After reading Pride and Prejudice and watching the 2005 movie version, I noticed that the plot of the two stories differed. In the novel, the main character is Elizabeth Bennett and the story follows her and her family as they deal with issues such as marriage, social class, and disputes.The novel also consists of a love story between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy, although they initially dislike each other when they meet. The plot also includes Mr. Bingley wanting to marry Jane but finds it difficult because of differences in social class. The book has many themes involving family, friendship, and love.
The movie was filmed and took place in modern England while the book took place in the 1800s when the novel was published. The dialogue in the movie had scenes that were exactly the same as those in the book, but most …show more content…

In the movie, Elizabeth is seen as rude and ill-tempered, in contrast to Elizabeth in the book who is seen as having a good sense of humor and being an intelligent woman. Because Elizabeth's characteristic are different between the movie and the novel, the family relations are very different in the movie. For example, in the novel, Jane and Elizabeth have very few secrets between them, if any at all. They share all the details of their lives, everything they have going through their minds, they share their hopes and dream and plan their futures together. However, in the movie they keep a lot of secrets from one another and rarely share anything of the sorts. The movie also portrays Mr. Bennett as a warmer, more sympathetic father than he seems to be in the novel. In the novel, Mr. Bennett spends his money on the wrong things causing his family's misfortunes, which is very downplayed in the movie. The relationship between he and his wife is much more loving in the movie. However, the movie portrays the Bennetts to look poorer than they seemed throughout the
