A famous example of a debate is The Owl and the Nightingale. At the very beginning, the mood is set as emotionally charged as it was stated, "Now gentle, now in furious spate. / And each against the other swelled" ("The Owl" 6-7). The first contrast between the Owl and the Nightingale were depicted by their placements. The Owl was housed within a "stump alone, / Decayed, with ivy overgrown" ("The Owl" 25-26).
