When I decided to go back to college my first thought was to major in Psychology and become a Drug Addiction Counselor. Once enrolled into my first semester of classes that decision changed, not because I did not like or was not interested in psychology. My goals for my future changed because of the time frame and the job availability for this field. I learned that most of the jobs available in this field required a PHD, I still feel that psychology should be required for every field of study.
Psychology teaches us how the mind works and gives a better understanding on how to interact with other people. Knowing how to interact with the people in your work environment and profession is very important not only at the beginning of a job but throughout the entirety of it. Having psychology as a requirement for every field of study will help in how we handle people in general. There are many different reactions to situations, each person handles things differently. Having a better understanding of this will make work and personal life easier.
Intro to Psychology is on my list of required classes, but that is not the only reason why I am taking it. I have always been very interested in how the mind works, why we do the things we do, mental illness, addiction, our memory, and much more. Our memory is something I knew little about, and it actually fascinated me. I have never been good at answering the question of “what did you do all day”, because in actuality the list goes on.

Psychological studies are mainly based on the direct observation of human behavior, rather than reasoning or speculation. Psychology is like any other subject- the majority of people have a very shallow and basic understanding of what the study involves, and yet they lack a crucial knowledge of the major struggles and disagreements among those who study it. It does not surprise me that psychology is one of the more popular majors available. By nature, it sparks human curiosity, especially as to what contributes to the system of our thoughts and the pattern in our behaviors. For the first eighteen
Taking a Psychology class has taught me a lot about others and myself. I have learned a lot in this class and the information I retained will stick with me for the rest of my life. The knowledge I have gained will help me in the future by allowing me to be a better actress, CEO, and mother. The most important topics I will need are Lifespan Development and Psychological Disorders. These subjects can be unknowingly important when crossing paths with other people.

“It takes a village to raise a child.” I never quite understood that saying when I was growing up, but my experiences teaching and working in school settings have showed me how true it really is. Obtaining a degree in school psychology will allow me to give the support that students, families and educators need to ensure that every student will thrive.
The first way that Psychology applies to my life is the Motivation and Emotion part of it. Motivation is what drives you to conduct some type of activity. For example if someone is thirsty then they have to get up go somewhere
My heart remains set on becoming a psychologist and I plan to accomplish that dream in the years to come. For now, I am taking an AP psychology class while I finish my senior year; I decided to get a taste for what the rest of my life will be like. Thankfully, this class has only cleared my vision for becoming a psychologist. I’ve learned that the term “psychology” itself is rather broad. There are many fields and subfields in psychology, not to mention there are psychiatrists and psychoanalysts as well. I’m not sure what field exactly I want to partake in, but I’m hoping that I will be able to make a choice when I attend CU Boulder in the
When I declared a psychology major during the second year of my undergraduate career, my objective was to attend medical school and eventually become a psychiatrist. I enjoyed the psychology classes in which I was enrolled and found them to compliment the premed curriculum I also wanted to study. I reasoned that a major in psychology would provide insight that could later be useful in my planned studies of psychiatry. Although I decided against going to medical school, psychology remained the primary area of focus of my studies with the ultimate career goal of becoming a clinical psychologist. While my long term professional plans include achieving a PhD and becoming a clinical psychologist. Pursuing a masters degree in
Psychology is a discipline that involves monitoring mental processes and behaviour scientifically. Psychologists try to delve into the basic functions of a person and animals cerebral activity. This usually involves studying relationships, emotions, personality and many more areas of a person or animals day to day life. Psychology tends to steer towards finding reasons for a person or animals actions in an attempt to resolve them.
Psychology has many different fields. But overall psychology is just the study of the human mind and its functions. You may be asking yourself, what’s the importance of psychology? Well psychology is extremely important for many reasons, such as diagnosing certain diseases, understanding more about who we are and why we do some of the things we do, or why we do them. Psychology helps us understand certain diseases, such as Alzheimer’s, schizophrenia, bi polar, and even Parkinson’s because of the fact that all these issues are linked to problems in different parts of the brain. With much more research we can begin to understand this diseases more and more, figure out what causes
Therefore, if I do not get ahead and take these classes as far as I can go, there is a high chance I will not be able to be a superb counselor. Finally, a solid knowledge of psychology is very helpful in furthering the career, if I were to not take this class, it would be much harder on me to understand clients stories. To illustrate, Kaplan University suggests to have at least a bachelor's in psychology in order to become an addictions counselor. Hence, without knowing anything about psychology, I might not be able to help patients or I might become a dud counselor. For all these reasons, I will need to pursue a higher education in math, alcohol and drug abuse, and psychology in order to become successful in the field of being an addictions
It is my strong desire to attend Fielding Graduate University APA (American Psychological Association) accredited doctoral program in clinical psychology. I have always been intrigued by the human mind for as long as I can remember, specifically the psychopathology of it. I truly enjoy conducting psychological research, learning about psychopathology and how to treat it. While conducting research and learning, it is important to remember that the purpose of psychology isn’t to predict a person’s thoughts, actions, and behaviors, but to understand them. There are dozens of events that occurred in my twenty-five years of life that led me to this meaningful choice of pursuing a doctorate. The two most significant events were when I was in the
Psychologists are very important people; they help millions of people with their everyday struggles and problems that they have to deal with. Not only do psychologists help people with problems that they cannot handle on their own, they also are scientists who study human minds and behaviors.
Psychology is a study of mind and behavior. Psychological research is mostly focused on the relationship between thought, behavior and emotion; how one influences the other and what are the consequences of such interaction. Put simply, psychology is a field associated with the drive to understand the way human mind works. The topic is slightly enigmatic, but at the same time very challenging and complicated. Where representatives of the exact sciences depend on data, facts and figures, psychologists tend to rely on behavior. Seeing that the majority of work done by psychologists is
