Group Communication Video Cases Paper The model of a group communication that attains its objective with easy and success requires a delicate process. An ideal group communication ranges from three to few members gathered and discussing strategies to accomplish a specific goal. Groups’ formations are the result of an old truism that more brains are better than one. This aspect of fostering implicit norms, the group composition, member acquaintance, and an in-depth knowledge of the topic helped this group communication. Moreover, the presence of men and women brings diversified views on the table and creates no hindrance to the group communication. “An effective group has both a clear understanding of its goal and a belief that its goal is meaningful and worthwhile” Engleberg & Wynn, 2010, p34. In this case, the hindrance to progress comes as the debate on enrollment and course relevancy reaches a stalemate. Besides, the expression that says,” Students will vote with their feet,” reveals that the suggested offering is not in the best interest of all stakeholders placing the goal attainment in doubt. According to Tuckman and Jensen, “There are five discrete stages in the life cycle of groups—forming, storming, norming, performing, and adjourning” Engleberg & Wynn, 2010, p46. This group communication fell short of the necessary performance that helps to reach a decisive goal and provide a necessary adjournment to the discussion. The group communication methods should satisfy all discrete stages in the life cycle of groups particularly performing and adjournment as observed earlier.
