It is a creature created by God. We are extraordinary machines full of mystery images of God and we were made to serve God. “Human beings are created in the image of God and thus possess personality, self-transcendence, intelligence, morality, gregariousness and creativity” (Sire, 2009). In postmodernism and scientism human beings are created by matter and there is no foundation of human beings from the beginning or why we exist.

Why is it possible to know anything at all? Pastor Alin explains this as “Human beings can know both the world around them and God Himself because God has built into them the capacity to do so and because He takes an active role in communicating with them. (Alin, 2015).

Worldview is how you view the world around you and your place in it. Obviously a worldview is shaped and expanded over the course of a lifetime by many different influences. It is important to really examine your worldview and support it using many viewpoints. This paper will be made up of three parts all incorporating my worldview. In the first part I will explain my worldview in detail. In the second part I will be comparing my worldview to another. Finally, in the third part I will use my worldview to support my stance on an ethical dilemma of abortion.

Flashback to 2006, it’s the midst of fall and recess have just begun. The red and whites of the Danish flag blows in the cool wind and inside a girl from second grade puts on her cozy red coat, anticipating the joy of playing in the colorful falling leaves and inhaling the crisp autumn air, but before opening the door, a boy approaches her and says “Your boots are ugly.”  The girl takes a second to think and then replies the boy with a cold “thank you,” she then proceeds to go on with a smile on her face, as if nothing had just happened to her. This girl with the rather unconventional reply was me, and the reason this story is so significant is not necessarily due to what an observer would have witnessed that day, but instead the thinking that led me to do what I did.

In class we have been discussing the analogy of perspectives. A perspective is a way of seeing, also thought of as a ‘point of view’. This mental view or outlook can both enhance and constrain how we view the world in our own eyes. In the field of psychology and sociology there are many ways to perceive our world in which we live. No one perspective alone can define the world. Each perspective has its own distinctive strengths and blind spots. In class we have discussed different theories and analogies to better understand the complexity of perspectives.

Point of view is something that many people argue as relativistic and subjective. To explain; it is the external circumstances and events that give reality shape or form which is dependent upon a single person. How does this relate to seeing? As I have mentioned before in a earlier paper we are all victims of our own biases and filters created through our outside means. As it becomes internalized and reflected back out towards the world which creates the binocular view as we have discussed in class lectures. The real question at this point becomes how these extensions of reality become a collective view-point? As an example at what point do we decide what blue is, what it is associations?

After reading the fourth chapter heading of Consider, the first definition of worldview that came to my mind was “view of the world” just from a literary perspective. The co-authors defined worldview as “a framework a person brings to decision-making” (Weider & Gutierrez, 2011, p.51).

A “worldview” is looked at in many different ways. Logical the way one thinks about life, faith, death, work, values, and morals. As well as “how we see the big picture.” Say for instances you have to make a decision in ones everyday life, and have to deal with actions of the choices one has chose. According to Sire “a worldview is a commitment.” For example your commitment to how one believes. Everyone interprets what they see different and some may have the same views. There are many different aspects of a person that contribute to our personal worldview. For example, our family values, expectations of education,age, race, and gender roles. The main influences on my worldview are family, age, and educational values.

Today’s society consists of many worldviews. Most people tend to pull beliefs from different religions, but often stick to one main worldview. A worldview to me is the gathering of beliefs that shape what we do on a daily basis and forms our overall view on life. When I look at my beliefs critically, I am able to see my worldview and see how it compares to different worldviews, but also how it compares mainly to the Christian Worldview.

Throughout my childhood, I grew up practicing Catholicism. I completed all of my sacraments however, as years passed and I got older, I lost touch with my devotion to the religion. Until February 17th 2017, I had never established such a unique bond with Catholicism. On this day, my younger cousin Elias Rodriguez, was found dead in the LA river. Ever since I was a little girl, I knew that in my future I wanted to become a teacher. I always looked up to my teachers, especially the ones I had in elementary school.
