Some people in the world think of America as a country only consisting of laziness, ignorance, and debt. As an optimist, I only think of the wonderful things. There are three main things that immediately come to mind when I hear the word “America”. These three things consist of freedom, opportunity, and technology. First of all, we have certain rights and privileges that make our country stand out from the rest of the world. In the first amendment alone, we have freedom of speech, religion, press, peaceable assembly, and the right to petition the government! Some countries around the world don't have half of those rights, so we should feel pretty fortuitous that we have that type of freedom. Aside from freedom, opportunity is also a word I
A land of safety, liberty, and pure happiness is all America standards. America provides a residency full of freedoms. It was a popular place to seek a new beginning. Many people came to the country to find something they had always longed for. They only saw America for its dream.
America to me is a place where others can come to live, a place of freedom for those who want a great life, where they can live knowing they will have a peaceful life. I appreciate and
America offers so much to the people who live in the U.S., but America will always be full of criticism, violence, and people who are offended by everything. America still seems to manage to be one of the world's best nations. The first Americans planned America to be as successful as it is, but for America to be more peaceful. America is not one of the most peaceful places, but it is not the most dangerous place to live. Even political parties lie and cheat each other. A lot of the Americans are greedy, because they take advantages of what America offers to their citizens. Even though America is not perfect I am still glad to live in the U.S.
There are many traits that a person should have to be considered a good American. First he needs to be patriotic. He should possess both a personal and moral Courage, have integrity, loyalty and honor, and demonstrate selfless Service. A man’s love for his country reveals a lot about his true self. Secondly, a good american should have respect. Respect for themselves, others and authority. He should always take responsibility for his actions, contribute to society and take initiative to make things better when he can. A good american should be content and grateful for what he has and always have compassion and forgiveness towards
Ishmael read does an incredible job of pointing out all possible notions that the people who were here before us are,our cause of success. Reed discusses passionately for the ideas and social behaviors that arrived in the United States of America before and after the first wave of European settlers.
In the speech “The Spirit of Liberty ”Learned Hand says, ”Liberty lies in the heart of men and women; when it dies there, no constitution, no law no court can save it; no constitution, no law, no court can even do much help.” I agree with Hand because if the people think they have no liberty and can never get it they won't fight for liberty. For me to be an American means to have freedom as a whole, equality, and justice. The most important Ideals related to being an American are equality, freedom and justice
Americans have been breaded to believe America is the greatest country in the world. America is a place of the freedom and possibilities, an outside looking in a very desirable place to live. However, America is not as great as Americans believe. Sure Americans have a wider range of freedom then most countries, but has plenty of issues that will repulse others from coming to the land of the free. Issues such as women’s rights, racism, and discrimination plague U.S. citizens nearly each day and that should change now.
What sets America apart from any nation in the world is that it never settle. America, at times, has had the tenancy to spent too long in the darkness of satisfaction and despondency, but never has it settles in shadows. Every single time America has fallen or been knocked down, it has never failed to rise from defeat. It may take months, years and even decades, but America never stops pursuing the perfection of the unparalleled ideals it was founded on.
In the essay “What’s so great about America” by Dinesh D’Souza, the India born author shares his experience while living in America. D’Souza first starts his essay saying “Here is a country where everything works”(D’Souza 237-238), everything from the highway sign to properly working public toilets. He also emphasized how overwhelmed an immigrant can find themselves while visiting a supermarket for the first time. D’Souza then compares America to most countries today that does not have the most basic of health care products like deodorant which “is unavailable in much of the Third World”. New immigrants and people all over the world are witnessing the lifestyle of the poor in America living well, other
America is a land of freedom and opportunities. Many people from all around the world travel to come live in America. These people do this because they might not have the same chances of being able have a better lifestyle in their other country. Having limited opportunities in your country is bad, which is why America provides uncountable opportunities that makes America a land of opportunities. Another example that shows that America is a land of freedom and opportunities is that freedom in America is great.
I also consider America to be a land of discovery and opportunity. A uniquely American idea is the notion that should a man or woman have dreams, they should pursue
For 70 years USA took the responsibilities of defending Europe. The resulting peace allowed the European leaders to neglect guns and butter their electorates, all the while badmouthing US for being too trigger happy. That peace lulled the Europeans into believing that history has come to an end. That all the great issues of war and peace have been resolved and leaders could now concentrate on regulating people's soda intake. Later when US elected a leader who promised to make US more like Europe, most Europeans cheered. Little did those fools realize that for Europe to be like Europe, America needs to be like America. If ever America tries to be like Europe, the first casualty will be Europe. Now as America withdraws and starts concentrating
Many say America is a land of opportunities, a land of freedom, a land where you can be who you want but don't know what it's really like because everything is sugarcoated. Frederick Douglass once
What do you think about when you hear the word ‘America’? Do you think of freedom, liberty, or rights? Most people will probably say something about freedom and rights because that’s what America is known for. There are so many gifts America has gave in my generations.
A lot of people take for granted how many amazing opportunities they have in America. They are told to go to church, or go to school, even if they may not want to. However, those are privileges and rights that Americans are fortunate to have that many overlook. The freedom that Americans have, plays a huge part in what America is known for. We are given the freedom of religion, freedom of speech and the freedom to own land.
