Many artists hide behind their work and allow their art to express what they cannot. This remains true for author, Barbara Kingsolver. She has written thirteen books, contributed to hundreds of anthologies, and published many stories, essays, poems, and articles. Her works have acquired many awards through the years, most notably, the National Humanities Medal, known as the highest honor of service through the arts in the year 2000. Kingsolver has heavily influenced her community and positively impacted the literary world.

It is important to understand and consider what discipline and discourse community you will be speaking within in order to fashion your ideas into a well-received written contribution. Understanding effective writing processes and critical revising methods grants a writer greater ability to create succinct, effective, and enticing text. Understanding genres enables a writer to know what conventions of writing are expected of them and which best suit their purposes. What I learned about my author Beverly Cleary, I never knew who inspired her to write. Most people would say family inspired their nieces,nephews,and any kind of family but someone else inspired her to write. It was her middle school librarian. Beverly got told by her librarian and her english teacher that one day she should be a writer. Now that's usually not normal for someone in Beverly's life to inspire her so much but she did.
