Our education system should be teaching kids how to live in the real world. Standardized test don’t. Kids should be able to gain knowledge, solve problems, be more creative, and enhance their thinking schools. Standardized tests don’t help with that. These test, such as the ACT and the SAT, are used to show how students perform against other students who take the same test. They are also used to help teachers decide what to teach in their classrooms. Kids are expected to gain knowledge from these test, but no real progress has been shown. In Texas, there was a mishap where over 14000 exams were erased and the state education chief called the experience “simply unacceptable. “ There is so much wasted time trying to take these test, that could be spent actually learning something in class. We also do far too many of this test a year. We take, or at least try to take multiple practice test to “prepare” us for the actual tests. If we are going to take standardized tests, we should make it a lot easier and stick with paper tests. The tests are still useless no matter what. Students gain nothing from standardized tests. They are ineffective in many ways. One reason is the grading. These tests are graded by machines and computers which don’t really give us creative and effective results and feedback.they also come with many errors with the scoring. For example, computer errors are made and score conversion tables are misread when a test is scored incorrectly. They also take forever to be graded and; so there’s really no point in taking the test if you can’t get quick feedback to see what you can do better the next time. The grade really doesn’t matter considering you can score differently on the same test, depending on how well you do on the test at the time. Sometimes kids would do anything to get a good grade such as cheating. The grading is just one of the reasons these tests are
