Even though it is unknown how effective taking pictures of notes are, it is a fast and easy way for students who would rather focus on what their teacher is saying, rather than to simply copy it down. Without note taking, forcing students to pay attention can cause a problem if the student gets distracted. This is because notes no longer keep that student on track.

Letting the students take over what they are learning puts them into the center “the student is supposed to responsibly choose what to learn, how to learn it, and how to be assessed. The teacher acts as a facilitator instead of a leader, making sure that the topics being studied meet the student’s needs, abilities, learning styles, and interests” (Gilstein). With technology, students have the ability to take charge of their learning and find out what helps them learn specifically “Students find enjoyment in creating and facilitating their education” (Gilstein). It is also enjoyable for the student to take charge, and is a new method to teaching opposed to a lecture. As technology has advanced, so has education. Most of the changes have been beneficial in the classroom, such as computers, Internet, tablets, smartboards, but others have also deterred education, such as the distraction of cellphones.
