1. I 2. I have an older sister, Delaney, who graduated from Althoff. My brother, Henry, is a junior at Althoff. 3. I am most excited about starting a new chapter of my life as I start high school. 4. I am least excited about having more responsibilities when it comes to schoolwork. 5. I currently play for the girls’ volleyball team. 6. I feel like I learn best through repetition. I often spend my free time re-reading material from class to better understand it. 7. I really enjoy reading. I started from a young age, and was always surrounded by reading material. I took it up as a hobby once I started kindergarten, and it has been part of my life ever since. 8. I enjoy writing for the most part. If I am given a topic to write about, I enjoy
I've always enjoyed writing but think it a myth that if you enjoy writing you're naturally a good writer. I have found that sometimes writing comes hard for me since I cannot peg down my ideas just as I want them or lynch that word that was on the 'tip of my tongue'. I enjoy writing when I do it it throws me up in heaven and leaves me there, excepting when I reread the piece and think it scandalous.
For the most part, I like to write. I surprise myself sometimes when I read what I have written. Essays don’t seem to be that hard for me and most of the time comes naturally to write. Ever since I was younger, reading and writing were always my strong points in school. Math and science didn’t stand
When I was a younger I don’t remember if I was read to or not, but I read a lot of books. I enjoy reading books because they allow me to reach new heights in my imagination. At my age many kids say that reading is boring and is for losers. I think it’s cool to read and will continue to read throughout my life. I have read many different types of books from fiction to biographies. The longest book I ever read was a book called Dragon Rider by Cornella Funke. It was five hundred and thirty five pages! When it comes to reading I am a superstar! When I’m reading I am able to get a moral lesson from what I read, so it ends up helping me in the long run of my life
During Spring 2015 term, I withdrew from Middlebury College due to severe thyroid infection. I had contracted the illness during Fall 2014 academic term, but my doctors, both personal and emergency, failed to understand its severe nature. So, I was cleared to go back to school for the spring term. Unfortunately for me, however, I was readmitted to Porter Hospital in Middlebury within weeks. My illness prevented me from attending classes, fulfilling my duties as a student assistant, and made me severely weak. Hence, upon pressure from the doctors and my family, I withdrew from the college and treated my illness during the spring
Another interest that I have is reading, reading allows one to expands their vocabulary. Because reading stimulates the mind it also helps in the developing the mind. Reading also allows one to learn more about one true self. I also enjoy reading because it allows one to use their
I learn best by actually finding something interesting or fun to learn about. I do not really learn by writing things down because sometimes you write something down and it is way more different than the real subject. Listening does not not help me learn also because I daydream a lot and then I do not pay attention to what is being read. Looking at pictures does a bit of the job because it helps you see things and then you will memorize them. Looking at pictures is a better way for me to learn because it is more easier to just see the pictures memorize them and then just go along with the next things. Writing things also helps me learn a bit more by just having at least relocatable notes that will help you with something later on. Sometimes I work fast and slow in my classes, it sometimes depends on how I am feeling because if I am feeling down then I do not feel like doing no work at all and if I am feeling energetic or happy i do my work and i do it very well.
The best way I learn any type of material most of the time is through visual representations. According to these survey I have filled out it seems that I learn better when it's being taught in
When I was super young I had atrocious earaches and toothaches, but reading would help me forget the pain. Reading also would help me pass the time. I have been given so many ideas by reading books for things such as writing my material, or getting through problems. It's absolutely amazing. I believe almost all books have morals and themes that can help people through problems and teach people new lessons, and I really love that about reading. I feel that when I read I can put myself into the story, and learn from the book as well as relate to the book. I also really enjoy reading because there are so many genres such as poetry, plays, and biographies to read. Reading different genres is like an entirely new adventure. I remember that I always struggled with reading non-fiction, and I hated it. Some non-fiction books were super interesting, but they either were too hard to read, or too hard to grasp. However in the eleventh grade I took AP U.S. History, and I had to read more nonfiction than I feel like I have had to read in my entire life. I read all sorts of things such as primary sources like newspapers and diary entries as well as secondary sources such as papers and books on historical
I was raised to be a Purdue fan. My dad attended in 1986, seven out of nine of his siblings attended, so growing up I was always told I could “follow in my family’s footsteps”. When I was younger I accompanied my father at Boiler sporting events, dressed to the nines in black and gold. I would clap when he clapped. Cheer when he cheered. High fived those around me like he did. However, I did not feel like I belonged there, and that is what led me here. It was not until I met David Hon, who would eventually become my stepdad, in 2010. He had graduated with a Bachelor’s degree at Indiana University, the school I was brought up to despise. One day he took me to see the campus and the flowers, trees, and the general simplicity of nature and my
As you can see, reading is not on the list of my favorite things to do. I have never enjoyed reading and I probably never will. Although it is something I would like to take up as a hobby, I never find myself having very much time to read. Reading is very time consuming and I like to do lots of fun activities like swimming, spending time with friends, and playing with my
3. I love my life just as it is, I never thought I would ever say that after I lost my mum, I still miss her greatly and I think I always will, I will cry with
Since being a child, reading used to be my favorite hobby. I would immerse myself in fiction and dive into the fantasy world. I loved the idea of getting lost in a story and forgetting all my troubles. I would read almost any book that I picked up. My favorite genres included fiction, comedy, and adventure. I found so much pleasure from reading and alienating myself from the rest of the world for a certain period of time. My parents would always read me a story before going to bed every night, this just grew my interest for reading even more.
I enjoy writing when it's on a topic I am passionate about. I like telling about my life and things that I enjoy. I am very good at writing detailed descriptions of people, places, and
One thing that definitely shaped my passion for reading was reading fantasy books. Books that talked about some faraway places because it connected with but I was told of growing up that there are places like dream. And because of that I grew fond of reading and writing which have played a significant role in my ability to tell stories.
I think that online writing assignments, in-class quizzes and discussion board assignments are pretty easy for me because I well organized and I know how better to manage my personal
