Opportunities in the Cuban Market
Coca-Cola has been around for many generations and is a well- known product throughout the globe. Breaking into a new area where it may be not as familiar with the citizens of Cuba is a new position that Coca-Cola hasn’t been as accustomed to in recent history. Now that the embargo between the United States and Cuba has been lifted and the Obama Administration has been lifted there is an opportunity for Coca-Cola to re-enter the market (as discussed earlier). These opportunities include hotels and resorts, places Americans may be staying, giving them a familiar product that they are custom to. The other opportunities are the Cuban natives and being a big contributor to the Cuban past times such as baseball.

Coca-Cola should jump on this opportunity to team up with these resorts to exclusively use their products now that more Americans will be visiting a country that produces a vacation with many beautiful beaches. People tend to gravitate towards a taste and product that they are used to and the crisp refreshing taste of a Coca-Cola classic can be just what the visitors’ need. To piggy back off the opportunity of teaming up with the resorts and trying to get people to visit Cuba, the marketing team should try to devise a plan that involves sponsoring a trip to a few lucky winners and in return the hotel accommodates their guests with Coca-Cola …show more content…
Unfortunately, for a poor company such as Cuba, approximately one out of every four citizens has had accessibility to an internet connection. Cuba has recognized that they are behind in the times and have developed 35 hot spots throughout the country. Although a good start, there is much left to be desired. This opens the door for a company like Coca-Cola, in the industry that they are in, to create a spot where wi-fi is accessible and the patrons are able to enjoy the taste of the fizzling cola beverage. In support of the effort and movement towards a more technological savvy country, Coca-Cola could offer support and classes in teaching those who have never had the exposure to the internet in their own ‘hot-spots’ developing an opportunity to be recognized in the community in a positive
Ernest Hemingway was no tourist, but his attraction to Cuba was much like that of the rest of America. The beautiful beaches and tropical climate helped him write novels, but he also loved the daiquiris at the Floridita, the fishing, and the adventurous bootleggers from Florida. Cuba has its beautiful beaches and fish-filled waters, but part of the attraction as well has historically been the plentiful rum and the "anything goes" atmosphere. The casinos and nightclubs frequented by tourists bring with them an unsavory element in the form of organized crime and prostitution. Tourism has its benefits, but in Cuba it is a clear reminder of the island's dependence on wealthy foreign nations for its survival, and the
Coca-Cola is sold in over 200 countries and had for years done very well in Brazil. A closer look at Coca-Cola's Brazilian market is presented in an article in the Thunderbird (published by the Garvin School of International Management), which delves into the profit problems that Coca-Cola had in Brazil in the early part of the decade of the 2000s. The article, published in 2004, points out that the fast growth of "off-brand" soft drinks, called tubainas, has taken away profits from Coca-Cola, and created huge marketing problems for the giant soft drink corporation. This review of the article, "Coca-Cola's Marketing Challenges in Brazil: The Tubainas War " written by Gertner, et al explores the issues that Coca-Cola has had to deal with in attempting to gain a bigger share of the soft drink market in Brazil.
economic growth comes from agriculture and exports to and from Europe. Since America has had an embargo on Cuba since 1962 neither countries trade with each other because of many disagreements about governing techniques and Fidel's unwillingness to comply with U.S. instructions. Cuba’s long history and culture has contributed to many economic and social growth through out the world, but Cuba is still struggling to try to stable their economy.
There are only five countries left in this world that still call themselves communists stated by (PRI,2013). Everyone knows those five countries as, China, Dominican Republic, Korea, Vietnam, and of course Cuba. Cuba is home to 11.2 million citizens whom live a very different life than us who populate the united states (PRI,2013). During the year of 1925 the socialist party was founded forming the Communist party. Cubans government has survived over 50 years of Communism (BBC,2017).
“Raw sugar accounts for one quarter of Cuba’s export less than half a billion dollars” (The Economic Impact of Better US-Cuba Relations, 2015). Ending the embargo “Cuban exports can go from $0 to 5.8 billion” (US Cuba Embargo Pros and Cons: Renewed Relations Sets Caps and Limited Success for Businesses). Both economics can benefit massively from lifting the trade embargo this is because one of the most imperative exports of the Cuban economy is nickel. Nickel a mineral used in many industrial processes such as the creation of stainless steel, it can be a major use to the United States economy because it imports around 43% of nickel from the rest of the world therefore Cuba could benefit by entering the United States market. Cuba’s major import is refined petroleum which the United States is one of the largest producers of, the Cuban economy also imports wheat corn, meat, milk and soybeans which the United States also produces. Additionally, Cuba also exports rum and tobacco(cigars) which are said to be legendary in the United States. With the lifting of the embargo these products can be exported to the United States because Americans loves these clichés also, these exports can lead to a major enhancement in the Cuban economy because trade increases sales and profits, strengthen local competitiveness and diversification. Together the countries will be able to trade mutually and exchange
, and tobacco, for 60 years this has been Cuba’s calling cards, a land that hasn’t progressed much in six decades Cuba has stood as a vacation paradise for many of the worlds powerful nations, including Europe, Canada, and Australia. Most people who visit Cuba rarely see past the white sands, blue water, and endless alcohol of resorts, going off said resorts will give an entirely different view of the country. A people of farmers, musicians, and artisans, the Cuban people are a simple and hard working group all looking. For 60 years the Cuban government has kept the United States out of the country for the most part, that is until recently. During the cold war, Cuba joined the communist nations and went as far to allow Russian missiles to be placed on Cuban soil this was seen as a threat to American interests, causing John F. Kennedy to impose an embargo on the small nation just 80 miles away from Florida. With the Obama administration now lifting these embargos this can be viewed as both a positive and a negative thing to the county. While yes opening up Cuba to America will do wonders for it economically, I believe that culturally the country will suffer greatly. Often when American influence is permitted into a country there is often corruption that follows, Industrial corruption, cultural bullying, and the influx of drugs, are all issues that seem to follow whenever America enters a former enemy state. While yes from an economic stand point the country may do well,
