My Understanding Of The Holy Spirit

Prior to this class my understanding of the Holy Spirit was that it was a somewhat mystical and mysterious force that was a part of the Trinity. I had major misconceptions of the Holy Spirit’s power, role, and purpose for the everyday life of Christians. The Holy Spirit was something that was not to be prayed to or something that was what Pentecostals subscribed to. My beliefs were wholly and seriously wrong.
What I have come to learn and believe is that the Holy Spirit witnesses to God’s people. While the Holy Spirit is fully God and an equal member of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit mediates between Jesus Christ and Christians. The Holy Spirit also is a mediator between Christians as well. This alters the way that Christians interact with corporate body of the Church.
Ecclesiology
One of the defining factors of what the church consists of is the presence of the Holy Spirit. Whether or not the presence of the Holy Spirit is present in a church can help one determine if that church is thriving or not. As stated before, the Holy Spirit alters the way that Christians interact with corporate body of the Church.
Worship within the church is one of the most common corporate experiences of Christians. The debate could be made for what kind of worship should be had in the church, traditional or contemporary, that is not what this discussion is about. What both parties can agree on is that the time for corporate worship is one of the few times that many feel comfortable expressing a manifestation of the Holy Spirit. Whether this is speaking in tongues, bowing on one’s knees, or raising of the hands.
Christology
Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God via the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit was instrumental in the coming of Jesus Christ. “The angel answered and said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God” [Luke 1:35 NASB].
Throughout Jesus Christ’s time on Earth He was “tempted in all things” (Hebrews 4:15). The example was set for all Christians to follow to overcome temptation. Through the power of the Holy Spirit we are capable of
