Welcome to the Brad Essex report here what i'm looking at this week. This week we are taking a break from politic. Andrew Breitbart once said politic is downstream from pop culture. So I'm going to tell you about my trip to the Eureka Heights Brewery.
It's was a lazy friday afternoon in Houston. Cloudy and humid me and my brother made the trek from Cypress to Houston. Pretty soon we were at the brewery and we meet Heather one of the owners of the Brewery. She told us about what they had and talked to my brother about the rodeo since he was a gatekeeper.
So we head to the bar. My first beer was a Wicket Awesome. A tasty light beer, It had a crisp taste to it and a little hop to it. My brother had the Moo Caliente which I'll talk about in

this was my least favorite of the batch it had a citrus taste to it that I didn't like. It was trying too hard to be a shocktop beer. Thou to be honest I will try it again just to make sure that maybe I was wrong on it.
Then Carl came over and we started talking. Then we tried two alternate Wicket awesome. One was made with Vanilla and one was made with Snickers. The Vanilla one was a smooth drink. It was like drinking a beer with ice cream it was delightful. The Snicker one thou was a miss. It sorta tasted too flat for me. You could taste the nuts in it. It ended my day on a down note as far as beers goes.
After saying bye to Carl we talked to Heather a little more and found out more about the brewery and activity it has like Sunday video games night for the retro gamer that play the games on a 20 foot screen. Also they have food trucks that come by so you can get your grub on. Spoiler alert do not go on Friday during lent. The BBQ truck was a strong temptation to me and my bro.
Also they have a Yoga night. Plus Trivia night and beer tasting night on Thursday. If you want to sample their beer they have a sampler. They also have Eureka gears and stickers to support the brand. Finally they also have cans of beers. So if you want to take some home you
In a world where large, corporate breweries rule the market, craft beer is created to please an audience that applauds the styles, techniques and flavors. Though craft beer can be purchased through several different outlets, the best place to thoroughly enjoy the entire experience of the specially made beer is in the brewery where it was made. The article titled, “In Lean Times, a Stout Dream” in The Wall Street Journal1 states that, despite the hard economic times and consequent consumer cutbacks, sales of craft beer, the industry 's fastest-growing segment, rose
For me, that would be a very unfortunate situation. I absolutely love milk, and I drink more than I should. My go to drink is chocolate milk or hot chocolate. I have hot chocolate at least twice a week, and have plain ol’ chocolate milk at least three, if not more. It doesn’t help that I have a collection of Disney mugs that I love to use, and what perfect drink to put in them besides hot chocolate. Milk is of very high need in my life, and my world would be stygian without it. Don’t get me wrong though, I enjoy root beer too. However, I drink root beer abstemiously. I think the only time I ever drink it is when I’m looking for something fizzy to drink, and it’s the only pop in our house. There are also occasions when my mom brings home little
So what makes one beer more interesting than another? It begins with the brewer, choosing ingredients, mixing flavors, and making subtle changes.
So what we did there was ride roller coasters and eat food. My favorite food there was the ice cream and dot stri. dot strip is like a sprite with flavor and it was really good. Also they have really fun rides there and really big ones that I had to hesitate for a second to ride. The first one me, Mason, and Jonathan did
The Burger & Brew Fest was created to celebrate the numerous Bay Area craft breweries. Come to the festival to try a wide variety of brews from the following:
And i met some friends there and i got to eat bacon potato and cheese little lettuce. After that we went to are grandma's house for a little bit then we went home next morning i got to
It was a tad sweeter then I typically look for in the style, but I enjoyed it all the same. I would have really enjoyed seeing where the Stranahan barrels would have taken McDaddy. From the ‘Double Nine (double) IPA’ you will get grapefruit in both the aroma and on the backend when you finally get the hop bite. It was definitely very malt forward though, which I always find odd when it comes to an IPA or DIPA. Interestingly enough my favorite beer of the day was a Dunkelweizen named ‘Wendyweizen’. It was probably the best Dunkel I have had for some time. ‘La Colada’ was the last beer in my flight. It’s an English style Porter brewed with Cuban coffee. I did get a slight roastyness from the coffee, but found the beer to be very light with not much body to it. If you’re going to brew with Cuban coffee the beer should pretty much jump up and bite you. McDaddy and La Colada were also on nitro, but I didn’t try either one. The guest tap list unfortunately blew away anything Biscayne Bay brewed in-house. With beers like Dogfish Head ‘Olde School’, Civil Society ‘Fresh’, Lagunitas ‘Brown Shugga’, Lagunitas ‘High West-ified Coffee Imperial Stout’, and M.I.A. Brew Company’s Tourist Trappe Tripel and Ultra Mix DIPA the taproom felt more like a craft beer bar than a brewery. I get the feeling Biscayne is targeting the Miami crowd who are virgins in the craft beer scene, which is why their beers seem to be a bit more on the tame side. In saying that my opinion might have been
Three hours is typically longer than I spend reviewing a brewery, but Grasslands was the only brewery I had scheduled so I had time to spare. Heading back to the hotel I grabbed food at Whattaburger. They haven’t made it down to South Florida yet so I figured it was going to be a nice treat. Unfortunately the burgers weren’t anything special. Oh well. I headed to bed knowing I had a big day a head.
The Blue Ribbon beer came in a can. It was really cold and fresh. I was impressed. The chai tea was amazing. It tasted like a dessert with cinnamon and whip cream. The salad we had tasted o.k. The was fresh and the lettuce was crispy. It had a light dressing on it but it was kind of bland. I wouldn't order it again. The roti flat bread was fresh, hot and flaky. The roti dipping sauce was a little spicy and hot. It reminded me of a jamaican beef patty and I loved
The time I went to a giant game it was on a friday me and my friend went we went with his family we got to his house and then we got his brother and his friend then we got all the stuff we needed and then we left it was a long drive from atwater to san- francisco we drove for as couple of hours and we stop a few times to get drinks and use the restroom then we finally got into san francisco but we still had to get to the baseball park and we had to park the car and that took 20 min finally we were in line to get in the park we waited for about 10 min and we got in and they gave us scarves for being the first 20,000 in the park we went and found our seats and then we went and got food we had chicken strips and garlic fries then we sat
There is a heated pool, hot tub and kiddie pool. Once the sun is no longer out and too dark to sit by the beautiful waters of the Colorado River you can walk up to the pool area and get your water fill there. Other amenities include a library, outdoor kitchen, lounge, laundry room, community room, and a fire pit. There is usually something going on during the weekends. Saturday, October 14th there was a pot luck. I brought a pot of rice and beans with cubed ham. Even though there were only the women who work at the office, it was still a nice time. They were etching wine glasses, so Andrea and I joined in and made our own. There were burgers, hotdogs, BBQ wienies (these were awesome), pork and beans, as well as sausage and peppers. Before we knew it, it was almost time for Karaoke night, which started at 7pm, and this was our cue to head for the door. We were invited to the hot tub, but we did not feel it was a hot tub night for
Outside the grandstand is the Corn Roast. They sell grilled corn that is absolutely fabulous. We each grab an ear, then head down the street towards the Giant Slide. The Giant Slide is a green and yellow wavy slide that is about fifty feet tall and
From things like watching a Hockey tournament, races along the huge decorated beds, taking part in an outside dance party (only during February 3rd), and eating a nice deep fried, delicious cinnamon and sugar, beaver tail-shaped pastry there’s surely nothing you’d want to miss out on!
We opened a growler of Tree House Brewing’s Double Shot, a bottle of Hardywood Park Craft Breweries Foolery, and a bottle of Casey Brewing’s East Bank. By the time 11:00am had rolled around the line had reached 67 craft beer loving souls. The doors were opened and ID’s were checked. The whole process ran very smooth. Folks waited in line for a few minutes until reaching the front where they chose a wristband which was color coordinated with the number of crowlers they were purchasing. Once the wristband was received we were able to purchase something from the tap menu. Other than Pulp the two hits of the morning seemed to be the two treatments of Gary. Gary is Civil’s milk stout which was treated with Hazelnuts for ‘Gary goes nuts’ and with bananas foster for ‘Gary goes bananas.’ I’m usually not a big fan of hazelnut beers, but ‘Gary goes nuts’ was delicious. ‘Gary goes bananas’ was also very good, but the hazelnut took the win for me. The last crowler of Pulp was sold just before 2:00pm to finish off Civil’s first release with flying
Firstly, the brewing process was one that Brayden was able to teach us, as e had previous experience with brewing alcohol and also owned all the equipment necessary to bring our idea to reality. I would say the amount of time spent brewing, and the challenges we faced were a little tiresome in my opinion; however, it was a fun time and I would love to try again. I am saying “try again” as our project didn’t go as anticipated. A fatal flaw in our ingredients, the adding of brown sugar as primer, led to the unfortunate demise of our cider with the untimely explosion of the bottle. This caused all our hard work and
