I believe I have made progress from where I started at the beginning of this course. At first I did not know anything about the soundtrack of a movie other than that is the music that we are able to listen to while we watch the movie. I was very excited to learn more about the music played in the Star Wars saga, but at the same time I was scared. I had never seen the movies before and I had absolutely no knowledge about music or musical terminology. Either way I decided to take a challenge by continuing in this class and learn the most I could. This has become true to me. I am in a better place when it comes at listening and analyzing the music in the movies. I got better at recognizing the different themes and the variations in them, as
A film soundtrack refers to the original music that is written and composed to accompany a given film. A number of cues, instrumentals and orchestral music make part of it. They are carefully timed to start and end at specific moments during the films performance so as to make the narrative better as well as improve the emotional impact of certain scenes. In this paper, we perform a critical analysis of Hans Zimmers "Interstellar" soundtrack.
Music plays a critical role in the narrative films as it is important technique that filmmakers use to support the narrative and influence the way that the viewer interacts, responds and interprets the events as they unfold. The godfather, which is one of all time Hollywood movies, represents a good use of music that succeeded in supporting the dramatic events that take place in the movie. Moreover, both diegetic and non-diegetic music in the godfather movie are used to achieve the overall purpose by using the different principles and functions of film music that range from setting the mood of the viewer to providing continuity within the movie. In this essay, we will take part of the godfather movie in which we can observe and analyse the
Music also plays a key role in reminding the audience that this movie took place in the past.
In 1977 and today Star Wars is a major sci-fi success. Star Wars follows the twelve stage hero’s journey which was created by Joseph Campbell. The hero’s journey explains the journey that the hero’s takes to achieve great deeds and personal growth. The articles Pathway to Bliss by Joseph Campbell and A Myth for Our Time by Andrew Gordon helps explain the changes from boy to man in Luke. In this essay I will explain how Luke changes from childhood to manhood using the articles A Myth for Our Time by Andrew Gordon and Pathway to Bliss by Joseph Campbell, to analyze the film Star Wars and Luke’s journey with it.
In the original three films of the Star Wars saga, the theme of individuality plays a huge role in the development of the characters and the good versus evil dichotomy as a whole. The Empire oppresses individuality within their officers and stormtroopers, whereas the Rebels embrace it within their troops. In the prequels, the usage of individuality gets needlessly complicated. The strict Jedi Code seems to encourage all jedi to act like emotionless machines. Lucas establishes the clones and droids as completely identical and expendable soldiers, making battle scenes relatively unengaging. However, in the animated series The Clone Wars, this lack of individuality in clones and droids gets a do-over. The creators of this show accomplish the improbable by imbuing the battle droids and clones with individuality. Additionally,
“What is the boy doing?” I asked. “He’s just resting; looks like these tired” General Horneck responded.
We all showed up at Grant’s house at around 10:30. I showed up second to last and I walked up to his house on Grandview. Everybody was inside playing on Bryan’s computer. I’ve never been in his house before, so it was a little weird. I walked in and his dog, Oliver, attacked me. He was a fairly big dog that looked like he weighed as much as me. He was still a puppy so he was a hyper dog. I slowly went over to Bryan so the dog wouldn’t attack me. I was already tired and I wasn’t too sure why. I had to find something that would keep me up. So I went over to his TV and started watching South Park. The episode was of Cartman stealing votes from different states so Obama would be president again, so he could be in the new Star Wars movie.
First and foremost, I would like to say thank you and show my appreciation for the ability to make up the Jedi versus Scott game tonight. Unfortunately , I have to inform you of events from tonight's game that were very unfortunate. For starters there was no game card for the coaches to sign and put comments of tonight's game and discrepancies. I was allowed a sub during the end of the second half. Before the sub process was complete , the ref on Center named Christian put ball in play. I did not have a full defense. This resulted in a goal. There was a goal caught in the opposing team's goal. The goal was counted. Whenever I approached the ref at the end of the game to sign the card, he had immediate attitude. I asked him about the sub situation.
Stories are magic; that’s what my old literature told me. They can transport you to the furthest reaches of space, to the far distant past, to the arms of a lover, to the death of your comrades, even if it is all a lie. He was right: Stories are magic, they are the one magical thing we have in this world. Movies are the best way to tell a story; to show the world your story, to make your story -- your lie, you untrue truth -- beautiful, to make it terrible, ugly, bold, stunning, unbelievable, and most importantly, to make them real. I love film. It is my passion, my life; I was raised on them, before I could walk my mom had put Star Wars in my little VHS tv. I know I am meant to make movies, but in their current state, they infuriate me.
When the time comes for your favorite movie or series of movies to drop a sequel, you obtain a duty to prepare yourself for it no matter if you’re a common fan or die hard fan like myself. You’ve been bestowed a service to devote your time to a greater cause, rather than yourself. My time came when I had to prepare myself for Star Wars: The Force Awakens debut.
I believe in the force. I believe everyone and everything is connected by a force. Not quite like the force you see on Star Wars, but not very different from it. I mean a spiritual connection. A force that controls all our emotions, behaviors and attractions. I believe the force is in everything. I believe it is everything. I believe it is me and you. My force makes me who I am. It defines me, as well as my actions.
Energetic music blasted from the speakers that were strewn all over the park. The boardwalk was as crowded as a stadium. My vision was almost assulted by all the vibrant colors and shining lights. I looked to the left, at my cousin. She was grinning. She knew what was coming. I looked to the right, at all the other rides. The swinging Pendolo, the totally wild Tilt-a-Whirl, and the musical Super Himalaya. At last, I looked ahead, straight at the Starship 3,000.
To get to the origins of the billboard, we need to start with the story of Star Wars. In 19xx George Lucas has an idea that become Star Wars. In 1976, with the first novel, and again in 1977 with the release of the motion picture that idea became a reality. But not even Lucas knew what a phonomenia it would become. He captured not only the minds but the hearts of the public. Those most enraptured with his work would clamber for every scrap we could get are hands on. It was slow coming after the Original Trilogy was released. Then through the dedication of a lone Lucasfilm employee, Lucy Autrey Wilson, The Thrawn Trilogy by Timothy Zahn was published.
LISTENER RELEVANCE: Since film scores are such an important part of movies, it makes sense to learn a little bit more about them.
In the movies, there are a number of factors that will impact the quality of the film and the story. This is because producers and directors are using different techniques that will enhance their ability to entertain. The Sound of Music is taking numerous ideas and is integrating them together. To fully understand what is happening, there will be an examination of the film and various concepts. This will be accomplished by focusing on: the storytelling, acting, cinematography, editing, sound, style / directing, impact of the film on society / vice versa, genre, application of at least one approach and overall textual themes. Together, these elements will highlight the effects of the film and how it has influenced others inside the industry.
