I have decided to join the Student Government Association as a senator because I believe my skills, qualifications, experience and even future goals are tailored to this position and through it I can not only help the Stetson community but I can learn from the experience and grow as a person. As former high school Student Government President I know that more than any other branch in SGA, the Senate’s job is to listen to the voices of students and find new ways to respond to their needs, concerns and aspirations. As Senator I will find and develop multiple avenues for connecting with students, sparking and collecting their ideas, and supporting them in their own projects to improve the Stetson experience. Senate typically works most effectively
Since transferring to UB, I have been highly motivated to be make an impact change on this campus. Being an SA Senator gives me the opportunity to not just be a part of positive change but to also make the voice of students louder and heard in the decision-making processes in SA. This position will also enable me to better appreciate the little things in society and also increase my desire to improve the world through my career.
I seek to join Teach For America because I would not be where I am today if it was not for caring teachers who pushed me into the right direction and validated the idea that I can be a successful student. Growing up my mother and grandmother were both teachers, and hearing their struggles of teaching, I had vowed to never become one. When high school came I was convinced that I was going to join the military and that college was never an option. That was until I met Ms. Mudron, my English teacher who planted a seed in me that grows till this day. My answers to questions that she asked regarding our readings were nothing like the other students, yet they were not wrong, she informed me that I thought outside of the box and that is why I should
“As senior class president, I have a lot that I want to do. I mainly want to promote Blue Devil spirit in the Senior class. I want the seniors to be proud to be a Blue Devil and graduating Blue Devils none the less,” Cappiello said. “For trips, I have ideas but I could really care less, it is more important to me that the seniors get what they want. I will be reaching out to the senior if elected. I want to do fun trips like in the past but also events that will help us in the future, like networking and resume building.”
A club that I have enjoyed being in since fifth grade is Beta Club. Currently I am the Historian in my high school Beta Club. Some people may believe Beta Club only focuses on academics, but it does so much more. Even though academics is a big part of the club, we also focus on leadership, achievement, character, and service. Our club traveled to the national convention to compete about a year ago. A competition I entered was called the “Meeting of the Minds”, and I was on a team with three other people. We went in not expecting to win anything, because our school does not seem to place much at state conventions, but we tried our best. To our surprise we placed first in the competition. It was so exciting when we realized we won first.
I felt uninspired at my high school. The routine I created for myself was mundane. The highlights of my day as a sophomore included being first in line to lunch, and that I knew I could go through the motions of school "just fine." I always felt like I had nothing to prove because nothing academically I did felt like had any significance to me. In the state of Washington, high school Juniors and Seniors are allowed to enroll at their local community colleges with their tuition paid for. Curious, I decided to enroll at Pierce College for my final 2 years of "high school." The decision to attend Pierce College has inspired me to expand my worldview and has empowered me to take charge of my intellectual development. I took classes that have enlightened
I, Chalee Ramos, ask to be nominated to the Wapello High school Student Senate. I fully comprehend the responsibilities that come with being on Student Senate. I consider myself as responsible and mature, which is what a leader should be. My first concern is to drive the school into being a better place, which is what people complain about, therefore I’m not going to promise things that will never be fulfilled. However, I will be devoted to what I sign up for. I thrive to create
I think my most two memorable experiences would have to be my position in the Eigenmann Student Government and the IFS program. My Eigenmann Student Government (ESG) position has really made me learn how to balance a leadership role while also working on my schoolwork as well. I think that this program has helped me with working with a group of individuals in order to make changes for a mass group of residents. This position has made me think about the things that I would want to happen and think about it from many possible perspectives in order to appeal to not just one group of individuals but to multiple. I also think that my IFS experience was a meaningful part to starting my college career off in a good way. I think that my IFS experience
Over the course of several meeting with senate and specific senate members, it became clear that senate was fully aware that something had to be done to involve students in campus wide decision making and provide a forum where students’ needs and concerns could be shared.
When I started to think about this paper, my first reaction was write about the various formal student associations that I belong to and how they interconnect to form a larger community of involved students impacting the University together. However, my heart was not in it to write eight pages about the adult student association. I went over to my best friend’s house, where some traveling bands from Atlanta were going to have a house show. It suddenly hits me, House shows, co-ops, and the accompanying scenes are so normal to me that I forgot how special they are. DIY bands do not have a record label, a producer, and do not usually play at mainstream venues, instead opting to play shows in people’s houses, often they are co-ops. As the name
I feel that because of my global background I could contribute to the program in a way that is unique. I think that living and being a part of many different cultures has allowed me to have a view of the world that is different from others. Involvement in the Freshman Leadership Experience and Student Government Association would allow me to grow as a person while making the 2015-2016 school year memorable for myself and others. I want this school year to be the best for everyone and I feel that because of my ability to understand people of many cultures I would perform well at the tasks presented under the purpose of the SGA. Student life is one thing I love to be a part of because it is able to unite the many who attend Virginia Tech.
Do you want to bring change to tapestry? Fun events? New clubs? Then Vote Ben Yeiser for student body president and Samuel Dawson for vice president; For a student government that won't disappoint you. Together we aim to improve the school's atmosphere, as well as bring things you’re interested in. We want to create unique fundraisers and engaging clubs. Together we can bring in what you want.
My entire life I have loved to plan and execute events, being the Junior Class President and the Newspaper Editor have taught me the skills to not only work with others while planning an event, but truly care for people in every situation. My aspiration is to become a Marketing Manager for a company to promote and plan better ways to expand the business. I hope to achieve this goal by being accepted to a business school to major in Marketing and minor in Management and stay to obtain a Master’s Degree.
My fellow tigers, today I officially announce my candidacy for Freshman Class Senator. I come before you all today, humbled by all that God has blessed me with. I am a first generation college student, I come from a single parent household and I understand how hard it was for some of us to reach this far. Although this class has not been with each other for an extended period of time, I have been able to shake some your hands, hear some of your stories, and understand how we could improve this school together. On today I think back on the rich history of Texas Southern University. I think about all that this institution and its student have had to endure over time. I think about the marches and sit in’s on the tiger walk, I think about the false stigmas that have been latched upon any student who has attended this institution, I think about the Jordans and Leland's who never gave up in the face of fear, who never lost hope
“I plan to give members of my committee more control over their initiatives,” I said before the senate body, after my appointment as the new Academic Affairs Committee Chair of the Student Government Association at Seton Hall University. Recorded for posterity in the meeting minutes, my bold idea aimed to spearhead the renaissance of a notoriously ineffective committee.
