During my freshman year of undergraduate school, I received a D in general chemistry. I felt uncomfortable asking for help when I did not understand the material and was easily intimated by the abundance of upperclassmen in the course. I did not properly utilize the TA sessions or office hours from the professors. Because I did not have a strong foundation in general chemistry, I continued to struggle throughout my chemistry courses, receiving D’s in Organic Chemistry I and II. I felt shameful and embarrassed about my poor grades, and that self-imposed stigma followed me throughout my undergraduate career, and to some extent graduate school. When I retook Organic Chemistry II, I earned an A by studying more diligently and frequenting my
This unit does not introduce much new material. Instead, we expect you to integrate technical and theoretical knowledge acquired from study across your degree. We refer to two frameworks that may support you in carrying out this integration:
Pursuant to California Vehicle Code (40902), I plead not guilty by Trial by Written Declaration of the charges of CVC 22349 (b). I have paid the fine of $352 and have attached the receipt to the case as instructed.
I have also operated as part of a team, for example AUQA audits, scholarship allocations, and large IT projects. Having spent most of my career working in schools and faculties I am well versed in dealing with students, general and academic staff and central units. These include timetabling, graduation, prizes and scholarships, and student and academic administration. I have also provided support to academic staff as required, for example in invigilating assessment items (including online assessment), developing course and subject proposals, reviewing Turn It In reports for potential plagiarism, and enabling advanced Blackboard
The one idea that drew me to a liberal arts college was the ability to take a wide breadth of classes from all disciplines. I hope to receive not just facts and memorization out of my education, but applications to other subjects and even daily activities. A prominent example of this is my potential major, physics. To prepare for an eventual career in the scientific field, this semester I am pursuing research in physical oceanography. Also, I joined the physics club in order to extend my learning outside the classroom, in addition to using this club as an opportunity to seek out like-minded individuals who also share a passion for science.
Early in my sophomore year of college, I was involved in a three-car-accident. It resulted in me having a mild concussion and my home life was negatively affected due to the financial and emotional burden of the accident. It also affected my academic career, more specifically my advanced Organic Chemistry course. I managed to obtain a B in the course, and a B+ in the accompanying lab/recitation course. I was encouraged to switch out of honors Organic Chemistry and into a “less stressful” Organic Chemistry course my fellow peers were enrolled in by family members and faculty members. However, my love for chemistry and a challenge steered me away from taking the easy route. I remained in my Organic Chemistry course, despite everyone’s wishes.
This essay is a reflective essay on my learning development from a young age through to my current position as a University Student. I received an acceptance from a US MD school during the 2013-2014 cycle. However, as an international student, I was required to deposit all four years’ worth of tuition in an escrow account prior to matriculation, which I was unable to do. While I was aware of the escrow requirement prior to application, I was on track to obtain permanent residency during the application year per my immigration attorney, which would excuse me from this requirement. However, given the uncertain nature of the residency process, this did not, and is yet to, happen. My family and I had recently immigrated from India, and coming up with the escrow amount was impossible at that time. Loans were also only available on a yearly cadence, not for all four years at once.
The dreaded English 102. Could this be my final English course in my career as a student? I don’t know for sure. I still need to decide what my major will be in. There is something that I know for sure, that is, needing to take this class to move on. I am not certain how my time in this class will go, but I plan to work hard to get the best grade that I can. Hence, I have decided to get this out of the way now, I look to fine-tune my writing skills, and I expect this course to help me understand my writing style.

My journey to become a Counselling Psychologist began in 2008 when as a Life Coach; I had a self referral who suffered from anxiety over his forthcoming exams in his second year at university. I started collaboratively setting goals to manage his workload and set timetable into manageable chunks through asking him challenging questions so that e can start to think for himself. He had plenty of resources namely his family, time, books but he just would not settle into coaching which left me feeling I was inadequate as a Life Coach and started to doubt whether he could manage at all. As a life Coach I didn’t have a supervisor so had no one to maul this situation over with.

Different theories and ways of practising exist for counsellors, with reflective practice becoming more popular amongst practitioners. Dallos, & Stedmon (2009) state that for professionals working directly with people, such as counsellors, reflective practice has quickly developed into a fundamental component of training, and the best practice for creating successful outcomes. This essay will focus on how reflective practice is critical for professional life, and how the use of reflection and theory can be used by counselling practitioners to inform their practice.
