Personal Statement: My Passion For Civil Engineering

This was the motivating factor in my decision to pursue civil engineering in one of the premier universities of my country, namely Gitam University. As I started my coursework and explored the world of Civil Engineering, I surprisingly found it to be much more challenging and understood that it requires a multidimensional approach.

Living in hope, with our beliefs and with little expectation of others is the way forward. My parents, simple and honest people, have high expectations of me wishing that I grew to be an honorable human being, just like them. Martin Luther King’s life inspires the determined and I agree that to give up in life or stop is deplorable. Irrespective of the hurdles, to push forward with all of one’s might is the only way to succeed. Living this philosophy, my father, a genuine rags to riches story, altered my life, leading by example and encouraging me to follow the path of righteousness.

Engineering is the life-line of this fast developing world, and I have always dreamt to be a part of it. Over the years, this dream has developed into a passion. Fuelled by the rapid strides made in this field, I sincerely hope to contribute significantly to the efforts that are under way to meet the ever-increasing demands of mankind.

Students learn about building and maintaining bridges, airports, highways, railroads, buildings and reservoirs. This construction degree requires knowledge of business, economics, management and engineering. Construction engineering is different from construction management because students focus on the math, science and engineering principles used to design projects, analyze problems and create quality solutions. I seem to have always had an underlying passion for infrastructure. That is a fact which I only came to fully comprehend during the summer. One of my greatest passions is reading. Whether it’s a biography, a thriller, a newspaper or even blogs, you’ll find me reading during my free time. When I was younger, I enjoyed reading during meals. While others were watching TV, I was either busy reading the bible or going through the newspaper to learn more on the current events. As I grew older, the habit grew and when I went to college, I had an easy time going through books during my research.

Born in a civil engineer family, being a civil engineer seems to be something deem to do for me.
