During this semester, I have learned a great deal about my own writing, and writing in general. One of the main takeaways from this course for me was how to break down the intricate process of writing papers. In addition, I developed viable skills regarding going into more in-depth detail during each step of the writing process. I enjoyed having the freedom to write about a topic that I was able to choose. This allowed me to research and write about something that actually interested me immensely. Having to work with one topic for the entire semester taught me how to find reliable resources and how to pick out the essential research from each article. When I corrected this citation, it looked like this: Jamieson, Jennifer A, and Laura Gougeon. “Gluten-Free Foods in Rural Maritime Provinces: Limited Availability, High Price, and Low Iron Content.” Canadian Journal of Dietetic Practice and Research, 11 Aug. 2017, dcjournal.ca/doi/abs/10.3148/cjdpr-2017-020 The annotated bibliography is the assignment that helped me the greatest while I was writing my research paper. For instance, going through and finding the best sources and analyzing them allowed me to find what the main points of my research paper should be. This also made writing the research paper easier because I had already written about what the main points were for each of the articles. With little editing, I could use the summaries of the resources in my paper. I used this method of finding resources for the added resources in my paper as well. This assignment also helped with the editing process and making revisions. Having the important research already written before writing my research paper made me read over what I had written to find what parts should actually be incorporated into my paper. I have been practicing on how to improve my writing over the past few weeks, which has taught me a great deal about writing. My teacher would like me to evaluate and explain my strengths and weaknesses in my own writing. This evaluation is in between my two essays. One on my own and another with my teacher's help. I have strengths and weakness in my introduction, body paragraphs ,and my conclusion.
While not a hugely transformative venture, I have found this semester to be a good vehicle for making my writing more accurate to its intended purpose. Prior to taking this class I did have some experience in professional writing for a few of the jobs I've had in the past, but this class organized those thoughts, gave them name, and pointed out where and how to pursue them. Its been an enlightening experience and provided me with tools I hope to use the rest of my life.

If not, the parenthesis would include the authors last name and page number, e.g. (Wordsworth 263). Additionally, there are many guidelines depending on the type of source, what information is available, etc. Therefore, it is best to research certain types of citations when you come across them.
I feel that I have improved my writing abilities during the course of this class. I am looking forward to applying the new found skills to future classes. One valuable tip I learned was to always read a paper out loud before turning it in. This has helped me to catch many errors. I had never thought of doing this prior to this class. It is an excellent tip because when you’re reading to yourself in your head you often miss errors. Once you read them out loud you can hear how things sound and will notice if something does not sound right. Putting the assignment away and coming back to it was also a great tip. I have found when I come back to an assignment I will notice a wrong word or punctuation that I hadn’t seen before. It also gives you a chance to really think on the topic and come up with more detail.
We are already midway through the first quarter of my last year as a high school student. I find it hard to completely grasp how quickly this year is passing and yet I feel like we've already accomplished so much.
I have trouble writing because my writing seems to be a little “tongue-in-cheek” as my AP English teacher said. (I have a couple unfinished examples that I will attach). I tend to not know exactly what I am trying to say in my essays. It is not that I am a poor writer per se; I just have an issue focusing my writing. I enjoy writing; however, I become engrossed in the way I want to present my ideas. Perhaps it is that I do not know the audience to whom I am writing. I usually use proper grammar and mechanics but that is definitely not enough to write an exceptional essay. In this course, I feel strongly that I will develop these skills. Another concern I have with writing is when it is timed. I have never performed well in a timed writing assignment;
As a recent Egyptian immigrant to the United States, writing is the most difficult subject. In 7th grade, my writing process started to develop with the help of an amazing teacher. Ever since 7th grade I have been practicing wiring to be close to the high school writing slandered. I reached my goal last year when my act writing score is 6 point which places me in English 101. I doubted myself so, I took the Accuplacer test which also, placed me in English 101. I was scared when I saw the results that I’m going to fail this course. After taking this course, it made me more confident in writing and showed me my writing level which needs more practice. This class helped me improve my writing skills, by getting great feedback from my instructor
To effectively revise and edit my research paper, I read it carefully, as I played the reader`s role instead of that of a writer. In addition, I used a number of strategies to effectively revise and edit my research paper. First, I read my paper aloud as I listened for errors. After carefully listening, I was able to identify and correct errors in my writing, including grammar, incorrect sentence structure, incomplete ideas, and incorrect punctuation. While reading, I could stop and rectify the mistake at the point where I could note it. In addition, I read each sentence at a time so that I could digest the structure and identify any error. Prior to the reading, I noted down the common errors I usually commit while writing such as the omission
I found that creating an annotated bibliography was incredibly useful and important in helping me organize my research. The assignment forced me to keep track of my sources. I like to scan through journals quickly and take notes on what information I'd like to revisit based on titles and headlines. My method is great for finding research, but the downside is that I can sometimes lose track of the properly cited source for the information. I think this is incredibly valuable because of the real problems that exist due to plagiarism.
Writing never really was my strong suit. I enjoyed doing math and science but when it came to writing, I wasn’t a fan of it. I would finish papers just to turn them in and get a grade. Once I got the grade back, I would just stash the paper away and not look at it anymore because I didn’t feel confident in them. There was only a few that made me feel amazing when I finished them.
This class has helped me to improve my writing in many ways. Though I do not manage my time as well as I would like to at the moment, I have evolved this aspect of my writing vastly. At the beginning of the semester, it took anywhere between two and four hours to complete an essay, and I would wait until the very last minute to even begin writing. I have learned how to properly manage my time in order to write my essays in a shorter amount of time. I have also increased my ability to find and present sources in an academic essay. Though I still need to polish my ability to present information without bias, I am able to find relevant information in order to further prove my point in an essay. Overall, this class has taught me many valuable things
I have improved as a writer greatly since the beginning of the year. Many great accomplishments have happened from just writing all the time and taking a greater look on how to improve writing. Since the First-Week essay and the Midterm Reflection, I have gained many skills that I can take with to college in the future. Also, I learned how to write conclusions, in text citations, bibliography and connecting the thought into another topic in the same paragraph better. Some of the skills I have gained through this course is the discipline to continue making progress on the essay, organization and not putting the project off until last minute.
Voice in writing is a tricky thing. All of my public education has taught me that to write with any hint of informality is a cardinal sin. Essays are respectable, formal. Kindly leave all that artistic rubbish to the novelists. This is not how I write. I have learned how to insert my unique perspective into my work and voice is a big part of that. My voice is what makes my writing my writing. While I was quite good at analyzing works coming into this class, when it comes to writing for an audience I really did come into my own during the semester. I also learned how to ask better questions and think critically on how I went about writing. Now, with a semester under my belt, I can confidently mesh different sources into my paper, write to an audience rather than at an audience, question my reality, and cultivate a writing process to bring it all together.
I thoroughly enjoyed this semester, I felt more comfortable writing papers, typing the papers in the correct format, and setting up the citations correctly. We covered a wide variety of information during this course including useful resource tools, websites, writing styles, critical thinking skills, emotional intelligence, and leadership resilience. I learned something every week that I can implement not only in my professional life, but in my personal life as well.
Writing is way that we can express ourselves, it is a way to interface ideas and thoughts and to prove a point. Throughout my writing experience or process I have struggled with writing especially using details or really expressing myself my work. In this course Facts & Fiction: Portraits in World Art I expect to gain more knowledge on how to write a perfect essay, story, letter, and assignment. I expect to learn new genres and rhetorical situations. I also think my writing will improve academically and I will develop my skills in writing. Also taking my writing to a different point of view, level, and writing something different rather than the usual. I look forward to getting feedback from my peers and learning their thoughts on my writing and how they can help me improve.
