It was a warm spring day. I woke up to my mom opening my curtains saying that “I need to get up and not sleep all day.”
The sunlight blinded me at first then my eyes started to adjust. I slowly rolled over and grabbed my phone. It was almost noon and I was supposed to get up around ten. I turned my ceiling fan light on and got out of bed and got ready for the day. I opened up my door and I heard everyone in the house yelling. I walked to the bathroom down the hall and hopped in the shower. The hot water instantly woke me rest of the way up. After my Shower, I was getting dressed and like always I could not find my socks. After about ten minutes a pair finally popped up. I slid my shoes on walked out the door and hopped in my truck and started driving. I got to the stop sign at the corner of my street and called my friend Jason to see if he wanted to hang out.
He said to “come by my mom’s house to pick him up.” I turned down his street and seen him in the middle of the road flipping me off as I pulled up. He kept standing in my way so I lightly bumped him with my truck.
“He lost his balance and fell to the ground when he got back up he was banging on my window asking what that was for.” He got in my truck and asked: “what are we going to do?”
I said we were going to Chris’s and hang out there for the day. Once we pulled into his driveway we saw him walk out onto his porch to wait for us to walk up. We told him we were bored so we came over to chill.
He said
I walked outside the next morning feeling great. The bright vibrant sun shone on the freshly mowed grass. I loaded into my sister's car and we went off to school. The day passed extremely rapid,
decided to go to a park with 8 other of my friends and he had the smart idea
I woke up this morning. It was a morning much like any morning, except, it looked like a
Summer of 1994. New York City smelled no different than hot rat piss and looked accordingly. Fresh off my 15th birthday and wandering the Brooklyn streets with Hakeem, we followed the music wherever it played. Our community cherished music through constant airplay. Anyone with loud speakers, either in their car, apartment, or boombox, blared any of the anthems from the future greats. Whether it's Nas, Wu-Tang, Biggie, or Tribe, the list is blissfully endless. Hakeem’s brother, a well-connected music promoter, gave Hakeem two tickets to this secret show he was putting on for Ice Cube, who, despite being the first notable west coast rapper, carries a rage within him that the east coast entirely recognizes.
I left the kitchen and sprinted to my room. I flopped down onto my bed and my sobbing, mixed with a crying induced hiccup, put me to sleep. When I woke up it was the next morning and the day seemed to have an aura about it that wasn't as tense as it had been for the past few months. It was nice. It surprised
I turned and ran, the lights went out and I was in my car again. I started it and drove home. When I got back it was seven in the morning. I got dressed and left for work.
Once I was done with seconds, I went to the porch with Jeffrey and Lauren. We waited for Cody and Justin to get done, so we could play Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Apples to Apples, and some kind of Trivia game. Once they
So I charged at him with all my energy. BAM! He falls to the ground I get on top of him and start going at him, Hit after hit . He started to cry so I stopped. He did probably no one has done after a fight. He apologized, I was shocked I didn’t know what to say, But I decided to apologize to. After we apologized to each other we decided to hang out. I asked him what sports he plays, luckily he said soccer because I had a soccer ball. So I went ahead and got my ball.
My spring project was at YMCA. At the YMCA, I was doing different physical activities with children and adults. The first activity that my team and I did was parachute. I have never play parachute and it was very new to me. When the event start, my team and I started to play with parachute by ourselves so we can get used to it and thinking different ways to use the parachute for the children to have fun. At first, there were not many children coming around, so my team and I advertised it by playing around with it and smiling which led children to be interested in the activity. The parachute activity went really well. Adults were able to participate with their children in the activity and they were having fun and enjoying themselves. Another
It was a bright morning, I woke up from bed and took a quick shower. I
down the street decided to bring his bike up the hill and ride down with me as he’d done
I waited a minute or two after my mom left for work to go over to Krista’s to help set up for the party. “Hey Ally,” I shouted up the stairs.
We’re only several days away from 2017 and I’m sure we can all agree that 2016 was a really, almost unbearably, long and turbulent year for many of us. We’ve been graced with everything ranging from people becoming dogs on Snapchat to Vine being shutdown and lets not forget McDonalds introduced a 24-hours breakfast menu. Although 2016 was the worst we’re going to recap on all the good and bad things this year has given us incase you forgot.
A perfect fall day would take place on a cool, Saturday evening in October. Preparations would start early in the afternoon with a visit to the store. Like a kid in a candy store, I would go through the Kroger aisles buying popcorn, s’mores supplies, and hot chocolate. I would carefully check that each white, fluffy marshmallow was not squashed and I would buy whip cream to top off each mug of rich, creamy hot chocolate. Final stop would be the big, shiny Redbox kiosk for a movie. My kids say I take forever picking a movie!
I never saw it coming, everyone but me knows it doesn’t just form overnight. They can be perceived at least a few days in advance, but how was I supposed to know, I’m no storm expert. To me the days prior had an uncanny tranquility floating about, not even a moonlight in sight and then it changed like a spark in a fire. Everything had altered almost instantaneously above my head, transforming into a ferocious beast that would take over the town on the murky July day.
