When I was a little kid around 6-7 I spent a lot of my time with my older cousin Jeremy he was only 3 years older though. I was the second oldest during that time but my older brother lived with my dad and my baby sister was like 1 so I could only play with my cousin. So when I was at my cousins house my uncle would try to teach me and my cousin how to skate, my cousin already knew a little bit about the skateboard, whilst I knew absolutely nothing. so my uncle got me a skateboard and a helmet, no knee pads or elbow pads because he said if i fall and get a cut i’ll only get better and better. Sadly I believed him, and i could have fell a million times, and i only got a tiny bit better. But all that taught me skills, patient, and just to practice harder. But i'm still learning, i'm …show more content…
Keep in mind i was only maybe 7-8 years old. i was the only 7-8 year old in my school to skate, whilst some road bikes better than some people did, some road scooters, whilst i skated. My friends all thought skating was stupid, but i didn't care because first i didn't know how to ride a bike. So later on in life l tried to learn to ride a bike because i never learned and i failed a lot. But from riding a skateboard it taught me to just try again and never give up. so i learned to ride a bike at the age of 10 and i just never really picked up a skateboard again. i got better at riding a bike. Way better actually. So riding a skateboard taught me to never give up. also skating taught me that practice makes perfect. when i started learning to skate i was little and i failed a lot, but i kept practicing. And eventually i got better. i used to be able to do a little bit of tricks. but when my mom was at the skate park she fell and broke her arm. That was one of the 2 reasons why i haven't skated in like forever. Im thinking of trying to learn to skate again, because i haven't in 3 ½
On the other hand, by studying roller skating, rollershoes offer many opportunities to cultivate the children's willpower and their values. Inevitably, due to the special sole structure of rollershoes, falling during the learning process is an obviously normal phenomenon. Instead of letting the young hold back, it gives great motivation and passion to learn and to become more and more courageous. The process of learning or playing rollershoes lets them have a deeper understanding about the principle—facing difficulties, they should be grasped the nettle rather than timidly
So my first lesson was how to balance on the skateboard. Albert told me where to put my feet and I stood on the skateboard. I was so scared I was going to fall and I did. He help me up and told me not to be so scared and shaky. So I tried again And I did it really well. I even leaned forward and back so once I started riding I would already know how to turn. So now I needed to learn how to balance on the skateboard with one leg and it only took a couple tries to get it down. So once I learned how to balance on the skateboard Albert told me to step on it and he pushed me.I was going so fast on the skateboard but then I remembered about my training. I started to balance and I started to turn and then I was riding a skateboard. All I had to do know was balance on one foot and kick back by other leg so I can push myself. I started to do that and I fell.
That quote, from the documentary Freeling, sums up skating. Fall a lot but you get back up; learn not to give up even when the going gets rough. When you land the trick, it washes all away; you forget the bad and just remember the good of landing it. I personally can say that this life lesson has already proved very crucial in my life. Whether it is when I’m working outside in 100 degree weather, putting together my 3-inch thick eagle project binder, or going for a run. It all comes down to the mental aspect.
Skating has impacted me in many positive ways. I have learned skills that I will be able to use through out the rest of my life, from being on a Synchronized skating team. Three that have really stood out to me are: Responsibility, Going with the Flow, and Time Management.
I wasn’t able to do any of the fancy moves yet, but I did have fun and couldn't wait for my next ice skating class.
At the age of three, I began taking ballet lessons. I was little, it was fun and I got to pretend I was a real ballerina. Never would I have guessed that fourteen years later I would still be dancing. Ballet has always been an important part of my life, being on the stage performing has always been my favorite part. Never understood the excitement when I was younger.
Last year, I took roller skating lessons as my physical education class. Because since childhood, I have admired those kids who were skating in front of me like floating. So I took this opportunity to learn roller skating very hard. And with the practice, I felt more and more that roller skating was benefit to our health. It was not a serious threat but an innocent toy.
Later on that day, I asked my mom if I could buy a skateboard. Thankfully, she said yes so I went to a person that knew more about skateboards than I did, my best friend Jordan. I went to him for help figuring out what type of skateboard I would need to get. He knew the board I would need to get and it was a normal skateboard but from a real skateboard shop. So I ordered a BLIND brand skateboard from the
I slide on the 0 degree ice turning with my toepick deep in the frozen water, I jump up unsure if I can land but manage to come down perfectly. My coach praised me as I skated toward her, a mile long grin lay on my face. “I finally did it!” I thought “I finally learned how to do a trick on Ice Skates.” In March, my teacher, Mr. Kopacz, gave us a month long project to make yourself better. The project consisted on two goals, one for inside of school goal and the second for an outside of school goal.
Practice ended and it was about time for the open skate session to start, about 15 minutes into the session the song ‘Welcome to the jungle’ by Guns and Roses came on over the speakers, it’s almost a trigger song for me, like as if something just clicks in my head and I start to get pumped and skate really fast dancing and weaving in and out of people. I started speed skating and usually everyone sees me, so they move out of the way. Except that night there was one person who didn’t, but I knew it was unintentional. I was skating and a little boy fell in front of me, he was probably no older than 8. My reaction time is usually accurate, anyway he had fallen in front of me, and so my first instinct was to jump over him. I jumped successfully, but when I landed I bent my axel from the impact and I fell. Not realizing it, when I got up a pain shot through my right ankle, I had to be escorted off the floor in a wheel chair because I couldn’t skate or walk. The next day I went into urgent care but then they sent me to an actual doctor for an X-ray and CT-scan. Turns out I sprained my ankle and strained a ligament in my foot on impact, they gave me a boot to wear, some pain medicine and sent me home. When I found out that I had done all of that I was more worried about the fact that I couldn’t
When I was 9 years old, I learned to dance. I taught my muscles how to sway in unison, how to recover after hours of practice, and how to twirl at a pace that I still cannot understand to this day.
My little brother has always wanted to be a skateboard champion. He first started riding skateboards when he was tiny. He kept trying even though he wasn't very good. When he was little, his helmet was almost too big for his head. He looked funny squatting on his board trying to keep his balance. He couldn't balance on the end of the board and make it flip, but he could turn and maneuver without falling. By the time he was ten, he could skate fast and straight. He has learned to ride the half-pipe ramp like a pro. He can fly off the ramp, grab his board, and turn a 360-degree flip. At last, all of his hard work has paid off. He is the best!
I’ve been a learner at SCVi Charter School since 6th grade, I am now a sophomore and have to do the “Personal Project.” For my project, I started getting into skateboarding and taught myself, with help from friends, multiple tricks. I remember when I was in third grade, I had a skateboard and would always skate with my friend Keiffer. He could do so many cool tricks, but I couldn’t even do an ollie. It got me mad because no matter how hard I tried, I could not do it, so I quit. Skateboarding has always been a hobby that I wanted to get into, but never really did. I saw this school project as an opportunity to not only get a good grade while having fun, but to become the skater I always wanted to be.
Young beginners are inevitably to be confronted with setbacks and frustration during the process of learning to skate well. First of all, they are demanded to cease to weep and to stand up by their own; then, they are demanded to hold back tears over and over again and refrain from concentrating on their pains; finally, they are demanded to call up courage and persevere in repeatedly training, so as to get the hang of skills to handle their Roller shoes. Of course, due to a variety of levels of perception, it may not be too hard for some children to grasp key points of roller skating. Moreover, the road of learning won't never be paved with upsets or disappointments and it will also be lined with flowers and blossom. No matter how tough it is, children are bound to grow stronger and braver when learning to face failures and solving
