As I began to write my college essay, I had to think back about the important deciding factors in my life. Because I chose to write about prompt five I was encouraged to choose something truly impactful to write a good essay. However, it was not necessarily the topic I wrote about that made me learn something, but rather, the steps in doing so.
I started doing my college research back in October, 2017 and it was quit overwhelming. It wasn't easy for me to know where to begin, but my college possible coach helped me through out the process and that made it easier. The first step that I did in doing my college research was, looking for the location of colleges, size, cost and academic programs. When it comes to colleges, the location is really important to me because I really just want to be near home and still be able to live with my mom as the same time. I understand that the surrounding area can have a huge impact on your happiness and how comfortable you would be, so staying close to home would make me happy. And yes, the last eight weeks have definitely been a challenge intellectually in IDS 101. After the first two weeks of school, I seriously questioned why I would go back to school at fifty-one years of age for personal satisfaction. The days were long and I wasn’t sure I still had the self-discipline and determination that would be needed to finish. Over the last eight weeks, this class gave me numerous opportunities to hone my skills in critical thinking, research, and writing. This class has given me the necessary skills to continue toward completing my degree.
