Line Dancing is fun, sociable and beneficial for the Youth
Line Dancing is an activity that I recommend and encourage the youth to get involved with. Line dancing is a dance done to country music by a line of people (dancers) without partners, following a choreographed pattern of steps.
Line dancing has been around, in one form or another, since before Christ. The type of dancing we do today evolved from the “Contra” dance that is an old style and was very popular from the early 1800’s in the New England States. The style in the 1800’s was that two lines of dancers would form with women on the one side and men on the other. The men from the one side would partner with the women from the side between the two lines and usually do their own routine down the middle and when that pair was done and reached the end of the lines, they would separate and move back into their respective line, then the next pair would do the same and so on. Then in the 1970’s, the style of line dancing we do today was formed.

Three physical benefits of line dancing are that it improves your strength and flexibility which helps to keep your joints and muscles healthy and it also helps you to maintain body weight because of the increased exercise and another is that it is good for your heart because it in an aerobic exercise, more emotional benefits are gaining confidence through achieving the right moves and getting it right, the more you practice it. The better you get at line dancing, the more confidence you will gain and another is that it provides people with the opportunity to express their personalities in a creative way and in a safe environment. Two personality characteristics that suit line dancing are creativity and being out
The quotes “For most people, social dancing begins in pleasure,” and “Of course, people sometimes feel pressure to dance in ways that are otherwise associated with pleasure; social dancing can serve many functions in a society,” from Chapter 4 of Dancing: The Pleasure, Power, and Art of Movement (Jonas 2003), peaked interest in me when thinking of all the various dance forms that we have talked of in class and even those outside of class. One in particular that has interested me the most is swing dance. With family member involvement in the past and having multiple friends take part in the Swing Dance Club here on the Wayne State University Campus for pleasure, enjoyment and social interaction has made me want to go more in depth about it. With the help from academic sources and knowledge from class lectures I will be researching the history of swing dancing, the forms of swing dancing, and what gender roles take place within these movements.
Dance can show us a variation of things whether it is a story plot or retelling history events. Dance becomes an art when done with passion and enthusiasm. The audience can connect and respond with the dancer if done properly. When we use dancing in a story line musical we are attempting to give the audience a deeper understanding. As every story every musical has a “moral to the story” or main idea.
Dance has been around for a long time, it is older than many other popular sports we have. It takes on the physical capacity to be labeled as a sport, and yet in most cases, it is not. It is one of the few activities that is both a sport and an art, but it is given very little respect as a sport. Dance has evolved in a number of ways throughout time, but it has always been through a meaning. Whether that be dancing for love or faith, or dancing for first place.
A 2017 study found that more dancers had positive changes in mood than any other sport. Not unlike a "runner's high," rhythmic movement has been shown to trigger the release of endorphins, which can boost your mood. As much of a mental exercise as a physical one, dancing keeps the mind sharp. In adolescent females, a regular dance class positively impacted their mental health. A study by the American Medical Association found that adolescent girls had more positive thoughts and felt more confidence after dancing. They reported better feelings about their overall health after participating in structured dance classes that focused on enjoying movement rather than perfection and performance
It builds your confidence level. If you're in the back or in the front you are still performing and people watch you dance. At the beginning of the year you might be the shyest girl on the team, but by the end of the year you could be the most courageous girl on the team. It might give you fearlessness to try something new.
Ali explained that dancing has many benefits, such as relieving anxiety, helping with depression and self-esteem building. She also highlighted the interpersonal benefits of dancing, like a sense of community, social support and just having fun. Ali’s laid-back personality reflects the calming nature of dance.
Salsa firstly originated in Eastern Cuba in the early 1900’s, However Cuba was not the only one. Salsa is one of the most vigorous and important musical experience of the 1900’s. They did give origin and history of creation. During World War 2 the music used travelled to New York and various other countries however the term “salsa” was created in New York however they did not create the dance.
In an article by Maria Barrios, she expresses the importance and benefits of dancing. She points out that certain types of dance can be a fun total body workout. I definitely agree because of my personal experience with dancing. After an hour long dance class I feel sweaty and tired then a few minutes later I feel energized like I could do it again. Barrios also points out that dance not only benefits your body but also your mentality.
Dance has been a natural movement form since the beginning of time. The origin of dance is unknown, just as the knowledge of the benefits of dance are unknown to many in our society. Many people do not enjoy dancing and also do not fully understand the positive benefits that come from dancing. Researchers such as Edwards, Duberg, and many more have found countless mental and emotional benefits of dance that originate from movement patterns, brain connections, and even expressions of emotion. Many are aware of the physical benefits of dance, but beyond the physical benefits of dance, there are also emotional and mental benefits that come from dance as well.
The benefits of dancing as a physical exercise are well researched, widely understood, and as a fitness, mobility and weight management tool, it is a multi-million dollar industry. Less studied and acknowledged are the benefits on our mental functioning, self-awareness, psychological well-being, self-confidence, self-expressions, concentration, social skills, etc.
What is dance? Dance is defined as lively movement using one’s body with or without music. Dancing means to feel someone existence to feel vitality, joy, and most importantly to feel alive. Anyone can define dancing as whatever they would like, but how is dance useful to our lives? Whether you are a ballerina from birth or if you are newly introduced to the art of dance, everyone can dance some way, shape, or form. Dance therapy provides psychological and physical benefits. It helps connect body and mind as one giving support to become rooted and balanced. In order to be centered and grounded while moving your body, a dancer must be in tuned with the center of gravity in relation to the earth. Dance therapy is also a great way for people
The man and woman face each other, with the man holding the woman's right hand in his left, and with his right arm around her. The Tango is the third dance to use this hold for couple dancing. The Viennese Waltz is the first dance done in this couple hold. It was very popular in Europe in the 1830's. Couple dancing before the Viennese Waltz was very formal and did not involve a lot of physical contact just mainly holding hands. About 10 years after the Viennese Waltz came the Polka. Also taking Europe by storm, the Polka became the newest craze to use this scandalous new hold. Tango was extremely different from anything that came before it, and was the biggest influence on all couple dancing in the Twentieth Century. The story of
A series of set of movements to music, either alone or with a partner. That is the definition of dancing. Dancing is a way to express one's feeling and to get active.
First, dancing is one of my favorites hobbies. For centuries, dance manuals and other writings have lauded the health benefits of dancing, usually as physical exercise. We've
At first, it is for a fun. Cameron Monaghan said, "I really enjoy dancing. When there's music around, I can't help it; I start dancing, especially when I'm with friends” (Dancing With Friends Quotes). The quotation show a truth because it is simply. When people dance with a friend, people feel more exciting than one person. For instance, many parties have dancing with popular and trendy music because people are enjoyable. Second reason is that if people dance with a friend, they can support each other because when someone has weak point at dance, someone can teach the part. Also, friends give positive effects and make motivation higher. In my case, I often dance with friends at lesson studios. They can dance better than me, so I always think that I want to be the best dancer in the studios because my vision of dancing is worldwide. Consequently, to continue to dance is affected by
