On November 1st, 2007, Meredith Kercher was murdered with a knife in her apartment. She was found by Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito at 10 A.M. the next day. There are many sides to this case and very little evidence. Rudy Guede lived in the apartment under Kercher at the time of the murder. He claims that he was with Meredith when she was killed. They were hanging out in her apartment when he went to the bathroom and heard screams. He came out and claims he saw Sollecito and a silhouette that looked like Knox. Knox says she was with Sollecito at his house smoking marijuana the night of the murder. She later broke down saying she was at Kercher's house some of the night and then claimed otherwise the day after. Sollecito claimed that he was smoking marijuana at his house and his memory was so blurred that he doesn’t remember if Knox was with him or not. Out of everything that occured, Rudy Guede was sentenced with 16 years in prison for the murder of Meredith Kercher. The Amanda Knox case was a witch hunt against Rudy Guede, not only because of his race, but because Knox and Sollecito took the blame off themselves and put it on him. …show more content…
Rudy is an African American male that was at the scene of Meredith’s murder. He an Meredith had met at a bar that night and discovered that he lived in the apartment below him. They went to her apartment and Rudy went to use the restroom. He heard screaming and immediately opened the door and said, “he saw a man and he was 101 percent certain Amanda Knox was there” (Finn). He fled the scene and went to Germany after seeing her dead and thought that, "no one would believe him. He would be a Negro found guilty”
Q1: WHAT CHARACTERISTICS AND PERSONALITY TRAITS MAY HAVE LED THIS PERSON TO A LIFE OF CRIME?
A young girl was murdered on October 31st (Halloween), 2005. Brendan Dassey was accused of murdering the female photographer along with his uncle, Steven Avery. The pair were convicted on April 25, 2007 after a nine day trial Steven Avery, was charged by the local police decades before this for rape and attempted murder. After serving 18 years DNA evidence proved that he did not commit the crime and he was released. After being released Steven Avery filed a lawsuit against the county police department. Avery and Dassey argued that this was a “set up” by the police
Ultimately, Rudy is deported because he is deemed not-American by virtue of his brown body. His English, Dodgers hat, and knowledge of U.S. popular culture (as demonstrated by his knowledge of Death Valley Days and John Wayne) are completely ignored as signifiers of his Americanness. Instead, his brown body is taken as a more important signifier.

Amanda Knox is an American student who was studying abroad in Italy when was accused and convicted of murdering her roommate, Meredith Kercher, and was found innocent of the crimes after serving four years in an Italian prison. The scrutiny surrounding this case is one of media influence and how it set her fate. Knox was not able to get a fair trial in Italy because of the negative image the media painted of her. With no concrete evidence, people believed she was guilty because of the horrible and twisted opinions of her in the media.

The following eight years revealed police investigative failures and biases. With various appeals

I believed that Amanda knox is innocent, the reason is because the lack of evidence, it was not enough DNA, and the circumstances , the weaknesses.

November 2, 2007, was a very sad day due to the murder of Meredith Kercher. This is the day Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito lives were forever changed. This murder took place in Italy and through this case the Criminal and Justice Systems were found to be very different from country to country. This case specifically brought light how the United States and Italy are different when it comes to finding justice for committing a murder. These differences consist of an examination of justice, structure of the court systems and the use of evidence for conviction.
Amanda Knox by Brian McGinn and Rod Blackhurst documents the trial, conviction and acquittal of Amanda Knox for the murder of her foreign exchange roommate in Italy. The film includes interviews with her codefendant and ex- boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito; the attorney for the man believed to have really been the murderer; the man who led the Italian investigation and Amanda Knox, herself. From the documentary we learn that Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito were wrongfully convicted of the murder of Knox’s British roommate, Meredith Kercher. Amanda Knox does an admirable job of detailing the crucial facts of the case. The film, which often plays out like a narrative thriller, takes us back to the murder of Kercher in 2007 and does so with the use of police footage of the crime scene. It takes us through the ensuing media outrage, the false accusations, the trial and appeal, with contributions from those who were there. The film undeniably takes a pro-Knox stance because of how it focuses largely on its main characters, therefore illuminating how something like this can happen to anyone.

Despite Guede’s conviction, the case against Knox and Sollecito
The Amanda Knox trial’s public coverage and broadcast has often been criticized by American legal minds for lack of fairness, because there were allegations that the live commentators by experts could tilt the course of justice (Nadeau, 2010). In the U.S. criminal procedure, the jury swears not to be influenced by the public debates. In fact, the U.S. courts can issue an injunction to the media on the limits of their coverage and debates (Duggan, 1995). Some legal experts have always expressed dissatisfaction with Italian criminal procedure use to reform other international laws (Mirabella, 2012). Overall, the Italian criminal procedures consist of three main stages. These are the investigations,
For millenniums, art has been a way for mankind to visually and aesthetically communicate and convey their thoughts, emotions, and feelings amongst one another. Art is a tremendous tool that effectively allows individuals to express a certain idea or message onto a large, and sometimes global, platform—as in the case of artist Pablo Picasso. Through his artworks, Picasso gradually became both an influential artist and political figure within the 20th century, with his pieces touching on subjects such as suicide, death, and the destruction of war. An example of one of Picasso’s paintings that narrows in on a topic relating to the chaos and aftermath of war is called ‘Guernica’. Through its historical context, style and composition, and subject matter, ‘Guernica’, which arguably his most famous and well-known artwork, is an excellent exemplar that demonstrates art’s capacity for influencing and connecting to the minds and feelings of individuals, and
