjoy lessons as well.

Growing up I have always wanted to become a teacher. I don’t believe a specific person has ignited that desire but rather, all my teachers throughout school have had a positive impact on me. I have always aspired to support people, be able to teach, and aid children in discovering their skills and abilities. I connect with young children in a short period of time and they have been drawn to me. I enjoy teaching and helping younger children. A specific teacher who has stood out to me with their methods is my past Ancient History teacher. He would explain history using present day examples and involve activities that we would use in everyday life, this helped us understand the content, such as a scenario with money and housing to represent bartering and noble households. This was a suitable method considering it required us as a class to picture the past and the present day examples and comprehend them. Another example is my Math teacher. He would use visual pictures, videos, acronyms and diagrams to explain complex math problems and this made it easier to understand. He would take a question, which was complex and break it up into smaller steps so it was possible to understand. This way of explanation helped me to understand and over time I started to comprehend the complex problem. This is another method I take into account when explaining something to another student or child. Both these teachers simplified the content and made it easier to comprehend. This was a good
