SUMMARY-The following document provides a Project Charter for Reconstruction and widening of Tristram Ave which is scheduled to be reconstructed from 15 MAY 2015 to 16 JULY 2015.This project is funded by NZTA and Local Authorities. This is a well-planned program of maintenance and reconstruction of the road to deal with future traffic and flood water increases.
VISION- Roads, and means of transport, make a crucial contribution to economic development and growth and bring important social benefits. Roads are among the most important public assets in many countries. Road improvements bring immediate and sometimes dramatic benefits to road users through improved access to hospitals, schools, and markets; improved comfort, speed, and safety; and lower vehicle operating costs. For these benefits to be sustained road improvements must be followed by a well-planned program of maintenance, therefore it is a paramount to maintain and reconstruct roads to ensure wellbeing and to increase development of the country.

In 2009, transport for Scotland submitted the ‘Forth crossing bill’, the scheme is being taken forward in accordance with a policy memorandum. The queens ferry crossing will be built instead of repairing the current forth road bridge. Repairing the current bridge will take between 7 and 9 years, without an alternative crossing, sustained disruption of traffic will have a significant effect. The queens ferry crossing will provide two lanes in each direction, replacing road provisions for general traffic, increased travel growth will need to be satisfied by public transport.
There has always been a demand for roads in the United States as roads are essential in the development of a nation. The national interstate highway system was America’s solution for the need of a road system that would stretch from coast to coast. The United States Interstate Highway System is a landmark project and often considered one of the greatest public works projects in American history by making travel by automobile faster, cheaper, safer and more convenient. New roads have been a necessity on our country ever since Henry Ford began to produce the automobile back in in 1903.
II. CAUSES: As a functioning asset to people, our roadways must be monitored, maintained and most importantly funded to keep the structures serving their intended uses safely. Also, we all know the adage, nothing lasts forever, and this is true with our roadways, but our society’s pollution accelerates the decay. And these are two main causes where we, as a nation have fallen short.
Description: The cities of Santa Ana and Irvine, in corporation with California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), propose to build an overcrossing structure over SR‐55, the Costa Mesa Freeway, between the western terminus of Alton Avenue in the City of Santa Ana and the eastern terminus of Alton Parkway in the City of Irvine, Orange County. The proposed project will include the construction of an overcrossing on Alton Avenue/Parkway over SR‐55, the widening Alton Avenue between Main Street to Standard Avenue in the City of Santa Ana, the addition of bike lanes, and the relocation of an existing drainage channel.
With the constrained scenario, traffic flow has improved, commute time has decreased, workers are getting to their places of business faster, and the businesses themselves are finding that they can transport their goods in a more timely fashion. The measures that were employed consist of adding directional bike lanes to the bridge, restriping the bridge combined with timed directional transition of the middle 5th lane, additional bus routes, and converting old buildings into domiciles. The North Connex Project is a nine kilometre underground motorway, beneath Pennant Hills Road, which links the M2 to the M1. This development has been approved for construction due to the issue of traffic congestion for motorists travelling between Sydney and the north coast. The Hills M2 is the motorway connecting Sydney’s north shore and north western regions. Furthermore, the M1 Pacific Motorway links Sydney to the Central Coast, Newcastle and Hunter regions. The issue of traffic congestion is located in the West Pennant Hills area, where the M2 is, and it extends further up north to the Wahroonga area, to the M1. The development will also affect the suburbs and areas in between and surrounding West Pennant
It is important to modify and preserve the transportation system because the number of people using transportation routes is constantly increasing. This means the government must rebuild or replace bridges, pave roads and offer safer more reliable transportation routes that have less traffic and congestion.
Pennant Hills Road was identified by the NRMA (National Roads and Motorists' Association) as the 3rd worst road in New South Wales and in the Australian Capital Territory, and it is the 2nd worst road in Sydney’s road network. Our transportation system, quite arguably, may embody our most vital system, as Infrastructure and Democracy clarifies, “access is the hallmark of a great infrastructure” (Jones, Reinecke). By great contrast, our roads remain a current issue. 42 percent of America’s urban highways remain congested, costing the United States 101 billion dollars in wasted time and fuel each year. Also, the32 percent of roads, in poor or mediocre condition, cost the average traveler $324 per year (American Infrastructure Report Card). Unfortunately, updating the highway systems seems longer than it may seem, as the Government Accountability Office (GAO) estimates that from proposal to completion most highways will need nine to nineteen years to fix (Leduc, Wilson 129). In addition to the roads, our bridges are failing just as much. One of every nine bridges within the United States is categorized as structurally deficient. The average bridge 42 years old, and in order to eliminate the bridge renovation backlog, our country would need to invest twenty and a half billion dollars until 2028 (American Infrastructure Report Card). The development of every nation hinges on the effectiveness of their transportation systems. Movement of goods, services and people to and from work is made possible by transportation systems. The importance of effective transportation systems cannot be over-emphasized. A lot of countries are facing Transportation problems and my country Ghana is no exception. A trip of about 30 minutes can take about an hour or more due to traffic jams. This is seriously impacting productivity and has been a topical issue in the country. The situation is the same in Uganda where I currently work.
