Struggle To Survive-Amazon River (option 4) Deep, deep down in The Amazon Forest we trekked, gently moving onwards step up step. Underneath our feet laid the forest floor. Who knew what laid there since no one had dared to enter. Many mysteries kept a secret and far away from humankind. It was late rainy season when rain was the heaviest of all year. The sound of breaking twigs, pitter patter of raindrops and rustling of vegetation was almost as sooting as a wind chime. Along with me Eternity, Alice, Groth and Levi the tour guide .I introduced myself to Levi as ‘Where’s Wally’ as I myself had no instinct of where we were. He saw the joke in that and laughed hysterically, his voice almost echoing back to us as if the canopy was a wall radiating …show more content…
A zephyr passed through and I felt like I had been possessed by a ghost, it left me in an utter awe. I ignored it thinking it was just out of the blue and got into the boat ready to paddle my way back to the home base. For the next hour we continued paddling, I heard a creak and immediately panicked wanting to know what the cause of the sound was. Levi reassured me that was nothing, but something told me it wasn’t. I tried to squeal and warn the others that I could see in a fin in the distance but I was dumbfounded and could not speak. I was just exhaling really deeply like a huge gush of wind. The creature came under our boat and hurled us over, I was drowning and almost fell at ease with death, as if I knew I was going to die and wasn’t going to battle to live. Dark murky water surrounded my eyes, no sign of the ghastly creature but blood everywhere, terror was lurking and my eyeballs were filled with the sheer fright, my brain contemplating the many circumstances I could be under. Sooner than I knew I had surfaced the water and was in search of my friends. I had spotted Eternity and Alice but there was no sign of Groth or the most significant person Levi. Without Levi the chance of our survival was zero, he was the only one to know the area and had all the vital tips and knowledge to know how to survive. Our survival chances now were close to a bottom rock absolute …show more content…
My mind was scrolling back to all the Bear Grylls survival shows but I knew that he hadn’t covered a situation with such a plot like this, it was almost the last thing you would ponder upon. On the bright side I was not alone, I had to think of something extraordinary that would help us out of this drastic situation. We all stood in a moment of silence for the fallen victims Levi and Groth. Despite knowing what dangers were upon us we were determined to fight for our lives and ultimately survive. We continued downstream in search of help or land and hoping no creature would be interested in us. Suddenly I saw a ripple of water in front of us, I wondered how that occurred as no one was at front. Incautious of the danger, we continued, all bloody and rotten smelling. BAMM!!Water was blinding me and I not able to see, when finally it occurred to me and I glanced behind me. Alice was under the water and a black caiman was holding onto her. She shrilled to the top her lungs, the sound deafening the forest. She was bleeding endlessly and was getting pulled below the surface .Eternity had a hold for her hand almost letting go. I remembered that I was carrying a knife in my pocket, I grabbed it and stabbed the beast on the back. The caiman started to scramble, took off Alice’s leg, shook his tail vigorously and headed off. Alice was unconscious as I and Eternity tried to wrap her leg up to stop her from bleeding to death. We

In my school I am part of a community service group called start something, we help people in our community who are not as fortunate, or help clean in our community to keep our city beautiful. My first community service event was the Spicket River cleanup, the Spicket River is a small river that goes through Lawrence. The river goes through many parts of Lawrence, some people’s trash ends up in the river,[every year I look forward to this event to help the environment and my community] this is why every year I look forward to participating in The Spicket River Cleanup.
His friend Brian had just gone to get some water from the river. He was worried greatly for his friend, but he had been burned badly while hot ash and wind whipped him against the ground. He started walking slowly in the direction he thought the river was to find his friend. Charles heard a faint sound in the distance. He walked over more fallen trees towards where he thought he heard it coming from. He started hearing the rivers loud crashing and walked to see that the rivers were no longer clear and blue, but they were filled with trees and filled with muddy water. They also were flooded by trees filling the river and raising the water level along with extra melting from the Mountain. He heard the cry for help louder and kept walking to the sound. He found the source. It was Brian mangled in between two trees that hit each other. His face was dripping streams of blood, created from mixing with tears that he was
In Eagle River, Wisconsin June of 2006 my parents and I made the 30 minute drive from my brothers camp, Kawaga, to mine, Chippewa. I was seven years old sitting in the back seat of this car thinking about how my brother, Max, loves his camp so I would too. However, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. We arrived and my parents stopped the car to take a picture of me in front of the big red rustic sign “Chippewa Ranch Camp” it said. As we drove down the long dirt driveway it finally hit me that I was about to get out of this car and not see my parents for an entire month. I couldn’t even spend the night out I would call them to pick me up at midnight from my friends homes, how in the world was I going to survive four whole weeks of
The deafening silence of the woods sent chills down his spine. He was oblivious to the barbaric beast watching his every step. The dead air was broken by the rustle of the autumn leaves. In a blink he turned, looked behind, but nothing.
Jon abruptly came to a conclusion: I must be under the city of San Francisco. He had head stories of the great underside of the city, but no one was said to be allowed in, save construction teams and guards. Jon theorized that he must have floated down the Sacramento river after his helicopter crashed. They were near the river when he had blacked out. Or Jon was dead, but he was just ignoring that possibility for the time being. Jon looked again at the columns reaching up into the base of the city. He had to get out of here. Jon moved towards the nearest column and began to inspect it. At the base of the column, four support legs stretched out, stabilizing the contraption. Examining the column more, Jon noticed a ladder that stretched up into
A big smile breaks out on my face. Big red is what I call the big red outrigger canoe we own. I kiss dad on the cheek and rush out of the study. Big Red was were mom and me would spend our hours. Exploring the island together was my favorite pastime. Now that's she's gone I still go out almost everyday to feel close to her. I clutch the seashell necklace pendant she game me right before she passed away, sighing I tuck it into my shirt. As I climb on the canoe I push the big vessel out away from the dock so I can put up the sail. Big Red glides effortlessly through the crystal clear water. Looking down u can see all the exotic fish and corals of all different colors. I could live in this moment forever. I see some dark clouds in the corner of my and my heart stops. I quickly turn to the direction of the darkened sky and realize if I don't get home I'm going to be caught in a big storm. With all the effort I could muster I turn the rudder all the way to the right. The wind started hitting my face harder and the water became choppy. Struggling to keep the canoe afloat I saw an island in the distance. There's no way I making it home in this weather. CRACK! The mast snaps in half and falls right toward me. I watch it fall right next to me causing the wing of the boat to break off. I feel my body thrown into the air and hit the water, hard. Completely submerged in water I struggle to
At some point on this 3 hour round trip we came across a massive tree that was over hanging and blocking most of the river. Immediately, the Garmans moved swiftly out of the way, and my canoe followed directly behind following and learning their every move. On the right side the tree was incased by rapids that crashed and flowed beneath the thick branches of the gnarled looking oak. The Martens on the other hand didn’t have time to turn and avoid the tree, soon enough they were headed strait for it. All four of them hit a branch at full speed as I saw them grab a branch and hoist themselves up and safety clime away from the water. All at the same time the 17 foot metal canoe disappears like a magicians wave of the wand. Dumbfounded, we all realize the canoe was sucked down into the water under the tree, and everything went still. Suddenly, Austin and I are on a sand bank along with all the Garman kids, our fathers go and get the marten girls and bring the back to us. All three dads try to pull the canoe free and give up after 10min as they realize it wont budge. And we were trapped, there is no way we can fit everyone on just 2 canoes, and we had no way of getting it out. The canoe was caught, and suctioned under water that was moving dangerously fast, and all plans seemed to fail. I remember thinking about how long it
According to the instructor, the river was supposed to be no more than three feet deep, yet her head was out of our sight. We were very alarmed, so we swam furiously as quickly as we could to where she was. After a few minutes of struggling to get away from the rocky areas we managed to get her tube back and threw it to her. As we were recovering from the incident and getting back into completing our activity, I felt something thick and slimy wrapped along my leg which caused me to start panicking once again. It took me a few seconds to realize that it was just a cluster of plants and twigs. After the alarming incident, I was extremely shaken but thought that nothing bad could happen again. I was wrong. I then noticed that the aftermath of the collision resulted in a small opening in my tube, which allowed the air to begin flowing out. I got stuck and could no longer move away in the water without sinking. As I had discovered earlier, the water was quite deep. I once again felt worried and so many thoughts were rushing through my mind. My friends tried helping me but the currents dragged them away, further down the
They must’ve followed me here. I can’t let Nick hurt them too. I start walking in the direction of the yelling until I come out of the trees. He sees me now. I yell for him to leave her alone and it does the trick. He throws Molly off to the side and starts coming after me. I run in the opposite direction but he catches up to me, or maybe I let him. He pushes me around, throwing punches and knocking me to the ground. I am surrounded by NIck and his friends. He picks up a stick and swings it at my head. I duck and push against Gordon. He goes over the edge and a loud crack and then a splash is heard. He must have hit the platform and fell into the water. This angers Nick even more and he smashes the branch against the back of my head. For a moment everything goes black and then I am on the ground. I try to get up but Nick shoves me. I lose my balance for a moment but get back up, grabbing a rock in the process. I take the rock in my hand and smash it against Matt's head. The sound was deafening. He let out a shriek as it cracked his skull and he hit the ground. That was the last straw. Nick ran at me from behind. His momentum carried the both of us into the dark waters below. As soon as I hit the water I start flailing my limbs desperately trying to get away from Nick. This is bad, I can not swim. I never thought I would go out drowning. My body is getting weaker and my movements are slowing until I am no longer moving. Nick splashes behind me and is quickly getting closer. Everything goes quiet before I am pushed into the chilly water. I struggle against the hands holding me under but it is to no avail. I am so tired. I need air, I can feel my head pounding. The urge to inhale to getting harder to fight by the second. It is all going dark. I give in and inhale the dark water, Then it all
As I kept looking at the beast, unable to move away, I realized that it had the frame of a bear however, was about 3x bigger than an average sized grizzly bear and was covered in dark black fur matted with a dark red outline, which I imagined was blood. As I kept staring at the beast I noticed that it had paws but instead of having stubs for toes, it had claws that were sharper than knives and just looking at them made me feel as if I were cut up into a million little pieces. The beast towered over me on the other side of the river standing at 5 meters tall, ready to pounce towards me, its next official meal. I didn’t have time to think about what was going to happen next. I was in a constant cycle of fear and awe, afraid that such a beast could exist but in awe that it did exist. As it leaped towards my frozen body, time slowed and I was staring straight at the beast until I realized, that I was about to die. I finally snapped out of it but realized I was too late, as the beast was already moments away from swiping at my face and eating the remains of my
Eager and hopeful, I rushed to put it around my chest and braced for my last shot of survival. With all their strength, they tugged on the rope, moving me inch by inch out of the treacherous waters and onto dry land. Trying to find my footing, I hobbled back to the four-wheeler bundling in all of the clothing I could acquire. I was rushed back to the camp where a warm shower was waiting for me. It took at least 10 minutes idling in the steaming water to finally regain feeling in my toes and fingers as they tingled when the warm water hit them. Realizing that I was going to be okay, I jumped out the shower to put on dry clothes to go express my gratitude to my friends for saving
My parents and I were on a beautiful vacation to French guyana in the rainforest we were camping there for a week. We decided to go and investigate the rainforest for fun. Then we saw a waterfall. As i was imaging the beautiful waterfall I tripped . I realize that I tripped over a decaying tree. I saw an amazing beetle. I had to get a closer look so I went closer . Then I picked up the amazing Beetle. I realized I studied it before we came on this trip. Suddenly I felt that meat sounded nasty. Then ,my mom said that we are having steak for dinner. I usually say “ That sounds great.” But this time I yelled “NO!”.
It was a long time ago. I was hoping it would never have happened again. I should have when we went into the water. It was as big as the submarine that we were in. It was probably even bigger then our submarine.Gulp is the sound my throat made when I swallowed my water. I was really thirsty from the night. I do not know why yet but it got super hot in my little cubie. I fell off my bed with a loud thud. That is what awoke me. That is when it happened I realized that the ship was sinking. That is when I knew there was no hope for me. I gave up with hope that someday someone will carry on my legacy with catching the beast.
The boat sped up, and swiftly it drifted toward a dark, narrow tunnel. A nervous twitch ran through my body. I felt more comfortable being out in the wide open expanse, but in the tunnel, I couldn't anticipate what would lie ahead. I gripped the flashlight and shined it out in front of us as we immersed in the darkness. My breathing turned heavy. It was just as dark as the tunnel we had come through, only now I felt more vulnerable, having no control over the water’s current.
