Part 1:
Throughout this course I learned about the importance of personal responsibility. I personally have trouble buying completely into the idea that every single thing that happens to you in your life is just the results of choices you have made. However, I do strongly believe that even though you may not have control over everything that happens to you, you do have control over how you react to situations and events. Accepting personal responsibility is not trying to assign blame when something bad happens. What has happened has happened, the situation will still exist no matter how many people you pin down who were at fault. Instead, accept it and try to do what you need to get past the moment. For that reason I feel accepting personal

I learned the importance of setting short-term goals, which what it is, is basically breaking down your long-term goals into parts which we call short -term goals. So, they're basically like ladders to your ultimate goal. Another thing which I found useful were the time management exercises. Such as the quadrant chart, I found that I've been spending too much and unnecessary time in both quadrant 3 and 4. So, it was more of a realization thing for me, personally. So that's definitely gonna be beneficial to helping me use my time more efficiently. Something else I found useful were the money-management exercises. Writing down my expenses was never something that I've done, in which I should have because they probably would have saved me a lot of money. But all that matters is I'm doing it now, it helped me realize where most of my money was being spent, even if it was a little transaction's like 5 dollars or 10, they all add up to a number which actually surprises you in the end. And the last thing is the Academic Planner, or just having a planner in general with special events on it, or maybe even goals. If you hang it up somewhere it focuses you towards your goal and serves as a daily reminder of what events are about to occur. So basically you're always reminded of what's to come which gives you the ability to manage time better, to fit those
?I cant accept my responsibility. If we were all responsible for everything that happened to everyone, we?d had anything to do with, it would be very awkward, wouldn?t it??
A lack of personal responsibility can cause many problems. Not only for the person who is making the choice not to take personal responsibility but for the people around them. One such example related to law enforcement could be if an officer with a department vehicle doesn't get the
Accountability is also a personal issue. Personal accountability is the act of taking responsibility for your actions in the workplace or other situations. Rather than directing blame on others the individual should seek to understand their own contribution towards the situation and how they could make the situation better. As most people do not interpret situations the same way you must learn to recognize the different communication styles and behaviors of others. Although we are not accountable for what happens beyond our control we can control how we respond to it. Our behavior and attitude defines who we are and our character. We have to learn from our mistakes and take responsibility for what happens and how we choose to handle the situation. We can sit back and let things happen as
In many situations in my life, I have been personally accountable for my actions. Every part of being who I am has something to do with morality. Being responsible and accountable for what I do is something I take very personally. It is a key point in my personality and a critical part of being part of the US Army.
According to Downing, author of On Course, when it comes to personal responsibility, there are two ends of the spectrum: creator and victim. A creator is someone who believes they have the sole responsibility for the outcome of their life, they understand that their actions have been ineffective, and strive to change them to “create the best results they can” (21-22). Though he uses different language to explain, Stephen Covey, author of The Seven Habits of
Learning resources that could be used to further my growth and study such as setting up conference with parents and using my online training that my job provided me to help me on day to day basis since every situation different. I learned that different people have different plans on getting better some takes longer while others get better faster some can perform more things quicker and better while for others it takes time. I’ve learned to evaluate my client assignments by observing their day to day activities, behaviors and
Due to my recent troubles at work I have been counseled twice in the past several weeks. This has given me a lot of time to reflect at the way I have really presented myself in the Army thus far. I have not always been the best Soldier that I could have been during most of the time I that I have been in so far. Thinking about this does bother me, it means that I could be trying harder to get ahead and better myself as a Soldier and a person. Lets say for example I have been late to work twice in the past several weeks not only to include missing a pt formation altogether. I did this by not ensuring that i had met alo of my neds to ensure that i woudl wake up in the morning. But by doing
teaches you how to prioritize your work and figure out what is most important. Make a list of what
Personal responsibility to me means taking accountability for your own actions, Making a commitment and sticking to it. In order to be a success in college, you have to apply your life learned lessons to the equation, to balance both school and out of school priorities. Because You are responsible for the choices you make, you are ultimately responsible for your success. Becoming a master organizer and learning how to manage your time efficiently, will help you achieve your goals. Taking responsibility for all that happens while you are in college will help you prevail in areas, where you may have lacked confidence. Critical thinking and a desire to succeed will help you accomplish your goals.
Some of the strategies I want to keep and start applying to become more successful student are to Plan weekly study times, log onto Blackboard a minimum three times per week, work hard, and set SMART goal. Planning weekly study time and check Blackboard are very important to me because I need to know how my schedule will be for all of my class and when my assignment due. For each week I have to work hard complete all the tasks on my weekly plan and I want my goal to be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound for exactly what I want to achieve so It will keep me focused on what I want and what I have to do to get there.
My first learning experience is how we learned to manage and spend money wisely. Multiple times throughout the year we had to decide if we wanted to spend money from are budget or if we personally wanted to bring in money. From this I learned that sometimes you need to balance your money weather it be buying something with a debit or a credit card or to pay in cash. The next thing I learned was how to wisely spend money, for instance asking yourself do I really need this or is it a want. Also by choosing to buy high quality for more money or less money but having stuff last half the amount of time. The last thing I learned about money management was how to save money. Some of the ways I was taught was by looking for deals or giving up on some of the small things that I want. Say I
The theme of the second podcast is Personal Responsibility. A metaphor is made between a simple marshmallow survey with kindergarteners to patience in poverty. I never really saw to much of a connection between these two scenarios, except for the idea of waiting to have kids. It is similar to biology how there are K and R species. K species produce fewer offspring but provide much more care for each individual, whereas R species produce more offspring, but care less for each individual. Those who choose to wait longer, when they are married and financially stable, might create a better family life for their child. An old woman who lives in a rough part of town is interviewed about her perspective on poverty. The woman being interviewed worked
Holding one’s self responsible for actions taken in a positive and negative light are to me, requirements of adulthood. Responsibility comes with being punctual in paying your bills, being at work ,
Without a doubt the lessons and exercises on time management were the most meaningful to me. They brought insight into why I seemed to be constantly working yet still never really got anything I wanted to accomplish throughout the day finished. I realized the majority of the activities I had been spending the most time on didn’t reflect my values of hard work and self discipline and long term academic goals to be successful in college. This motivated to completely change the way I managed my time by effectively striking a balance between my maintenance, committed, and free time.
What I didn’t learn from my highschool class is how to properly set goals. I didn’t know that there was a process and I didn’t realize how helpful it is writing down goals and physically seeing them. I was able to learn S.M.A.R.T goals which helps you structure your goals to a achievable standard. I also learned the different types of goals like long term, short term, and immediate. I learn how important goal setting can be and how it helps you better achieve them.
