Throughout life there are many instances in which an individual has to work in a group to complete a task/project. The importance of group work is to have teamwork with each member of the group. Humans are driven to connect with each other and by working as a group ideas become much more enriched and the ideas or thoughts that each person ‘brings to the table’ each individual is able to add onto that idea or it can trigger one to think of something completely different.
Role-playing, simulations and program activities allow the group leader/ staff the opportunity to provide the group members with situations that require them to engage in a process where the leader/ staff can make observations and assess the member’s behaviors. For example, role-playing allows the group leaders and other members the opportunity to watch the group members work through various scenarios, taking note of the ways they respond to the given scenario as well as the ways in which they interact with the other members. This also allows the staff/ leader and providing them with feedback and the opportunity to process with the group. Simulations and program activities also allow all members to participate in the given activity as well as the chance to work through the simulation. In doing so, the members are given an opportunity to explore the new skills, which in turn provides the group leader the opportunity to assess nonverbal behavior as well as their interactions with others and their
A major concept that we have learned about in our nursing 182 class is Teamwork. In this concept analysis we will see the conceptualization of teamwork, and critical attributes, related concepts and various cases, and illegitimate uses of team work. Teamwork is essential in the nursing field and this analysis will show just how important it is.
When I first find out that there’s a group project, I wanted to work with people that I know are responsible, capable of doing the assignments, respectful, and don’t procrastinate. I did not want to work with negative people at all I’ve learned from past group presentation experience, so I quickly ask Carolyn, Britney and Adina if they want to work together, they agreed and that’s how we formed our group but, we still needed to add one additional person for our group. The second time we meet up in class the other group members had already ask two of our classmates to join our group so Alexia and Wendy came along. I was excited about everyone that’s in our group because, I know that they’re all are capable of getting the assignments and project done on time and they are very respectful. We were assigned by the professor to come up with a group contract, I have never done any group contract before so I was happy with the assignment. We all decide that in order for us to have a positive group experience we would have to follow the contract we’ll of course follow the contract and we came up with things that we all agreed on. We add on the contract that “everyone will keep their feelings in check and keep group members informed of how things are going. No one is expected to give full disclosure of their situation but a general advising that something is going on is expected. Respect each other and don 't be afraid to ask for help. On the second meeting we also came up with a
In this age, for the vast majority of us, collaboration is a piece of our regular daily existence. Regardless of whether it is at home, in the group, or at work, we are frequently anticipated that would be a useful piece of a performing group. Having a solid group benefits any association and prompts a larger number of victories than disappointment. Each group experiences the five phases of group improvement. Initially, some foundation on group improvement.
The model of a group communication that attains its objective with easy and success requires a delicate process. An ideal group communication ranges from three to few members gathered and discussing strategies to accomplish a specific goal. Groups’ formations are the result of an old truism that more brains are better than one. Consequently, groups continue to define people’s daily collective efforts to solve problems an immense way. “When groups work effectively, members find the experience motivating and rewarding. Group members also learn a
When someone says group project one can see who likes them and who does not. There are people who like group project and there are people who hate them. Some people like to work together and all share responsibilities but there are the people who have had bad experiences with group projects. It is interesting to see how people act in a group setting. Some people sit back and let others do their work and some work hard and try to get everyone involved. The roles of group members can be categorized and analyzed.
Also, I propose that instead of having things posted by 5:00 PM, we should have until 10:00PM. Having something due at 5PM is basically saying to have something due the day before. Some people have to work and don't even get off until 6:00PM, making it fairly difficult to turn in anything of merit
In this forum, will be addressing the important concepts learned about groups. Will be describing my personal experience working with my assigned group for this course. Furthermore, will be addressing the main three concepts learned through the duration of this course. Those concepts are tribulation, integrity, and team.
The human brain is constantly looking for negativity. For example, after we clean the floor, I try looking for spots that I did clean that look dirtier than the rest, or when I buy a cup of lemonade from Chick-fil-A and there's pulp in it. All I can taste after that is the pulp. However, some people condition their minds to only see the positives. In high school, I had this friend named Beth Johnson. Beth is around 5 feet tall, loves giraffes, and has never said a negative word about someone or situation. Beth and I had this group project with three other people who are athletes and, since they were athletes, they believed they could tell excuses for not doing their part. At the end of the project, Beth and I both put over $300 into our project
There are different sessions that one can attend to acquire knowledge. A workshop is unique because it is a brief educational experience designed for a specific group. A discussion encourages social interaction and open conversation. A discussion is less informal and is more interactive than a lecture or workshop. A group activity is used to encourage and promote cooperative elements when trying to reach a goal. It is most appropriate when trying to promote cooperation and support among persons. Social interaction in groups is relevant to the progression of the project or goal. Group activity involves “struggling to understand one another, especially in the face of pressures and contradictions that typically drive groups members to shut down” (Kaner, Lind, and Toldi, 2007). Group activity can remain motivated by having individual and group responsibilities. The four approaches to a presentation are all very distinctive but with the successful execution of the Rhetorical Triangle each can be presented effectively.
I have been in many group project where the group decides based on the ideas that not always the best because not everyone says their idea. When I am in a group project I try to ask everyone’s opinion because someone could have a brilliant idea or talent to make the project awesome. I see where going though and yeah group projects is also the main area I have seen groupthink happen.
In this course I learned some of the nuances to managing groups and individuals in an organizational structure. In my current and previous jobs this has been a part of my duties, however, there were additional aspects of organizational behavior that I had not considered. Group dynamics was one of the subjects in organizational behavior that I had never reflected on, considering my background in psychology,
This chapter reviewed many different aspects of group work such as different processes and skills required to run several different groups. The groups discussed were open-ended group, groups hosted in residential settings, single-session groups, and large activity groups.
