Obamacare Persuasive Essay

Increased premiums, almost no choice, doughnut hole gaps, trillions of dollars being wasted; is this our new reality? This is what Obamacare has turned into, and it will only grow into more of a monumental monstrosity. Obamacare was set into motion in 2008 by President Barack Obama. This new health care system was supposed to provide cheap, affordable health care coverage to those who wanted it, but now, prices are rising, money the government does not have is being spent, and options are being limited. Obamacare should be repealed pronto. The fact is, Obama did not keep his word, and the premiums are not going down anytime soon. Ex-President Obama promised it would lower premiums substantially and even put money back in the wallets of American citizens. Looking back to Obama's election run, his big point was his new healthcare plan. That it would reduce the plan of a family's annual premiums by $2,500, but this clearly has not happened, nor will it (Vorse). Americans are paying through the nose just to have insurance that will continue to skyrocket in price. In fact, not only do multiple millions of people not qualify for subsidies, but many choose to not have insurance. This is because of premiums that were set to rise 22 percent. According to a post from the Congressional Budget Office and the Joint Committee on Taxation, two million more Americans are expected to lose coverage between 2017 and 2018 because of the intense raise in premiums (Repeal and Replace).
