At Sandwich Blitz our focus is customer satisfaction. Business for us is rapidly increasing and with the increase in the volume of customers, we must ensure the best customer service. The idea is for this system to decrease the number of errors we have encountered over the past few months. This new system will allow customers to input their own orders allowing staff to focus on preparing orders. With the new system, it will eliminate pressure as a result of preventing you from being overwhelmed with complaints about wait times or lengthy lines. There will be no waiting for customers to decide what they want to order or others complaining about them taking too long to place an order. The plan is to put the system into operation within the
Providing a self-check-out machine to save the customer’s time. Also, these machines will reduce the expenses that will be paid for the labours.
For instance, over a period of time the inter-arrival rates had a consistent trend overall but the service times for each customer did not follow the same consistency. The data collected showed transactions involving returns occupied more time, usually in the range of 1.5 to 2 minutes and sometimes more. Transactions that were less than 1.5 to 2 minutes were purchases-only. The environment of the checkout area was taken into consideration. The setup of products in the designated waiting area is a positive way to distract customers from actual waiting time. This arrangement also maximizes store profits as patrons are tempted to make impulse purchases. This was the immediate inherent explanation as to why only one check-out/returns line is used. Although there is a designated waiting area, if service times are slower than the arrival rate, the queue extends past the designated waiting line and blocks merchandise intended to be viewed by customers not in the queue. Blocking off merchandise and the visual image of a line extending past the designated area negatively impact the experience of a customer and the decision to wait in line. The loss of a customer is associated with a cost to Winners. Therefore, for every customer that leaves the system before they have been serviced represents a cost to store management in addition to operating and waiting costs. For this report, only the
At this particular location Dalman has been informed by one of his location managers that they are in violation of new local health codes. On a very small portion of land each Sandwich blitz is located. Lower operating expenses for the business was considered by Dalman and Lei and they say the small portion of land as a competitive advantage. The new local health codes says that the location of their out building and the trash and dumpster enclosures and in violation of their codes. The government inspector proposed a deal with the location manager that if he would be willing to provide food for his department’s holiday party he would overlook the violation. The location manager has then told this information to Dalman. After reviewing the
Dalman Smith, President and CEO and Lei Lee, Vice President and CFO of Sandwich Blitz, Inc., are considering a large scale expansion for their Organization. Lei has found out that two new similar companies will be opening soon and are going to be a direct competition for them. If they expand on a larger scale they would have to open up in other cities and they only have enough resources to open two more stores. Also, the economic decline has dropped the occupancy rate of larger office buildings, which in the past were great locations for. The strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT Strategy) of a large scale expansion will be discussed.
Dalman recognizes that both he and Lei are spending too much of their time resolving issues within Sandwich Blitz while they can be focusing on taking it to the next level. Dalman has been addressing manager operations concerns, and Lei has been concentrating on the financial matters. Dalman feels Sandwich Blitz is growing more successful, although there is still some issues that need to be addressed. Dalman has heard of other businesses using a team approach to managing which have yielded positive results and is curious if this approach could help the location managers. Self-managed teams should be implemented into Sandwich Blitz to permit Dalman to devote more of his time to growing his and Lei’s business. A self-managed teams is an Autonomous work group in which the employees are taught to do all if not most of the jobs in their unit, they have no immediate supervisor, and make decisions that were formerly made by a frontline supervisor.
In prior meetings, we discussed opportunities to increase Sandwich Blitz, Inc. Franchise locations and expansion were the two growth tactics we considered. Looking at our two options and whichever direction we decide, creation of a new position between you, the CEO and location managers is needed. The phases and levels we are about to embark will require an exceptional amount of time for preparation and planning. It will also allow you to focus more on the business insights, development and issues, if there be any.
The head cook is planning to aggressively improve the existing line in the future. Immediate plans are larger model Sandwich Express, which will include a greater range of sandwiches and varied product lines, such as pizza. Other products are in the exploratory
point of sale system. The POS system is a perpetual inventory counting method that electronically records items immediately upon their point of sale (Stevenson, 2015, pg. 552). In other words, as a cashier scans a customer 's groceries, each scanned item is automatically recorded in the system and deducted from the store’s inventory. Implementing a point of sale would benefit a business’s inventory management function in several ways. First, the POS system will provide managers with a continuous flow of updated information (Stevenson, 2015, pg. 552). As a result, the information will provide more accuracy when used for sales forecasts and analysis, which substantially affect inventory decisions. Continuously, this inventory system would also allow greater flexibility in the sense that it can be wirelessly linked to the main company’s inventory system, creating a network of the company’s inventory systems. The POS system is capable of tracking many operations at once and can be modified according to management’s needs (MacCarthy, n.d.). This flexibility would undoubtedly benefit a large company like Wegman’s with many store locations. Lastly, the system is able to help businesses maintain a high level of customer service. Because the system gives customers a receipt with the price and quantity of each item purchased, the customer is able to see exactly what he or she purchased. This practice
Dalman and Lei are managing an issue with respect to their technologic headways. Dalman and Lei are managing weight to embrace this new innovation and execute it in a short measure of time. With an increment in clients leaving troubled with the administration they got. Their workers are not able to appropriately satisfy the greater part of the requests coming in which, thusly is thinking about contrarily the Sandwich Blitz. The lapses that are being made will inevitably roughen their notoriety, alongside the likelihood of needing to close down the business.
I believe this is a great idea as it looks to solve two problems at the same time, customer wait times and accuracy of the order. Sometimes companies over do it with technology but this idea is simple and seems to be very well thought out. The idea is also congruent with our chapter on innovation and creativity where one of the sections mentions always looking for opportunities (DuBrin, 2013). In this case Panera was looking for ways to provide the customers better service and reduce bottlenecks to that service at the same time. Most of the best innovations are slight improvements to existing processes. For instance Panera already had an application for Android and iPhone for ordering food what they were able to do is find a way to integrate
There are some restaurants and fast food locations that currently do not deliver. We plan on expanding to that market that has so far been neglected. We would like to pick up orders that are placed to our food delivery company and we can pick up the food and bring to you in a timely manner. We would also add grocery service to our business. You will be able to give us a list of items you need at certain grocery stores and we will do all the work for you. Using our application will make this very simple by searching for products and clicking on the box next to it to add to your cart. Once you are ready to check out you will have a one click option to pay and set a day and time for your products to arrive. Not only will you be able to call or use our application to order food but now you will be able to track each driver using our application to know a delivery time that is close to exact and how many deliveries remain. No longer will there be a window of 4 hours of delivery times.
The Sandwich Shop case study is focused on the opportunity of a father to help his recently graduated son to glean entrepreneurial experience from a possible business venture. This business venture consists of starting a small sandwich shop that tailors to the students of a nearby college. Students of the college would be able to stop by for small meals in between classes, relaxed reading, or intellectual conversations. Cecil, the father, is a local businessman who does not need the extra money for supplemental income, will provide a limited amount of risk capital to kick-off the business venture in hopes that it can sustain itself in the future. The remaining two thirds capital needed would be provided by venture capitalists. The problem is, how would the possible failure of this business decision affect Cecil’s son who is just starting out in business?
This will give a company a better sense of ordering inventory for each location. Kim Nash (2013) talks about how fast food companies are creating an experience by connecting their ordering system along with your personal devices. The information that is collected can be used to analyze transaction and create convenience for you as the consumer.
Nowadays the technologies play a very important part in our lives. For Sushi King, they are using the conveyor system to show the quality and hygienic sushi. (sushi king, 2011) Some restaurants provide online table reservations, online orders, phone orders using new payment methods through the latest technology. This will increase the efficiency and organization of the restaurant. Besides that, some other fast food outlets using “tablet” to do the orders which Sushi King’s outlet does not have. This can be accomplished through connecting the restaurant’s website to some form of online reservation system. After that, the host will use the tablet to check out on the scheduled client. This allows the restaurant to maintain their computerized management system. This is the method they used to ensure that their business is efficient and successful. Meanwhile, some outlets are still using waiter to take order from the customers. This method has a low efficiency compare to machines. Therefore, some of them may face the failure of business in the end. (Vardy,
