In this report I am going to be looking at P4, M3 and D2. P4- Explain possible priorities and responses when dealing with two particular incidents or emergencies in health and social care setting. M3-Discuss health, safety or security concerns arising from specific incidents or emergency in health and or social care setting. D2-Justify responses to a particular incident or emergency in health or social care setting. * Priorities to consider when dealing with that situation * How the incident should be responded to * Who would need to do what * What reporting would be needed * Include a complete incident form relating to one of the scenarios SCENARIO 1 A student has slipped on the playground is now on the floor in pain. What is the procedure to follow? Safety plays an important role in schools and colleges which ensure pupils and students’ safety has been part of ethical framework for decades. As much as the schools and colleges do to minimize the risks of all things happening to pupils and students, some things can’t be minimised for example with scenario 1, the students slipping in a playground. I am going to be looking at how to respond to this scenario and the right producers to follow. There are producers that have to be followed involving accidents within the school to ensure the children’s safety and reassurance of parents regarding their children’s safety within the school, also that staff know how to deal with anything that arise. The case study selected for week three centers on a liability and assumption of risk case study. In this case study, Brent Thomas and George Banks are facing liability charges after Ricky Watts sustained a serious injury during hockey practice (Essex, 2016). In this situation, Thomas is the school principal, and Banks is the hockey coach as well as the gym teacher (Essex, 2016). Ricky obtained injuries after improperly blocking the puck (Essex, 2016). This case study was selected because it highlights a situation that will likely be faced by all future school leaders. Sports are popular among students, and there is inherent risk in each sporting event. A school is open to liability if they do not ensure that proper protocols are met.

This means keeping children safe from accidents (i.e. road safety), crime and bullying and actively promoting their well-being in a healthy, safe and supportive environment. It also encompasses issues such as pupil health and safety and bullying, about which there are specific statutory requirements, and a range of other issues, for example, arrangements for meeting the medical needs of children with medical conditions, providing first aid, school security, drugs and substance misuse.
Schools need to maintain a disciplined and safe learning environment. There are many disciplinary actions that are in use today and although some can disagree about the amount of discipline that is best for maturing children, it is reasonable to be in agreement that a positive learning environment begins with physical and emotional safety. School safety includes a broad range of matters, including, fighting, bullying, drugs, alcohol, weapons, and etc. Many schools use varying methods in an effort to maintain school safety. Some schools limit school access and require all visitors to sign in. Physical surveillance is another common method of addressing school safety issues along with use of staff and student identification. Among all these
Following on from my role as a Health and Safety Executive inspector in assignment 1, I have left the HSE to become a director of my own small engineering manufacturing business (an SME). Unfortunately two of my staff has been involved in an accident in the workshop area involving a collision with a fork-lift truck. One of my worker s was hospitalized with a foot injury. In this assignment I will create a case study that links to this scenario by regarding the necessary methods of reporting and recording of accidents, incidents and near misses.
This document tells you how to respond immediately to an accident (an ‘adverse event’), and when and how to investigate and report accidents in the workplace. It helps ensure that the immediate response is appropriate, and that investigations are thorough and dispassionate, and preventative strategies can be put in place to prevent recurrence. AUDIENCE This document is for all employees of SAC.
