Shopping has become easier to do now that almost everything is electronic. When it’s time to go back to school shopping, all you must do is hop on the computer and find what you need, and have it delivered to your home. This makes it easier for parents with small children or even parents who live in Weatherford away from major shopping centers. Brick and mortar shopping took place in a storefront only. So, if you were looking for something specific and they didn’t have it, you would have to order it online and ship it to the store anyway. Now that stores have decided to utilize the internet people can do the ordering from the comfort of their own homes. With online shopping you don’t have to deal with lines or crowds which is nice for people who don’t have a ton of time to spend hours in the store. The two offer great sales and promotions along with selections from which we can choose. As online shopping and brick and mortar may seem similar; however, both differ in pricing, convenience and selection.
Retail shopping provides a great experience for the consumer, and can be better than internet shopping in some ways. When retail shopping, you can actually touch the product, and see it with your own eyes. This provides reassurance to the consumer that the product is the quality that they intend to buy, and can trust the store. Normally, if an item is boxed, the store will have a show model that potential buyers can interact with and base their decision of whether to buy it off of the functionality and price of that item. Retail shopping also allows the consumer to pay with cash, an option that internet shopping does not feature. This means that people can only pay for things with the money they have, and avoid credit build up on credit cards. On the other hand, some say retail shopping is not as good as internet shopping.
For retailers, being online is efficient and improves customer relationships, but it does not replace a retailer's ability to "up-sell" and ultimately it struggles to match the brand appeal created by a physical presence in a strong shopping centre.
Not only do people have to spend less time traveling to the store and walking around looking for what they need then waiting in line to pay for the goods, but they also have to spend less money because of gas prices and the discounts online businesses are offering to customers who purchase online. Our group interviewed five people at the Gretna Outlet Mall about their overall shopping experience. Common themes that were brought up by the interviewees over the course of the conversations included the influence of brand names as well as the pros and cons of online versus in-person shopping. In the later conversations, these common themes were something we steered the interviewees toward as they were a major part of the problem that, as a prospective business, we would hypothetically attempt to solve.

I agree with your post. I believe that brick and mortar businesses are highly relevant despite the fact that e-commerce is on the rise. I too enjoy shopping online sometime mainly due to my shopping habits and simply out of convenience. Joseph (2016) acknowledges that, E-commerce has the convenience component nailed down. Moreover, that is essentially why people like online shopping, consumers like that they have to exude little effort or difficulty, they simply just have to scroll down a page to look at the products available and place them in their online cart. Likewise, they are able to avoid waiting in lines and searching for a parking spot. However, convenience is highly important and essential especially in today’s time when people have so much on their plates that they rarely have time to factor in time for shopping in actual stores. Furthermore, the reason as to why brick and mortar stores are still relevant and people still utilize them is because they have some attributes that E-commerce does not have such as an opportunity and time for consumers to walk into a physical store, opportunity for face-to face interaction, able to physically pick up the items, feel them, smell them or taste them.
