Ebony, I agree that Ramona needs to obtain a job that will allow her to meet her financial obligations. However, she should select a position in an organization that is in agreement with her faith. She shouldn’t accept the job just because of the money and incentives. Next Step lacks integrity, honesty, and has a negative corporate culture. She is well educated and obviously, well qualified to assume the duties of the jobs that are being presented to her. She has been recruited by several national companies and has other options. She should explore other opportunities and ascertain which career is in consonance with her faith and Christian values. 1 Timothy 6:10 says that “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. It is through …show more content…
They lack empathy and a covenant with their distributors and to Americans as a whole. The future of the company is uncertain and 1 Timothy 6:9 states that “But people who long to be rich fall into temptation are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge into ruin and destruction” (Osteen, 2006-2009). She should consider the other job offers, ask God for direction, pray about her decision, and trust him as she walks into her blessings. The word of God is clear when it states in Deuteronomy 28:12 that “The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow” (Holy Bible, New Living Translation , 2009). Once she makes a well- informed analogy regarding other job opportunities in effort to decide which one is in agreement with her ethic norms (Kubasek, Brennan, & Browne, 2015), she will be a position where she can make a professional name for herself and still climb the up the management ranks to earn “big Bucks”. As Ramona trust in the Lord, he will give her the desires of her heart. As stated by John C. Maxwell, “Many people believe that embracing ethics would limit their options, their opportunities, their very ability to succeed in business” (Maxwell, 2003). This is far from the truth, you
Ethics encompasses the various aspects of our everyday lives; this Chick-Fil-A case is an example how our personal ethics can have an effect on business. Throughout the last chapter we have discussed how ethics can have affect business leaders, and what traits shape an ethical leader. The COO of Chick-Fil-A, Dan Cathy, made his personal opinion about the definition of marriage open to the public. Mr. Cathy was not being a good ethical leader because he shared his personal views when representing Chick-Fil-A. There is a huge difference between someone’s personal opinion and the organizational outlook. Mr. Cathy’s opinion is not the ethical problem; instead it is his desire to state this opinion during company time, which caused an ethical problem for Chick-Fil-A. Values are the basis for ethics, so it is hard to separate ethics from values.
Company Q is a small local grocery store chain that has a poor attitude toward social responsibility. After reviewing the given, I feel the chain is more committed to profit than social responsibility. Most companies are in a business to make a profit, however, the difference in what is considered reasonable and what is considered ridiculous comes into play. Most people start companies because it something they are interested in and to make a living. In today’s society the line between outright social responsibility
The goal of treatment is to reduce occurrence of symptoms, prevent exacerbations, maintain normal or near normal pulmonary function, and for the patients to live a normal life as much as possible. According to the NAEPP, asthma control is the degree to which the manifestations of asthma are minimized by therapeutic intervention and the goals of therapy ae met (Woo & Wynne, 2012, p. 996). The Expert Panel Report 3: guidelines recommend a step wise approach to pharmacological management of asthma. It can be a step down approach, where treatment can begin with a higher level of therapy or step up approach, where the initial treatment starts low, depending on the severity of the patient’s condition during the initial visit. The medications are divided into 2 categories: 1) quick-relief medications to
Managed care organizations should develop an evaluation plan to examine the common vision developed by the partnering organizations and the priority SDOH identified. Establishing the evaluation plan at the outset is critical for: ensuring mutually agreed-upon baseline measures and benchmarks; the availability of data to assess identified goals and objectives; establishing milestone achievements; and creating timelines for interim and final evaluations. As the partnership progresses from program development to implementation, regularly evaluating these efforts is critical to ensure that the project stays on course to have its desired impact on SDOH. Evaluation metrics should be considered at all
Peter initially appears to be the individual who will maintain his ethical position throughout the film; unfortunately, after getting the news that him friend are going to get laid off he devises a plan to steal many fractions of cents from Initech and drop them into a private account. Samir and Mike initially seem like they do not want to have anything to do with Peter’s plan, eventually they too want to get back at Initech. It is definitely unethical to promote an employee who walks off the job and returns when he want to, this would also create serious morale issues in the workplace. A company hiring efficiency experts on the surface is not an ethical dilemma; however, the way that the Bobs treated the employees and acted with the management was at least unprofessional and probably
To begin with, this book to me is a good reminder on how different aspects of business originally are intended to be “good” in the eyes of God. However, in today’s generation many individuals including Christians highly overlook and automatically conceive business as inherently corrupt. A lot of the corruption witnessed throughout the business realm is derived from unethical motives; for example, the motive of “self-interest.” Where in a business, the boss, CEO, or head of an authoritative position proceeds with actions that only satisfy themselves instead of others (customers, employees, environment, etc.) Even since biblical times, the motives of self-interest seized the forefront of different businesses (tax collectors, carpenters, merchants). An example of this can be found when Jesus went into the temple and drove out the people who were buying and selling there (Matthew 21:12.) The fundamental motive known as “self-interest,” unfortunately is one of the main reasons why there is distortion and corruption in businesses today. According to the article “The Christian Concept of
An ethical dilemma happens in the workplace more often then we expect. World Class Bull, written by John Humphreys, Zafar U. Ahmed and Mildred Pryor, is a prime example of how sales personnel can manipulate a potential client into a contract. Christopher Knox, a stellar sales employee at Specialty Fleet Services (SFS), just landed the Armadillo Gas & Power account. Samantha Williams, Human Resources Vice President of SFS, was now filing a breach of the company code of ethics against Christopher and the Vice President of Sales, Jeremy Silva for “deceptive business practices” used to make the sale (Humphreys, Ahmed & Pryor, 2009). Disrupting personal space of the client, starting a dishonorable relationship, and
Personal religious beliefs should impact all decisions about business ethics. If your beliefs are truly mandated in your life, then you have no choice but to be fair and honest about your business decisions. Business decisions can sometimes be difficult and harsh, but that is no reason to comprise the integrity of what you believe in.
Case Study I: Eight Step Process If I were put in a position like that, I would immediately be leaning towards the side of the kid. There are many flaws in the other officer’s reasoning, and his senior status should not give him some form of immunity against scrutiny or criticism. Even taking a step back and looking at the situation in the shoes of a civilian does not make the way it was handled seem any more responsible.

The movie “Glengarry Glen Ross” presented a series of ethical dilemmas that surround a group of salesmen working for a real estate company. The value of business ethics was clearly undermined and ignored in the movie as the salesmen find alternatives to keep their jobs. The movie is very effective in illustrating how unethical business practices can easily exist in the business world. Most of the time, unethical business practices remain strong in the business world because of the culture that exists within companies. In this film, the sudden demands from management forced employees to become irrational and commit unethical business practices. In fear of losing their jobs, employees were pressured to increase sales despite possible ethical
Throughout this case, Ramona Alexander, a Liberty University graduate, is challenged with many decisions that will attempt to affect her career and walk with God. She is invited to an interview with Next Step Herbal Health. Next Step Herbal Health manufactures and sells various herbal products, healthy food, and health supplements. Not to mention, it was featured in Forbes magazine as one of the swiftest growing companies in America. After accepting the “in-person” invitation, Ramona begins to research Next Step. While conducting her research, she finds some interesting information that is both tempting and not pleasing. Ramona begins to ask questions about her research when she meets with the company recruiter. The recruiter answers Ramona’s questions with information that she begins to become apprehensive about. After answering her questions, the recruiter presents Ramona with a job contract. Prior to signing the contract and becoming an employee with Next Step, Ramona needs to gather additional information to ensure this is a company, in

What a valuable employee, Sue definitely took the high road and handled that dilemma with integrity. Each person has many reasons for being ethical. Some reasons can be: inner beliefs, habits, virtue because it is its own reward, personal advantages, it's good business, there is approval, being an ethical person can lead to self-esteem, the admiration of loved ones and the respect of peers. There is also religion because it is believed that good behavior can please or help serve a deity. Ethical actions can fit in with upbringing or training. Ethics starts with the individual employee choosing the right or wrong decision.
By making his decision based on virtue ethics Joe will be able to establish a positive moral character by exhibiting characteristics of a honest, true and fair individual. By doing what is virtuously right Joe will hire someone more suited for the job, who hopefully will help boost his unit’s sales. Joe will have a clear conscience and not be worried about information being leaked on him acquiring stolen property. Joe Raymond will avoid having a tarnished reputation. With virtue ethics Joe will be able to think logically, rationally, and objectively. He will put the needs of the organization first in the most ethical manner which will hopefully be beneficial to himself and the company.
