After becoming a sister of a sorority, you automatically become a member of the Panhellenic Council. At Penn State there are 21 sororities, all overseen by this Council. I had been involved in student government in high school, so having a larger impact on this community was something that intrigued me right off the bat. Last year, the Council introduced a new position titled "Vice President of Wellness". The position is relatively new, with wellness only being acknowledged on a national scale within the past couple of years. My platform consisted of teaching the 5,000 women of the council how many resources there are available to them and educating them on the multiple sides of wellness: mental, physical and emotional. I have attached my stat
The role of a pi chi begins with a good foundation, which is developing the knowledge and appreciation of all the Panhellenic sororities on UTC’s campus. Being past Membership Education for my sorority, I understand how important it is to learn the specific details of the organization in order to fully appreciate it. Additonally, it is important for pi chis to develop a relationship with PNMs so they feel comfortable enough to have whole hearted conversations about their thoughts and feelings through the recruitment process without the fear of offending or feeling judgement from their Pi Chi. They also need to be approachable so all PNMs, not just in their group, can feel comfortable enough to approach them with questions, concerns, or just someone to talk to. A role outside of the PNM’s eyes is being able to work with people of different personalities, backgrounds, and Greek affiliations to be able to make the preparation process and recruitment week go smoothly.

Though I haven’t had the most involvement in extracurricular activities, I have been trying to turn that around. I joined FCCLA at the start of freshman year. FCCLA was an excellent experience to improve my leadership skills, as well as getting engaged with the school and community. This ranged from helping out with school activities, to collecting and organizing books to be donated to children, and crafting dog beds to donate to the Cedar Valley Humane Society. I ended up not resigning up for FCCLA the following year due to my dealing with a difficult death in my family. However, since then I have gotten stronger and want to expand my community involvement. For that reason, I joined Student Council after the end of my junior year. As a representative, I help in school activities and decision-making. Though I’m a newer member, I’m excited to be a part of the Student Council. I have also recently joined the Science National Honor Society. I was able to join this club because of my accomplishments in science. I doubled up biology and chemistry my sophomore year, challenged myself by taking AP Chemistry my junior year, and am currently enrolled in the Pharmacology Technician program at Kirkwood as a senior. I am eager to see guest speakers and have already signed up for a couple of community service activities in this
Since, arriving at Rowan University I became at-home with Rowan’s diversity and efforts to make an impact on not only its students, but the local residents living in Glassboro too. Early in the Fall semester, I tried-out for the school’s Rugby and Ultimate Frisbee athletic teams, and ran for the Student Government position of Freshmen class Senator. I was trying to find my niche at Rowan and I found it when I joined the Pre-Med, Medlife and Pre-health society clubs. In addition, I ran for another student government position, Senator At-Large. I was elected into student government on November 7th and since then, I have felt like an active member in Rowan’s community. I first learned that Residential Learning and University Housing was looking for students to fill new Residential Assistants positions in a Senate meeting. Additionally, I’m very keen in becoming a Residential Assistant.

First and foremost - my life is dedicated to the service of others. Through my time serving as Parkwood Beta President and the State President of the North Carolina Beta Club, I have understood the importance of a servant’s heart. I have had the honor of being Student Body President and Class President here Parkwood, and during my tenure I provided vital assistance and planning to events that included, Spring Fling, Winterfest, Powderpuff, Teacher Appreciation Week, dances, pep rallies; and, simple facilitation and leadership within the PWHS Student Council at large. Moreover, I have had the great opportunity of serving on the Executive Board of the PTSO for a few years now and served as the student liaison between the PTSO and the school. I had the honor of assisting with the Parkwood Pride 5K,
Sisterhood. Scholarship. Service. Self. Those are the four pillars of Alpha Delta Pi. The Panhellenic community all shares these foundational values and they are what make us different from all of the other campus organizations. They inspire women to lead with their daily actions and commitment to making their community a better place. One person who I know is dedicated to the betterment of herself, her sisterhood, and her community is Rachel Minter.
Coming from Cuba has exposed me to the difficulties people undergo daily due to economic circumstances. Globally, countless individuals live in grievous conditions. This is why, since high school and throughout college, I have been involved in several clubs, specialized in my career choice as well as in helping the community. A few of them include Pre-nursing and Physician Assistant Club, Student Government Association, and Phi Theta Kappa. These clubs offered me the opportunity of assisting diverse people while acquiring leadership skills and teamwork strategies. For instance, one of the most astonishing experiences was volunteering at the Women’s Breast and Heart Initiative. This organization made me a mediator in the approach of saving lives
As senior year approached, my list of responsibilities became more extensive- college applications, maintaining my high GPA, applying for scholarships, and graduation. To add to this, I decided to become part of the
This will help to make a positive impact on our families, schools, and communities. In order to Empower others, we first have to Empower ourselves. That leads us to our first goal as Leaders of America this year, to make the right choices and makes a positive impact within our families, communities, schools, and FCCLA. FCCLA is Empowering in two noteworthy ways. First, through the newly updated Student Body National Program Guide released early this past summer. The program guide is a peer education curriculum planned to help students learn and practice how to be healthy, fit, real, and resilient, Empowering them to make the best choices for their own health and assisting their families, classmates, friends, and neighbors to do the same. Secondly, through a strong membership recruitment campaign themed “Go For the Red”. The campaign and its recruitment information and posters, arriving in classrooms this past fall Empowers local chapters to take the top in boosting their membership numbers and enhancing their contributions to prospective members, thereby increasing the membership numbers, instructive contributions, and leadership opportunities of FCCLA as a whole, which will Empower the organization to reach new people and achieve greater
Throughout the course of my youth, I have been transfixed by the overwhelming urge to decipher the way others feel- continuously attempting to better the lives of those around me all the while bettering myself in the process. I have embraced this calling through my work in several public service organizations, most notably Children’s Trust and Health Initiative Project. Accordingly, FSU’s community of service oriented individuals greatly appeals to me.
For me, my Mother Culture was my family and friends. My philosophy paper was a stepping-stone for me. For the first time, I was able to listen to my own truths rather than basing truth on what others said was copacetic. This year is a continuation of my journey to find who I really am and what I truly believe in. The Freshman Executive Council would be a great opportunity for me to use my strengths and strengthen my weakness. Throughout high school, was a member of various outreach clubs on and off campus, including Girl Scouts of America. Throughout my career as a Girl Scout I have learned that it is rewarding to give back. To me, it will never matter how many cookies I sold, but how many lives I have changed and creating lasting friendships through my dedication to my community as a girl scout. As an Executive Council Member I can continue to give back to new community—the Hampton
In order to prepare myself for these goals, I have made sure to make myself a well-rounded individual while maintaining grades within well standards in order to get accepted into graduate school. In order to make myself a well-rounded individual I made sure to join many clubs and organizations, volunteer within the community, and to always work hard for my money. Some of the organizations I am involved in here at Fayetteville State University are ACS Club, Math Club, Bio Phi Chem, My Sister’s Keeper, Honda Campus All Star Tournament, and Black Feminist Scholars which I am the President of this organization. The volunteer work I have participated in has been through Black Feminist Scholars and My Sister’s Keeper, which has consisted of providing
While many of my peers stressed and sighed over having to complete this assignment, I looked forward to it. During this activity, I was able to experience first hand how diverse our campus is, I was able to tour the college, and most importantly, this activity required me to step out of my comfort zone and further strengthen my ability to interact with others. I took advantage of the resources available and participated in all of the workshops, events, and presentations I had the opportunity to. In brief, all events I attended were beneficial, yet by far, my favorite, and the most memorable, was Cookies and Current Events. Attending this event allowed me to have a better look at what is happening in the world around me. It allowed me to see different issues and events, issues many, including myself, due to busy lifestyle and hectic schedule, didn’t even realize are occurring. Completing my G.P.S requirement enabled me to become a more diverse person, it was influential to the utmost extent. I truly enjoyed attending the events and being able to experience everything Florida SouthWestern State College has to
The European Commission presented a proposal for a Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on April 26, 2006 regarding criminal measures aimed at ensuring the enforcement of intellectual property rights. After much discussion, the Council of Ministers adopted Directive XZY/07 by qualified majority on June 20, 2007. According to the Commission, the legal basis for the proposed Directive was former Article 95 EC (now Article 114 EUFT). The Commission sought to establish a harmonized, horizontal, criminal-law framework to ensure the enforcement of industrial, literary, and artistic property rights, and other similar incorporeal rights through the Directive. The Commission justified the proposed Directive saying it concerned the internal market and was prompted by the clear need for European-level action in this field.
