Plagiarism is a one of the most serious concerns in any academic institution. In many institutions, Plagiarism is considered a very serious offense. Plagiarism can be of various forms. For instance, taking credits for others effort, cheating in an assignment that requires individual efforts etc. It can be a very easy matter to explain but also can be very difficult to dodge.
I consider Plagiarism to be very unethical and I think anyone who does plagiarism will most likely fail in his career at any given point. Plagiarism is a type of cheating used in all types of mediums and copying of ideas and using as their own There are different types of plagiarism and all are serious violations of academic honesty. These are some types of plagiarism such as Direct plagiarism, self-plagiarism, mosaic plagiarism and accidental plagiarism. these types of plagiarism are mostly found in today’s educational system. Students must learn to always avoid any type of plagiarism either its intentional or unintentional.

Even though students have written it in their own words, their writing needs citations and references because the source's information is not from their own ideas. They need sufficient paraphrasing by their own words with citations and references to avoid plagiarism (as cited in Nall & Gherwash Aug 12, 2013). George Brown and Centennial College each have academic honesty policy. While both school policies have a similar definition of plagiarism, they have a few differences in terms of the clarity and specify penalties.

Plagiarism is when you take any form of writing and make it your own without giving proper credit to the owner. You can also be plagiarizing if you use some of your old work without the teacher knowing you did so. In universities across America about ¾ of people are involved in some kind of academic dishonesty (Heckler, Rice, and Bryan 229). Many students have different reasons as to why they had to cheat on an assignment and they range from not having enough time, not getting the sufficient information from the teacher or for the assignment, and sometimes some students also say that the teacher almost gives them no choice (Puka). Plagiarism is not a crime, but it is a moral offence. Plagiarism is the act of copying someone else’s original idea and passing it as one’s own work. While each university has different policy and regulations against plagiarism some examples of it are: Direct copying from original sources, copying material and making slight changes to it and paraphrasing. Plagiarism in essay writing is cheating, and students who use someone else’s intellectual property without permission, or having someone else do their essay work are breaking the educational institution regulations. These practices of cheating create lack of creativity, inability to gain new knowledge and disrespect towards the professor and the original author.
Plagiarism is using someone else’s work, words, production, researches and ideas without the approval or the acknowledgment of the writer or producer, and claiming the credit for himself. Many reasons and factors are attributed for the use of plagiarism and could be cultural, historical, linguistic, environmental and educational background. Plagiarism is a form of an academic dishonesty, academic misconduct, and a digital cheating. It is declared to be an unacceptable legal act and institutional regulations. And universities, schools, and instructors do not only need to decrease plagiarism, but they must also affect positively on students writings, increase the understanding of how to use digital technology to facilitate their academic writing.

Plagiarism is a form of unacceptable academic practice
In the discussion over plagiarism factors responsible for it , methods to avoid plagiarism and proper difference between a material which is plagiarized and one which is mistaken to be plagiarized is understood. As often there is a confusion over this. Plagiarism is a important concept to know and the ways to avoid them must also be learned. It is very important to give proper credit to the contributions of other people. It shows that there is due regard and recognition to their hard work. Plagiarism is more common in academic world. There is a increasing lure among the students and professors job complicates. Learning a concept and the ability to portray what was learned earns due respect . Plagiarism is common in schools, working places, and anywhere in general. Since it is such a common thing, people do it without even blinking an eye. Though you may think it will benefit you, plagiarism is something that shouldn’t be taken lightly. It can effect the person you are stealing from, their grades, work, or possibly get them fired. It is also considered stealing, and cheating. This would be breaking the Ten Commandments, as a Christian, and would be seen as a sin. In the end, plagiarism prevents you from learning and growing as a person and you will not benefit from it in a positively.
In colloquial language plagiarism is the concept of stealing someone’s piece of work or someone’s idea. It is clear that plagiarising is unjust and immoral, however now a days it is becoming more difficult to come up with original ideas as the media allows students to have open access to all information and the producer or author must be very careful to not use somebody else’s work unintentionally and claim it as theirs. It is important to educate students about plagiarism as it can carry major consequences. The concept of plagiarism with reference to policy will be outlined and also the steps helping students and authors to avoid plagiarism in this assignment.
