Character is the sum of what makes the attributes of a leader. It is who you are; how you act and the choices you will decide to make in life. This will determine the direction that you head in life.. Although integrity is part of character it is considered part of the foundation. For this paper I have decided to cover integrity and do some examination of how it affects Character.
Said to be the most important quality of all, uncompromising integrity must be present in all areas of a leaders professional and personal life. Integrity shows itself in many ways but the two bold aspects are staying power and getting outside of yourself. Staying power is being 100% committed long term for the interest of the company, not just for self evolved reasons like climbing the ladder to better your own career venture. Getting outside of yourself is the will to help others even when there is no personal gain involved.

They take responsibility for their actions and own up to the situation they have created be it good or bad. The same behaviors are exhibited by the employees, they work work hard and they work right.

They do the right thing even when it is not popular or easy. Employees often make comments about their managers or supervisors. Some people feel like they have the best managers, while others feel like they have the worst managers. Managing individuals is not easy, and there is no handbook or novel out there, to teach you how to do it just right. Being a manager is difficult, and being a good manager can be even harder. This paper will discuss the characteristics and behaviors of a peer manager that has influenced my leadership. It will examine my observations of the individual and the impact that it has had on me.
Integrity is defined as the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles or a moral uprightness. If I were to look at our society, you can find many examples where leaders either failed or succeeded in maintaining their integrity. If I had to put my own definition on integrity, it wouldn’t have anything to do with right or wrong, but just having a consistency in how one person is to conduct themselves. Most recently, we have seen a FIFA scandal in which leadership had been leadership had conspired to receive bribes from marketing firms in exchange for exclusive television contracts. In the eyes of the world, FIFA is expected to maintain system free of corruption. Without integrity, certain people, nations, or organizations would receive favoritism or negative effects. I am only writing what I can find on the matter, without stating whether or not the party is guilty or innocent.

Without honesty we can never get to really know a person, we merely know the image they portray, this means that the relationship is a fallacy and a complete waste of time in that you can never truly connect with the other person, you are therefore involved in a fantasy and not a friendship/ relationship. Without integrity one can never really trust a person as you will always be thinking the person is lying, you can not count on them in situations where you need someone to either help you or you need to count on them for something. And that’s what leads to success. Leaders with integrity is not afraid to face the truth. This is called the reality principle, or “seeing the world as it really is, not as you wish it to be.” It is perhaps the most important principle of leadership and dependent on integrity because it demands truthfulness and honesty.
