Formed in 2000, Rai Ko Ris is a female fronted punk rock/hardcore band from Kathmandu, Nepal. They sing about socio-political issues in and outside Nepal. Most of their songs reflect downright anti-capitalist, socialist and feminist views. On The Bus in The UK is a song about the struggle of brown people living in the West and their difficulty to assimilate with the Whites. It is also about alienation of brown people from the Western society and racism experienced in everyday life. The song also draws a parallel between the history of Nepal and the settlement of Nepali citizen in the UK since 1965. After the partition of India in 1947, Nepal signed an agreement with UK and India to transfer four Gurkha regiments from the Indian army to the
Nike was founded by Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight. The two men met when Bowerman was coaching track and field at the University of Oregon and Knight was a middle distance runner on his team. After earning an MBA from Standford, Knight returned to Oregon and approached Bowerman with an idea to bring in low priced, high-tech athletic shoes from Japan to compete in the United States athletic shoe market. With a handshake and a five hundred dollar investment by both men, Blue Ribbon Sports was born in 1964. BRS began importing shoes from Onitsuka Tiger, with Knight making sales at high school track meets and Bowerman
On August 11, 2017 Police Officer Lawrence Lezewski, DSN 11428 manning vehicle 2426 and I (Probationary Police Officer James Harris III, DSN 0513) manning vehicle 2425 received a radio call for an “Assault” at North Broadway and Salisbury Street on a Bi-State Bus. Upon our arrival, we were met by victim Eddie Dickens and witness Willie Penson (Bi-State Bus Driver), who stated the following:
Developing effective retail management is utilizing the space in the store in order to display items that provide the largest contribution to overall profit. Retailers attempt to draw maximum attention to their most profitable products
Motivated by bias toward his perception of Sasha’s gender identity, Richards actions toward Sasha in the book The 57 Bus, by Dashka Slater, qualify as a hate crime according to the FBI’s definition. Both riding home from school on the 57 bus, Richard, a teenage boy, spots Sasha, another high schooler, riding on the back of the bus. In an act of hatred toward his assumption about Sasha's gender identity, Richard holds a lighter toward the skirt Sasha is wearing, and as they sleep, he lights them on fire. Sasha is taken to the hospital, Richard is arrested, and the eight minute overlap of their time on the bus turns into a crime that will define both of them for the rest of their lives. After Richard is detained, the officer questioning Richard asks

The most well-known limit placed upon women in a work setting is the wage gap, or the difference between a man’s salary and a woman’s salary. Authors dive into the subject of the current wage gap because of its presence in modern society, and one author who does speak out about the topic is Caroline Fredrickson. Fredrickson, president of the American Constitution Society for Law and Policy, writes in her book Under the Bus: How Working Women Are Being Run Over about how the gap between a man and woman’s salaries does exist in today’s progressive society. To argue her case, Fredrickson reveals, “In the past decade, women have not made any progress at all, with the wage gap overall remaining stubbornly at 77 percent…” (44). This gap of seventy seven percent implies that the majority of women are paid only seventy seven percent of what a man is paid in any given position.

Introduction- The East Bay area is an economically diverse community with many satisfactory and unsatisfactory aspects. Each city had its differences and distinctions in people, settings, and cleanliness. As the bus left the station and went around the corner I could tell that we were in a low poverty city. With loose trash and debris in front of houses and apartment buildings, the area looked torn down and not very visual pleasing. Already familiar with the city of Emeryville I knew to expect a more upscale location. With plenty of name brand stores, and new apartment complexes, it was obvious this city was clean and very different from the previous location. As the bus
In today's diverse environment it is crucial to embrace diversity in a continuously evolving international community. Even more day to day industries must continue to promise an environment that understands and promotes diversity in order to best serve and represent the public at large. Thus, even Transport for London, a government agency supervising public transportation must show that they incorporate equality and diversity into their operating practices.
Imagine yourself sleeping on a bus to wake up engulfed in flames and seeing people laughing at you burning up. The book The 57 Bus by Dashka Slater talks about a real incident that occurred in Oakland, California. The person that was set on fire on a bus was an 18 year old agender person named Sasha Fleischman. Agender means that the person doesn’t identify as male nor female and use the pronouns they, them, their. They were set on fire by an 16 year old African American male named Richard Thomas. Sasha is middle class, lives in the Oakland hills and attends a private high school at Berkeley. Richard, on the other hand, is working class, lives in East Oakland and attends Oakland High School. Richard at 16 was charged as an adult for putting
The reason the bus boycott was so successful was because of the large population of African Americans that did not ride the buses in the late 50’s. They all stuck together and walked to work and the city finally saw how much they really needed the black community to ride the bus.
I loved riding on the Knight bus it was amazing and wonderful. It was great to see how the Muggles don't see this great big bus just zooming through cars and towns. I also find it great that witches and wizards can use the Knigh bus to go to Hogwarts after the holidays instead of using Floo powder and Apparation. i also find it interesting how the bus has charms on the inside and on the outside and how at night instead of chairs there are beds. I love how it goes extremely fast and how it just zooms on the streets and towns. I didn't like being knocked out of my chair several times (laughs) but it was lots of fun and I will definitely ride the Knight Bus again and again. I also liked how there are 3 levels on the bus so wizards have room
The economy has made it a necessity to change the way we spend. Zooming off to other lands by plane was the norm. In the past, far more travelers chose to travel by air than land. For some, travel by bus was never even a consideration. Yet, now more than ever, we are finding that travel by bus can be well worth the price and much more cost efficient. Traveling by bus is a much cheaper option to air travel. While the time required to reach your destination will take longer, the savings can far offset the time requirement. Have you ever stood in line at a grocery store? It seems like ages before you get to checkout unless you spend your time doing other things rather than just standing. It has always been true that "times flies when you are having fun '. Doing something interesting or worthy of your time while waiting can make time literally fly. So, rather than just sitting, watching or sleeping, include in your travel itinerary a few items that will make the time go so fast, you will feel as if you have only spent minutes on a bus rather than hours. So, how does one make traveling by bus more enjoyable? How does a traveler make a trip by bus tolerable and actually experience a decrease in the perceived time? A trip by bus even though it can take much more time, can be perceived as flying by quickly. The time and trip can be more comfortable. And if you write, teach, or even are a business owner, your trip can be quite productive. Making a few changes and adding a few
As I pulled into Cajun Field to park my car and take a bus ride to campus, I braced myself for a huge change. From the luster of the car’s hoods and the smell of oil as I exited my car, it was obvious that there was a large number of cars here. It was very hot and you could see the refraction caused by the heat from the cement. I made my way to the line of people waiting to board the bus. The line was lengthy since it was the first day of school, and everyone was trying to be a little bit early for their classes. My chance to board the bus finally came, I found a seat nearest to the window with no one in it and sat there. Even though the air conditioners on the bus were on full blast, it was still hot because of the number of people on the bus. There were two to a seat, and a bus length of people standing in the aisle holding onto the metal bar that was bolted down to the roof of the bus.
