The ROTC program is going to be a staple for my future. First the main reasons that I wish to receive this scholarship are that it will provide money for schooling and help further my career in the military. This scholarship will provide me with a chance to focus more on my school work, and spend less time worrying about money to pay for school. The scholarship would also allow me to graduate without debt, that in turn would give me the chance to invest early and save for my future. The next reason why I would appreciate the scholarship is being able to become an officer right out of college. Becoming an officer would allow me to start my military career in a higher station, consequently, giving me the opportunity to further my career as far
In my spring 2017 semester Kean awarded me the Freshman Trustee Scholarship for exceptional high school scholastic achievements, such as acquiring a 3.71 unweighted GPA and scoring 27 on the ACT. Whilst having such strong potential for collegiate success, there is a significant demonstrated financial gap in my parents' savings, where I must allocate my job earnings, and the cost for me to independently pursue a college education. Although my brother is diagnosed with severe autism and ADHD, and will remain almost absolutely financially dependent on my parents for his entire life, my source of financial need stems from being the eldest of five. In two years 3/4 of my younger quadruplet siblings, who are juniors in high school, and I will all
The National Honors Society allows students to be build and create traits that are essential in a successful adult. I truly believe that hold many of these traits and joining the National Honor Society will grant me the opportunity to expand on these traits and grow as a person. Thus far I have focus greatly on the scholarship aspect of NHS and have been dedicated to my academics. I have held my GPA above 4.0 and have always been devoted to maintaining that high level of academic success. The skills I have shown in devoting myself to my academics can be easily translated into my dedication for the other aspects of leadership, service and character. Having previously held a officer role in the National Junior Honor Society I have gained experience
My father is going to retire in some years and my mother is a house wife. They both have invested in their house heavily therefore these reasons might affect my family’s ability to fund my college tuition.
First off Congrats on the promotion to a very distinguished rank, part of the elite officers of the Armed Forces. I know it is well deserved. I appreciate the opportunity I was bestowed to meet you and also having my spouse be a part of your leadership team. I wish the best for you and your family as you pursue the next leg of your military
Throughout high school, I have always been a part of high honor roll, and as a junior and senior, I have been a member of National Honor Society. Because I do not participate in sports, I have always been purely dedicated to my schoolwork and getting exceptional grades. Being in the Honors Program at LLCC would not only continue by achievements in academic honors, but help me grow in my goals and plans for the future.
One of the toughest group settings I have ever found myself in was Air Force ROTC Field Training. Field Training is a 5 week course for young college students in the ROTC program to learn how to become officers in the US Air Force and particularly how to lead people in a field setting. Our textbook defines leadership as the ability to influence a group toward the achievement of goals (Robbins & Judge, 2009, Ch. 12). Now, imagine yourself dropped into the environment I was put in. I am one of 400 or so cadets in this encampment, over one thousand miles away from my home. My only communication with my family or the outside world is via hand written letters. It is the middle of the Summer in Southern Alabama, and the heat is so intense it was melting the shoe polish off of my shoes. I am constantly being yelled at by military drill instructors about all of the things I am doing wrong. And now, I am suddenly tasked with being the flight commander for the 20 other cadets in my flights that all come from different backgrounds, and all of whom I am meeting for the first time. In this research paper, I will talk about a few of the core concepts that I feel I applied very well to help me be the best leader I could be in this situation.
I have been a part of JROTC for the past four years of my high school career. During my time in the program, I gained more self-confidence and was able to venture out of my comfort zone, which allowed me to join numerous clubs and organizations throughout my high school career. The clubs include the Chess Club for one year, the Environmental Club and AFJROTC Honor Guard team for two years, and Science Olympiad all my four years of high school. The organizations include the National Technical Honor Society for two years and National Honor Society for two years as well and voted Vice President.
The Adelburgers went head first into the cusp of a rather peculiar assignment, near the end of April. This late part of their assigned Sunday Morning Special involves the Adelburgers having the honors of transporting the lifeless cadavers of four Underground members, who wound up missing in January of 2015, to the Catholic School Underground leadership. The CSU will then return the bodies to the families, from which the deceased will be given a proper burial. Recently, the bodies were discovered in a secluded part of New Jersey, as well as underwent separate autopsies by a certified medical examiner from Iowa. Of course, as to how they ended up being killed in the first place, that is not an area for the Adelburgers to be asking their superiors
Even when I was young, I felt called to help others. When I was 10 years old, I approached my mom and told her that I wanted to help kids in Africa get food. I gave her my allowance and we sent away for 100 lbs. of rice and beans to be sent to hungry kids. When I was 13, I met a woman who had just returned from 9 months doing overseas mission work and serving others.
I did not want to go to college. Originally, I wanted to graduate highschool, and enlist into the Marine Corps at eighteen. That seemed to be the end goal in my life, and had been my dream for years. As my eighteenth birthday rolled around, and after many visits to Marine Recruiting Offices, I figured my life was set before me and everything was smooth sailing from there. I knew exactly what MO I wanted, how many years I would be in, and what I would do after the Corps. I decided I would get a Mechanical Engineering degree as soon as I had had enough of the adrenaline rush that came with the Marines. All of a sudden, everything changed. I recieved a call from a college wrestling coach, saying he wanted to discuss scholarships. Then I began to get looks from other coaches. I realized that maybe college was an option after all. So I began the process of applying,
Ever since I was a young kid I have always been interested in movies. My grandma, who was full of the wise the life experience left, always knew about my interest in movies. She feed my vain for the art. Even though her religion, she professed Adventist of seven-day religion, didn't let her go to the cinema, she always found the way to took me to the cinema. She and I enjoyed watch movies. We used to sit in the darkness room, with our faces illuminated from the reflection of the light which rebooted from the screen, both absorbs in the plot of the movie which made us laughed or cried. After the movie, while we went back to her home, she started to talk about the movie. She had a particular point of view where the main story
During my years of high school, I participated in numerous extra-curricular activities where I held several leadership positions such as: The National Beta Club, The Student Council Association, The Mayor City Youth Council, Sisters of Sophistication, Students against Destructive Decisions and the S.T.A.R.T program. Also, I laid eyes on my very first “high school crush” my junior year. He was a senior in high school preparing to graduate in 2012. He is no longer my boyfriend. His name is Damian Frazier. Damian and I had been going out with each other for four years. In addition to meeting him, my senior year in high school, I was elated to uphold the title and crown of Miss. Homecoming 2014-2015. That was one of the most memorable days of my
From a young age of eleven I would wake up early in the morning during the summer and I would not arrive home until the afternoon. I would open the main door and the process of cleaning would begin. My mother would make me vaccum, dust furniture, or clean the bathrooms while she cleaned the kitchen. After a few years the redundant process of arriving at the front door of the houses only to accomplish the constant motion of scrubbing back and forth made me yearn for a better lifestyle for my future. During the time I was cleaning I reckoned that the fastest way to finish cleaning was to work hard and not be lackadaisical. Additionally I learn that the most effective way to grow and gain skills was through mentorship. Although I loathed working
I think that I would be a great fit for San Francisco University because of its prowess as a school that cares about the community, great pre-med program and relatively small class sizes. The fact that USF has been recognized in the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll is extremely impressive. I would love to be a part of such a caring community and help contribute to the tradition of service. Furthermore, the great medical program matches my own academic interests because I hope to pursue a career in medicine. Lastly the small class sizes of about 20 to 30 is perfect for a learning environment. Most of the classes I take right now currently have about 20 students in them and I find it incredibly useful to be able to talk
I believe that I have the skills, experience, and knowledge necessary to make a good Junior Volunteer. I have experience caring for various types of animals. I've cared for my own pets, including dogs, cats, fish, mice, and gerbils, and I've also watched my friend's rats and my neighbor's cats while they were on vacation. Since my dogs and cats are family pets, I assume partial responsibility for them. This includes feeding, walking, and playing with them, and also cleaning up after them (for example, cleaning litter boxes). I also have been responsible for giving them medications in the past. In the case of my gerbils and former mouse, I have full responsibility. This means that I must clean the cage, feed and water them, play with them, and do all other tasks required to keep
