Sports movies are knows as blockbuster movies. Sports movies are know for there monologues. A monologue is a long speech by one actor in a play or movie, or as part of a theatrical or broadcast program. Coach Gary Gaines, in the movie “Friday Night Lights” has a speech called “Being Perfect”. “Being Perfect” is a very powerful, emotional, and motivating speech. This speech is not your normal locker room speech. “Being Perfect’s” purpose is to inform the players and others that it doesn't take much just to feel good about yourself.
As a diverse student, in a very low income community I have always been known to standing up for others, as well as for myself. Having this natural drive i found myself taking a huge role in our high school Beta Club. As a natural leader, I was challenged with the opportunity to represent our high school’s Beta Club Chapter while running for North Carolina Beta Secretary. Although I felt experienced as a leader, I was really nervous to get up in front of all of North Carolina and give a speech at the Beta Club convention. Although I was nervous, I opened my mouth, and the words just began to come out. My fears went away, and I addressed everyone on topics of educational improvements and opportunities for all students to succeed. I used this
“The Atlanta Exposition Speech” by Booker T. Washington, “The Talented Tenth” but W.E.B. DuBois, and “The Negro’s Place in American Life at the Present Day” by T. Thomas Fortune were written during the end of the nineteenth century when African Americans were faced with great challenges on a range of different levels. These documents are very like one another considering they are all addressing the same issues, but I also feel like each of them are unique from one another because of the person who wrote them. Washington focuses more on an industrial education so the blacks can go to school. He has the whites to believe that it will also affect them and make things better for them at the time and that they will
VI. When I was born he taught me to be the strongest person I could be and to do my absolute best at everything I try.
In class we were shown a recording of the speech, “A call to men”. The first thing I noticed was the title, which made me immediately assume it was going to be a female speaker that was going to speak about feminism; or something along those lines. To see a man giving the speech grabbed my attention instantly. The man giving the speech was Tony Porter, and his audience was mostly women, who made me think, “Is this guy going to be giving a speech about feminism?” While listening to his speech I felt guilty for being quick to judge, because his speech was actually about growing up as a male, and being masculine is today’s society. While Tony Porter was giving his speech, he brought up stories that without a doubt every guy in our class could relate to that left many of us saying, “Wow”.
Reflecting on the past nineteen years I have been privileged to work with outstanding students, faculty and colleagues at the University of Wisconsin River Falls. I am humbled and honored being nominated for the University of Wisconsin System, Board of Regents Academic Staff Excellence Award. I have been asked to highlight my professional contributions and service to UW – River Falls, which I feel begins with my own philosophy regarding the work we all do for the students who live, work, grow, and thrive in our community of learners.
The start of my quest to come to be involved with my university began with freshman orientation on the seventeenth of August. This was the first instance I had ever stepped foot on the campus, and I was so nervous that I could hardly bring myself to step out of my mother’s vehicle. With a few words of encouragement, I finally entered the building where the event was taking place – the Fine Arts Building auditorium. The building was actually recognizable since I had been there several times during high school for choir trips. Once inside, each of the hundreds of freshmen were handed a bag containing pamphlets and informational documents before being told to sit in any seat they

Thank you for joining us today as the City of Mobile participates in the Race for the Cure Walk in celebration of October Cancer Awareness Month. This is a special occasion for many reasons but the most significant is that we have chosen as a community to make a difference and to show our own ability to be heroes. People define heroism in so many individualized ways and the world is full of heroes that make a significant impact and have admirable traits of all kinds. Our own designated heroes affect our mindset and influence our thoughts and our actions. It is powerful and influential. To me, a true hero changes the world and provides hope and peace in the most difficult situations.
When I was a kid, my super hero was Superman, I kind of admired him because I thought it would be cool to be able to fly and to have super-human strength, but the main reason why I liked Superman is because he helped people, no matter what.

So, I would like to wish good luck for your resolutions to be achieved.
