Personal Plan to Succeed
I have thought long and hard about the question proposed on my personal place to succeed. There is lots of things to think about and to take into consideration. I will talk about why my graduate studies are so important to me, which include where I was before I decided to go to the University of Phoenix. I will also discuss how I am going to achieve the goals that I have set for myself and what obstacles will be in my way that I will have to overcome.
Personal Plan to Succeed
I graduated with my BA degree in July 16, 2016 and I quickly jumped into graduates studies at the University of Phoenix because I made a decision long ago when I decided to get my degree that if I was going to do this, then I was going to go all the way. There are two reasons for this, one I wanted to gain as much knowledge about my career field as I could. I knew the more knowledge that I acquired the better I would feel. I believe that knowledge is power and I wanted to be powerful. Second, this may be a little selfish but this reason has to do with one thing and that is money. I want to make as much money as I can in my field. I knew that I did not want a lower management position. I knew that I wanted to be the big boss in upper management and along with that type of title comes a big payoff.
In terms of goals it is very important to set short term and long term goals. I have set my short term goals as one class at a time, just get a great grade in this class whatever
This Semester I want to set some goals for myself. I am going to set goals for myself in language Arts, Math, science, and P.E. I am going to have goals for myself outside of class too you should make goals for yourself too.
During our class readings and discussion, we learned about setting S.M.A.R.T goals, which shows how to structure your goals. After reading this chapter, I wanted to set some realistic goals for this course and this program. The S.M.A.R.T. goals that I’ve set for this course are to learn to be more
Some of the goals this year is to get good grades on most of the subjects. What I will do to accomplish that is I will listen in class and study for more than one day. Something I’ve done right I want to continue doing is to read a lot of books and writing excellent essays. I also want to do better in Social Studies. I will do this by studying history facts every week.
Goals are a part of everyday life. From gaining the strength to get out of bed in the morning to winning that blue medal around your neck, everybody has made a goal once in their life. Sometimes it can be as easy as saying you’re not going to eat that last cupcake on the platter in front of you or as hard as saying “Hello” to that special someone in your life that you find adorable, either way you have made a goal. It’s also important to remember there is short term goals and long term goals. Short term goals are easier to achieve and can be very helpful in leading up to your long term goals. We can even classify our goals into personal goals, academic goals, and professional goals, as well as others.
In August of 2007 I decide to further my education and attend classes at the University of Phoenix. I was in customer service as a bartender and waitress and have three children. I had my children young but knew I had the potential to improve the quality of my life and apply personal experience in my field of interest. Since personal experience was not enough, I knew I had to get the credentials to pay forward.
It is an english class that is more focused on the specifics of reading and writing. The goals I have for this class is to pass with a satisfying grade. That has always been my goal for all classes I take. Of course I know that there is more to classes than a grade. But I see the grade as most important. The concepts and lessons that are taught obviously should stick with the students. However to me, memorizing the work for the test is first priority. Setting goals for myself when it comes to my classes is something I need to work
My goals at Appalachian State University are to gain education needed to become a superior leader and gain knowledge about other communities and groups of people. While at Appalachian State, I plan on pursuing a degree in Management with hopes of becoming a community leader in the future. Management will help me meet new people and explore how others think outside of Randolph County. It is essential to broaden your horizons and develop interpersonal skills to become successful in the future. I feel like a University such as Appalachian State is an exemplary institution for learning about management, the way others ruminate, and meeting new peers and sharing ideas. Appalachian’s diverse community will prepare me for a career in management and success in the future by enabling me to express my ideas and learn about others as well.
These smaller goals can span any amount of time, short-term or long-term (Massey, 2014). Having smaller sub-goals will help make the main goal appear more achievable, and celebrating the completion of each of these sub-goals will serve as a catalyst to keep the student excited and motivated as they continue along their educational journey (Williams, 2014). By not setting smaller goals and missing larger goals, students will get discouraged and feel like failures (Williams, 2011).
However, earning a graduate degree would be a stepping stone into beginning my career as a student affairs professional. The degree would allow me to begin by working in residence life which will contribute to my understanding of the importance of living on campus for overall student success. After obtaining the knowledge and skills necessary I will continue my education and obtain a doctorate which will allow me to conduct further research and take on more leadership roles within student affairs.
In order to be successful academically there are some things we need to know, goal setting is one of them and maybe not a lot of us know how to meet educational goals without getting side tracked by other things that are going on in our life. I had no idea how much I needed to think about how I would help myself continuing my academic success until this general education class I had to take opened my mind to new ideas. Setting educational goal
This semester at AUM I have identified three SMART goals. My first goal is to form better study habits and quit being such a heavy procrastinator. In order to be successful, I have to break my bad habits. The things I did in high school will not work in college. My second goal is to earn a 4.0 GPA this semester. I came to college to succeed. Since I am paying for my tuition it would be in my best interest to earn the highest GPA I can in order to have a better chance at receiving scholarships. My last goal is to maximize my potential by utilizing the different techniques I learned about my learning style. If I am able to this, I have been assured that I will learn more effectively. Hopefully by doing this I will actually retain the information
As a result of reading this article. I have chosen two very specific personal action-oriented goals. They are to stay active in class and to participate to the fullest and to communicate with the Professor and my classmates to get a better understanding of the classwork.
Something else I learned from completing this assignment was effective goal-setting. When we set goals, they should be:
Everyone has dreams and goals. Those desires that, no matter what, you will never give up until you reach them. For me, graduating from an outstanding university with an undergraduate degree in the architecture program is the most prominent on my current list. I am nearing the end of this journey. I will be completing the undergraduate portion of my desire. With that said, I now set my sites higher on a loftier goal and a more exceptional dream. The new target, is acceptance to an equally extraordinary graduate school so I may further my education taking the necessary steps to reach my apex. My greatest aspiration, is to become a licensed architect working towards eventually owning my own firm. I established, very early in my life, the intention of becoming a licensed architect eventually owning my own firm.
