We as Americans live in the land of the free and the home of the brave many governments are a lot different than ours and main reason why that is, is because many governments are ether communist or don’t have near as many rights and privileges as us. We have the Bill Of Rights which gives us rights and a voice for our country many countries do not give their citizens a voice and many do not give their citizens a choice about what they can and can not do. We have freedom of speech which is where we can say whatever we may please as long as it is not fighting words or taking arms against the government. We also have freedom of religion and that gives the opportunity to be whatever religion we may please and we can even make up our own religions
Freedom of religion and freedom of Speech were some of the major values that drove the pilgrims to start their own community in America. We started in thirteen colonies which have evolved into the fifty states that are our country today. Our newly established democracy offered rights that our old society didn?t bring to the table. Currently, the United States is the most or one of the most privileged nations and is very pleasant to live in compared to some foreign nations that may come to mind. However, we, as citizens, have come to abuse our rights and privileges given to us.
also gives us the freedom that we deserve. These rights may affect many things such as the rights to live and
Also, in many other countries, the freedom of speech is illegal, in China you would be arrested for speaking your mind, but here we are safe. We can also pick our religion to practice without hiding in the dark because we do not want anyone to find out about it. The first amendment also grants the people of America the right to gather and peacefully protest if we do not like something that the government leaders have chosen to do. Moreover, the first amendment guarantees us that I have the right to freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and freedom to protest. The next amendment that locks freedom in for the American people is the fourth amendment. The fourth amendment from the bill of rights states that “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon
As an American we have many rights that people living in other countries do not and some they cannot even dream of having. In the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson talks about inalienable rights and lists life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The three rights that he listed were broad and most other rights fall underneath them. Before he lists these three rights he says “among these” which suggests that there are more. Just thinking about this a few thoughts of some inalienable rights will pop up. There is a good chance that the right to vote, reproduce, and the right to clean air might be some that pop in your head.
The united states has shown us over the years that our country is an exact example of an imperialist country. For one, we have multiple advantages over other countries, that they cringe at the thought of like, nuclear weapons, military bases, CIA, air power, and drones. Our nuclear weapons are so stocked up that we hold a big advantage over any country that would like to challenge us. The amount of bases the united states has, is probably unimaginable. what we know of now is that there are more than 702 over seas bases in about 130 countries, pretty intimidating if you ask me. Now as for the CIA, they do not mess around and keep everything pretty silent. Everything they do is top secret, and gets the dirty jobs done for the united states. The
for sure; it is definitely making the idea of democracy, an obscure, abstract version of itself. A Democratic government provides every citizen of legal age with the free and equal right to play a role in a system that elects representatives of the population. It is done so by the majority of people’s votes, which promise to meet their will. America gives the impression to be headed in the orientation of Plutocracy. This special form of government believes that a society should be somewhat governed by its wealthiest members. Over the past decades, the Supreme Court has allowed those who provide ridiculous sums of money to “buy” the elections, rather than the will of the population. Income inequality is still increasing, the middle class is vanishing, and the crazy Republican Party continue to do everything in their power to block raising the minimum wage for what makes the majority of the United States; the hard working Americans. So far, women still don 't make equal pay for equal work, and CEOs make absurd remuneration, while workers are sadly forced for greater productivity and for far less money. Rich people are getting richer, while the poor (or working-class) are barely living from paycheck to paycheck. So, does this form of government respond to our interests? It would be hard to believe so.
There are several different types of governments according to each Country in the world and how the people are able to express themselves living inside this government. There are diverse values and ethical stances that are formed within the government and the society that people live in. According to Saylor, there are several types of democracy. The United States is a Representative Democracy. “Direct democracy places all power in the hands of the individual.” (Saylor,2012) The constitution was drafted in 1787 and the legal system is based on common laws at the federal level. There are 3 Branches of our US Government: Judicial, Legislative, and executive. With this type of government, the American has more freedom over speech and desire to
Freedom of speech. Thou is able to communicate and speak without censorship and without fear of government retaliation. Freedom of religion. Thou is able to practice. manifest, teach, or worship any religion. Freedom of expression. Thou shall be able to express themselves politically, artistically, and commercially. Freedom of assembly. Thou is able to unite in any form of club, group, or community to share ideas, interests, or common beliefs.
In America we have a number of freedoms, that many countries don't have. Four instance: the right to vote, right to protest, freedom of the press, right to bear arms, all of which our soldiers are willing to lay down their lives for. In fact, in many parts of the world these types of freedoms could be punishable by death or in prison. We are truly blessed!
Even though we live in a democratic society, we tend to give the government too much power. In the sovereign country that we live in we see selfishness, and discrimination through our government yet, we give them the authority to control us. People give power out of fear and the best believe the government knows that. The government uses propaganda and patriotism to support war effort and big business to make money. Throughout our history there has been deliberately massacre called “Terrorist Attacks” to scare our nation and to gain more money and power. For example, both the 9/11 attack and war are being manipulated by the politicians.
The pros of having the establishment of a strong military controlled government are that you have a much less likely chance of being attacked on home territory. Also I feel as if there would be a much more strict form on how things go. So things wouldn’t be as lenient and thing would be easier to follow. The cons are that the country would most likely constantly be in a war somewhere in the world. Another con is that the people wouldn’t have much control if any at all on what the government does with their money and laws.
In addition of that part, I am going to talk about how we have our own beliefs and rights to say what we want to say. Like if a person doesn’t, like what’s happening they are able to protest to show America what they or we believe in. And people in America can’t tell what is wrong from right and what you are saying or believe in. In some countries they are not even allowed to pick their own job. In America you get to pick anything you want to be.
Have you ever thought of how many freedoms we have as US citizens? If you haven’t we have many, much more than other countries in the world. For example, women have a massive about of things we can. We also have the right to practice our own religion, freedom of speech, right to gather, petition, and to vote. We also have a great system of people who do work to protect us like the firemen and women and the police.
America is synonymous with the word freedom, even being dubbed “the land of the free” by its own national anthem. But, what makes America so much more “free” than other countries? Some would argue that it’s America’s system of democracy, despite the fact that democratic governments are now the most common form of rule found in countries around the world. American democracy, although effective, is not the best democracy style for all nations; because, like many other countries, its government contains many flaws, including: its low voter turnout, two-party political parties creating division and deadlock in congress, and government positions of power being bankrolled and controlled by the rich.
The United States of America was built on the ideals set forth by our founding fathers in the Constitution of the United States of America. Such ideals are held to the highest standards in our community to this day; like our right to the freedom of speech, our right to bear arms, and the right to own property. Each of these rights are firmly stated in the Constitution, along with many other rights that citizens of the Untied States have. The ideals of our founding fathers were so profound that many other nations modeled their democracy after the Constitution put forth by the Americans. It is basic human rights that people should have the freedom of speech, religion, and press and the right to own property. And we
