Al-Qaeda isn’t exactly a stranger, but how many terrorist groups do you really know? Yeah, we didn’t either. Although, we sure did find out! These terrorist groups are working every day, and we bet you didn’t even notice! To find out the top groups you’ve never heard of, all you have to do is keep reading! Number Six: The Irish Republican Army Terrorist Group Also known as the IRA, this movement sprouted in the 20th century aimed to fight Irish republicanism, which focuses on the concept that Ireland should be an independent republic. They were the first to use suicide bomb attacks, and also the first to use women in these attacks. They have been responsible for countless assassinations, hundreds of suicides, and the lost lives of over 70,000 citizens. Number Four: Boko Haram The Boko Haram sect in Nigeria has been a huge problem for the country in the past, and the threat is only growing. This group is considered responsible for a handful of government attacks, targets on the United Nations, and often churches who undermine the Islamic religion. Their actions have spawned from the idea that their country is controlled by “fake Muslims”, and aim to create an Islamic nation ruled with Sharia law. Number Three: Al-Shabaab Al-Shabaab is a terrorist group in Somalia that aims to create a “fundamentalist Islamic state”. They have caused the deaths of thousands of aid workers, journalists, social leaders, and peacekeepers of the African Union.
