President Trumps Wall During his campaign, one of Donald Trump’s biggest campaign promises was to build a wall. Did you know that President Trump’s wall will make a lot of changes negatively in the ways of economical, societal, and environmental ways? No? Well, that will happen, and the wall shouldn’t be built because of those three reasons. One reason why the wall shouldn’t be built is because it will affect the societies of both places. For example, from this site (oregonlive), it says that the wall will cut off the communities from both sides of the countries that connect the two countries together when the wall is built (if it will be built). Also, it says that a few people from PSU went down to the communities that connect the U.S and Mexico were told that the wall will break the bonds of the communities and cities from the U.S. and Mexico. …show more content…
For example, this link (youtube), explains how The Wall will affect of the environment like migration paths. The animals that pass through the U.S and Mexico will have to find different migration paths, only because they can’t go through the two countries if the wall is built. In addition, this link (scientificamerican), says that the river that runs through the U.S and Mexico will be cut off from some animals since it flows through the two countries. Since it flows from one side, it wouldn’t go through the other side of the river. Plus, if the river is blocked, some of the land will subdue and the water level will rise. And we will turn to our economical reasons why the wall should not be
There are many pros and cons to the wall on the border of the U.S. and Mexico. The main reason why Trump was doing this was to stop illegal drugs from crossing the border into America. He is hoping that it will stop and America would be great again because we won thave that many illegal drugs and that there wouldn´t be that many terrorist attacks going on like the boston marathon or anything worse than that.
All through America's history it always had a presidential election every four years, and last years presidential election campaign there were two leading candidates, so to ensure their victory, they both made promises significant changes, creation. All through last year's campaign, a candidate named Donald J. Trump made several promises, and one of his promises could change the way of life in American. Mr.Trump won last years presidential election, and all eyes were on him to the promise vowed to do if and when he is president. That one promise which is opposed by six in ten Americans is that President Trump promised a 'big, beautiful wall' that would be placed on the Mexican and American border. President Trump Proposed that he could construct the wall for 8 billion, but now it is known that wall will cost about $21.6 billion for the wall and that the $21.6 plan doesn't include the $150 million a year to maintain. America shouldn’t Build a Wall along the US/Mexico Border because of the high cost and how it will affect America's economy, also thought the wall would keep out undocumented immigrant from crossing the US border but it is shown that undocumented immigrants contribute over $11 billion to the US economy each year, and lastly the environment that is near the border, and how it will be affected and disturbed due to the construction the border wall.
But, how? The wall is just blocking on part or our country and that country being blocked could come up with other methods to act and find way to bypass the wall. Trump is a person who has many goals, but doesn't think through them He doesn't see the full effect of his ideas and how others would be effected. The wall would be useless and just cause more and more chaos. According to David Martin, a professor at Grinnell College, he wrote a article and said “This strategy is politically appealing for its simplicity, but it misunderstands the problems of globalization and migration it aims to address. Building walls has rarely has achieved its intended effect, and may result in wasted resources and lost opportunities for the United States.” Many walls have Ben built throughout the world and many of the walls seem useless. The wall that would be built by trump is t necessary, it's just a waste of resources. He also wrote “In U.S. history, building paper and concrete walls resulted in episodes that today are widely viewed by historians as inconsistent with our better democratic angels.” The U.S. building a wall won't help our economy won't help our country. In our past, the U.S. and other nations have tries this and they failed, so I can we say we will succeed. Donald Trump doesn't think thoroughly he plans and only acts on based upon what he sees, which will eventually lead to a decrease in our U.S.
The wall that Bowden discusses is the barrier between the United States and the country of Mexico to the south. He uses the terms fences, borders, and barricades. Part of the wall is constructed of metal. Other portions are concrete. Each of the materials that are used is hard and designed to be uncomfortable and discouraging to those who see it, effectively creating both a physical and psychological barrier between acceptable and unacceptable populations. The purpose of the wall, according to Bowden, is to keep a certain population out of the United States. Mexican illegal immigrants are crossing the border into the United States in large numbers. For the American government, illegal immigration is an unacceptable set of circumstances and the purpose of erecting a wall was to keep those people from crossing the border into the United States. Bowden explains that the wall is effective only until the point when inclination and desire of the excluded population overcomes the existence of the wall. People will then cross over it or crash through it. If their will is strong enough, then the people will be able to overcome the wall, making its presence outdated and ineffectual. Since people overcome the wall, there is no need to keep the wall or to provide moneys to either enlarge it or for the upkeep of the wall. Each
Jeff Corwin stated that “If this border wall actually happens, it will be an environmental catastrophe. Essentially, what it’s doing is cutting through nature’s bridge, which connects Central America to North America and South America.” Which in many cases this can be supported but then again many people work very hard to become a citizen in the United States for many to come across the border to get here illegally and to most this is unfair. To make another main statement given the rising global instability in North Korea and the Middle East with a strong and supportive border it would be harder for terrorist to get their hands on biological, chemical or radiological weapons. With an insecure border it makes it easier for them to bring them into the United States and launch a devastating attack on the United States.
The author also uses firsthand stories from people to show the ineffectiveness of the wall. One specific story the author mentions is of a man on the Mexican side who lives close to the wall and jumps it regularly just to go to a bar and then comes back the same night. I think this story is already proving that the wall is ineffective and with time it will become more ineffective. With the ineffectiveness increasing so is the support. One man interviewed said “When they first built it, it was not a bad idea—cars were crossing illegally from Mexico and the Border Patrol would chase them. But it’s so ugly.”
The wall will help control the number of illegal immigrants coming into the country and ensure they go through the correct legal processes while also ensuring the safety of both American and Mexican citizens. Paul Sperry, a writer for the New York Post, explains, "Before 2010, federal data show the border city was mired in violent crime and drug smuggling, thanks in large part to illicit activities spilling over from the Mexican side. Once the fence went up, however, things changed almost overnight. El Paso since then has consistently topped rankings for cities of 500,000 residents or more with low crime rates, based on FBI-collected statistics" (2). Due to a fence going up on the US-Mexico border, El Paso is looked at as a model town and a prime example of what many of the border towns could turn into with the construction of the wall. However, the border wall is conclusively against Mexicans and based on racist mindsets. Frank Daniel, a writer for Reuters.com, writes, "Shortly after the wall was built, Juarez was plunged into a hellish war between cartels that made it the murder capital of the world, while El Paso remained the safest U.S. city of its size" (2). Though the wall may help one side of the border the other side could, in the end, face unfortunate
Mexican citizens won't be able to cross the border with the wall up, right? Sure, it is true that people won't be able to run across the border, but not even half of the illegal immigrants in the US get in that way. Most illegal Mexican immigrants get into the US legally, and overstay their VISAs. Not only will the wall fail to keep illegal immigrants out, it will only make the situation worse. Building the wall will monopolize border crossing for the cartel. Any good businessman knows that as soon as something is illegal or prohibited, the price goes up for underground businesses. The Mexican Cartel will be able to make more profit and therefore grow if we build this
The treaties between the United States and Mexico that prohibit the blockage of rivers across the border would be roadblocks in President’s Trump’s plan (Aguilera). Another one would be the Native American reservations along the borders. It would be a waste of time for the government to have the wall built only to have gaps within the wall due to restrictions. Trump would be able to get around these restrictions by convincing Congress to pass a bill that would take the land away from the Native Americans, but that would only start chaos. Most of the land currently without a border fence cannot withstand the construction of a wall because of the geography by which it is surrounded. Due to this, there will be gaps within the wall through which immigrants would be able to enter.
One important reason that a border wall between the U.S and Mexico can’t protect American jobs and reduce crime is that the border wall is too expensive and impractical because according to UpFront Magazine, Patricia Smith, 4-3-17. “Congress will fund the project, which will cost more than 21 billion of dollars and it will take until the end of 2020 to complete.” It will take 4 years for the wall to be complete and by the end of 2020 President Trump may not be the president of
In previous years, many countries and territories around the world have attempted to build walls, and many have had very much success. For example, Most of the walls built after World War 2 and the Cold War still exist today. There were a total of 110 walls built between that time period. Professor Nazli Avdan led a study that had a goal of identifying if a border wall reduced or increased the risk of a transnational terrorist attack. This study found that since the year 1900, transnational terrorist attacks have seen a thirteen percent annual decrease in countries with border walls (Border fences reduce...attacks). This has been a real focal point that President Donald Trump has used to get people to agree with him. Another reason of his includes the disrupting of the funneling of illicit money and drugs into the United States of America (Border fences reduce...attacks). The bonus of the building of the wall is that it will be a visible sign of the government taking action.
Members of the Tohono O’odham in Arizona believe the wall would impede the traditional ease which members of the tribe have moved across the borders for cultural, social, and spiritual change. The Environmental group, Sierra Club, US Fish and the Wildlife Service believe the wall will destroy protected wildlife refuges, also believe the future endanger threatened species. The Mexican government voiced its opposition concerning the wall, leaving Americans concerned about future political divisiveness between the countries” Driscoll Sally & Bourassa, Cheryl.
It would just create more raucous. A few reasons why the border wall should not be built is because it would affect the wildlife surrounding it, because it cost a lot of money, and because immigrants are not actually taking jobs away from Americans. To start off, many people do not think that any animals are being affected by this idea to build the border wall, but it is leaving all surrounding wildlife into great danger. First and foremost, the border wall affects all the habitats for the current animals
Will Trump’s wall help the Economy any better? It won’t, and there is a lot of evidence to support my claim. The wall shall not be built because it will negatively impact the United States since immigrants play a big role in the U.S economy. The wall shall not be built because it will cause a lot of controversy, which can produce more crime and hate toward Trump and the wall. The wall should not be built because we get most of our produce from Mexico and other resources, which will negatively impact NAFTA and our economy.
In the past few years, there has been a recent push for a border wall to protect the United States from the increase in immigration and drug trafficking. Although the border wall aids in reducing problems in our country, it is affecting the economy of the country and the health of our environment, therefore the border wall is not the best solution.
