Personal Statement: Purdue

“Anyone can have a job, but not everybody can have a career." My sister instilled this notion in my mind causing me to make my education a main priority. Those wise words encourage me to be an excellent leader that may help this school keep its original mission of having educated the minds of students in all ways possible. I am committed to maintaining the relationship between God, friends, and family. Notre Dame provides various types of courses that establish a foundation for my growth and bonds of both education and faith.

I chose NDSU because I feel like I was pretty well acquainted with the campus during my time in high school. Each summer, for FFA, my chapter, along with others from across the state, spent a week here competing in different agricultural competitions. Also, I talked with alumni from this nursing program, and they all said it was set up very well, and also put them on a track to getting a good job afterwards. When I came for a tour earlier this spring, I got to hear a speech from the Dean of nursing, and I just sort of felt like this was the right place. On a side note, I like being here because of the agricultural side of NDSU as well, even if I’m not necessarily going into a field pertaining to it. It seems more like home to me, when the person next to me, going into Vet Tech, rides horse as much as I did.

Before I answer the questions posed, I believe an explanation is owed regarding this request for admission into Saybrook. I originally applied to The Chicago School of Professional Psychology seeking a degree in business psychology. Since the program was not ready to start for another year, it was suggested that I take courses in the international psychology program. I thoroughly enjoyed this new experience with an opportunity to “think global”. I optioned to remain in this program with a concentration in organizations and systems. As I sojourned through, I was always aware that there was still something missing. Although I loved being part of the IP program, my roots are deeply entrenched in the world of organizational development (OD).

Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) offers a lot for us, students, in the Residence Halls. Comfortable lounges for us to study and hang out with our friends, free cable, accessible water fountains, and microwaves and mini-fridges are already provided for us. However, something valuable is missing from our Residence Halls that would have been a huge plus to living on campus. Where are our kitchens? The meal options at OLLU are great, but the food at the Cyber Café tends to get boring and bland, and the Sister Annie B's Cafeteria can get crowded with long lines to get food. Cooking is what makes food exciting and more gratifying, but without a kitchen, how will we ever learn to cook for ourselves and enjoy food? The new

As a pre-med hopeful, my criteria for colleges has been the following: the college must have a strong biology program, particularly in genetics, as I plan to major in biology with a concentration in genetics and biotechnology. My ideal college must have a plethora of research opportunities, and it must be affordable for my family. Middle Tennessee State University has met and exceeded all my standards. After applying to colleges with steep tuitions, I realized that I needed to choose a university that would allow me to graduate with little to no debt. My mother had taken courses at MTSU, so I searched the college online and discovered its exceptional biology program. No other Tennessee state school I had researched before had as many in-depth classes as MTSU has.

Who we are is a concoction of our life journey, relationships, tastes, goals, and countless other things. I am a family girl from Mexico who is a first generation college student. My family is the greatest part of who I am. They would give and do anything for me and vice versa. Life has brought me to the construction science program at Texas A&M and I could not be more excited to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Personal Statement Religion, whether perceived as some kind of deep, emotional experience, a social institution, or the divine grace bestowed by gods or goddesses, nevertheless, functions as the heartbeat of any given society. This societal foundation, which definitely manifests itself in Egypt, an original cradle of civilization, must be studied, observed, and encountered in every way possible in order to balance and comprehend all of the dynamic expressions of humanity. As a Religious Studies major, whose future goal is to become and Islamic Studies professor, this internship at the American University in Cairo is the best opportunity I could ever hope to acquire. After high school, I am going to attend Texas A&M to get an undergraduate degree in public economics and after that I will pursue further education at the Texas A&M Law School. I am going to get a degree in law so that when I graduate I can be a partner in my family's law firm. For the past couple of years I have toyed with the thought of either going to join the marines or being a lawyer but in the end I came to the conclusion that becoming a lawyer was the best bet for me; three generations of my family have done it and I would like to fill their shoes and carry out tradition.

Going to college will be a massive step in my life, even graduating from high school. First off, I plan to major in Accounting and become a Public Certified Accountant. I have been told that it will be hard, just going to class will not cut it. You have to be on top of schoolwork making sure you have it turned in on time and more. I chose K-State University because I could see my future there on campus getting through it all. I thought K-State had the best Business program and so much more. Looking at other colleges wasn’t a bad choice but I couldn’t see myself on their campus as much as I did with K-State. Second, I want to get involved in groups that would be good for me. I do not know all the kinds of groups are on campus but I’m sure I will find out. I hope to start off with

The Purdue Honors College is an excellent program which would add many great new opportunities to my education. I have always enjoyed a challenge in my education, and the community and resources available would only help to further support this. Primarily, the learning community to which I would be exposed would create an enhanced academic environment, as I would live in the Honors Residence and take Honors courses with a diverse group of individuals who share my passion for learning. Furthermore, being a part of this dedicated community would expose me to a wide range of beliefs and ideas coming from a highly motivated group of individuals and therefore would allow me to further grow as a person.

During my senior year of high school, my paternal grandmother was very ill with cancer. My paternal grandmother would always talk about how happy she would be if I went to UC Davis for my bachelor's degree. She mentioned my older brother’s dream school as a great school for my passions. With her health declining, I decided to fulfil one of her biggest hope and dreams. My grandmother passed away in the summer of 2016 and I knew she would be able to pass on to the afterlife happy, knowing her grandchildren are going to achieve at their highest potential in the future. Although I am grateful for my own achievements, support from my family and where it has taken me, UC Davis was not truly the place I want to be. I truly wanted to attend a school

Before I was accepted to this University back in 2012, my school took us on a trip to visit the school. When we arrived on the bus I was so excited. When I stepped off the bus, I knew that this school was made for me. The way the school looked to the way they operated fit me. The operation of the school is very easy to learn and easy to adapt to. The operation included easy access to counselors for first year students as well as transfer students. This is very helpful for the students who are new to school and do not have anyone to show them around, like I did not. I also loved the way they had Freshman’s in particular dorms

There are countless reasons why I have chosen Xavier University of Louisiana. Xavier will guide me to exceed all of my expectations with plenty of effort, focus, and determination. One of my main reasons for coming to Xavier is the wonderful biology pre-med program. I know that Xavier's dedicated faculty has helped many African Americans attain their goals of completing medical school. Whether a professor teaches an essential concept or an academic advisor assists with application processes, Xavier has all of the resources I will need to go to medical school. Out of all of the skin care products in the world, your bathroom cabinet needs to be filled with products researched and designed by me. When I entered high school, I discovered my passion for selecting lip sticks, lip glosses, lotions, perfumes, and makeup foundations. You name it. After learning about the connections between the information in my chemistry class and these items, a light bulb went off! I maintained an A average in chemistry throughout the whole year! Additionally, in 2014, I became a student in the Academy of Engineering and Technology, which also heightened my interests in chemistry. In a science fair at that academy, there was a chemistry course where we made colorful slime, and during that process, I learned that I get an adrenaline rush when I am mixing different chemicals together to see what the outcome is. Majoring in chemistry at Norfolk State University will definitely prepare me for a very successful future in chemistry! My ultimate goal is to conduct research and development for chemical cosmetics. I plan to obtain employment at the greatest companies in the world such as L'Oréal and Avon.
