For Claudia Cifolelli’s Senior Project, she provided service for the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya, Africa. This organization provides a safe haven for injured and orphaned elephants that have been victims of the illegal ivory poaching throughout Kenya. In order to help raise money to fund this organization, Claudia organized a silent auction containing art pieces related to wildlife made by students and alumni from Natomas Charter School and other local artists. The money she made went to the Medical needs of the Elephants in Kenya.
When Claudia asked me to participate in her senior project, i immediately said i would help her out. I took a look at the other pieces that she had already received and i was amazed. Klaude’s piece was by far the my favourite. I then got to brainstorming ideas on how I can implicate wildlife animals into my style of painting. I went through weeks of

I would draw out the silhouettes of 4 Different animals and use different colors for each of the canvases. I then ran across another problem, what animals could I draw and what colors should I use to paint. I started to use the original sketches I had, a wolf and a deer, and started painting while also mixing together colors that i thought would catch the viewer's eye ; and because i was fairly low on paint, i had to use some of the paint from the painting of the wolf silhouette on the painting of the deer silhouette. After I did the two paintings, I knew it wasn’t finished. The two canvases I painted looked too lonely. I needed to paint at least two more but i was stuck, staring at an empty canvas that was waiting to be filled with colors. I started to sketch out an elephant, the main focus of this whole project, and started to paint with more vivid and brilliant colors that caught my eye while i was mixing paints. As I was painting the elephant I realized that elephants aren’t the only wild animal who is being poached for their horns. In the middle of
Throughout High School past students, teacher, and fellow scholars have told me to “Start thinking of a Senior Project Idea”, for me, at least I feel I’ve heard this remark since I was a Freshman. So I did, I thought and I thought, but it always seemed like I just kind of saw someone else's project and said to myself “ok, I’ll do that”, but I had come to recognize that I don’t want my project to be like somebody else, I want my project to be unique. When I started brainstorming my project I wanted to something with sports Baseball or Basketball, whichever one I could really think of a powerful meaningful idea. To be honest when I first started to brainstorm ideas I guess that I felt more that the idea was going to flow to me, but then I realized that I had to reach out and seek opportunities
I’m writing this memo because I believe the best way to donate one billion dollars is to fund the construction of a science and technology museum in the Detroit inner city. This museum will not only provide a safe learning environment but also foster a passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in disadvantaged students. This museum will feature a program that will fund student research and products. This museum will create a safe place for students to study and learn about STEM, that is why I am placing it near Northwestern High School in Detroit. I will evaluate success using test scores from Northwestern because students in this district have very little access to academic resources. I will be donating this money for 3 main reasons:
When I think of a senior project, I think of an educational opportunity that help students obtain adult-like skills, interests, and hopefully, maturity. Also, it’s a form of expression for most students, because it’s their chance where they can show and demonstrate what they’ve accomplished throughout their experience with their topic. As I mentioned before, it helps students obtain interests but also helps them acknowledge others and expand their minds to new possibilities or opportunities. I also think that senior projects are beneficial for a student's future because if they worked hard enough on their topic, and chose to pursue it as a career, they could have their senior project as a listed experience to set them aside from other applicants. Even
The summer of sustainability theme was a success; the effort was support by a $951,000 dollars sustainability grant. The “Reused+Recycle=Art exhibit, had members, showcase their artwork, and they had to use at least 80 percent of recyclable in their sculptures or paintings. Below is an feature painting made form recyclable items, it is an recreated of “The Great Wave”
On my first week beginning my Senior Seminar project I met with Nathan Cox so we could to the pre-test. The pre-test is used to measure growth in each muscle group, tests include: push-ups, leg press, preacher curls, cable tricep pushdowns, weighted planks, machine shoulder press, and barbell deadlifts. Cox also took my waist, chest, bicep, thigh, and calf measurements so we can compare them at the end of the program. Cox gave me a list of workouts to do on the days when I go to the gym without him there. I worked on shoulders and abs with Cox’s guidance, we did Barbell Punches (3 sets with increased weight and decreased reps), and two Tri-sets of: Leg Raises (15 reps), Weighted Sit-ups (15 reps at 10 lbs), and Russian Twists (20 seconds with 10 lbs).
I can relate to this article to my own experience, when I was a senior in high school the senior project was very dull but it was important my senior year. If you wouldn’t do it you wouldn’t pass English 12 meaning you wont graduate. I still remember when Mrs. Marsh would explain it I would basically fall asleep. I felt like if she would make it seem more interesting it would catch my attention. I also feel like if the teachers don’t make an assignment fun usually the students think its dull and won’t even pay attention and complete the task. Since it was an assignment that was important I used self-transcendence by making my personal progress in the senior project because it was my goal to finish the assignment that was important in my English
This semester-long project helped me understand and interpret similarities and differences among and between individuals, cultures, or societies across space and time by having me go face to face with the individuals, with the cultures or societies, over a great period of time in my community. I was exposed to people of different cultures and saw how they could have similar opinions of the same subject. I also saw how people of the same culture had different opinions. I can tell by age how much today’s generation tends to have certain beliefs than those of a different generation. These experiences I would not have been able to gain while sitting in a classroom being lectured. Although I do enjoy it very much.
During this part of my senior project, I had many struggles. I procrastinated too long, I got sick one too many times, I did not ask the teacher whose class I was going to present to if I could present early enough so I got points off on my project. I spent almost all of my free time working on this project, including a lot of money. My product cost the most out of this whole project, I had to pay for the paintball and the camera used which cost a pretty penny. The things that took the most amounts of time were, the driving, the editing, the mentor visits, writing the papers, making the simulation, and doing the project in general. Some of the good things I have done this far into the project are, I have found a mentor, I got an interviewee
This piece of art creates controversy over the use of animals in art because it is a live exhibit, which showcases a dog chained to a wall and deprived of food and water. Although Vargas has a meaningful message behind her work,
For my senior special project, I would like to work with Dr. Chadha and code research throughout the semester and then write a paper based on the findings of the research. Previously, in the 2016-2017 school year, I was Dr. Chadha’s research assistant and I had the responsibility of reading the discussion board posts of her class and then coding the responses into an excel spreadsheet in which we recorded whether the students were being reflective, if they used classroom ideas, if they posed honest questions, and many other variables to get a sense of how students reacted to the discussion questions. I would like to mirror the work I did that year for my senior project. In addition, I will write a paper about online collaborations and discussions
For my senior project I’ve working on making a garden at Inderkum. It’s been a challenge, but isn’t too bad. Since the beginning of my junior year in high school, my good friend, Ruby, and I have discussed wanting to grow some plants here at Inderkum; since there was no designated spot or existing garden, we decided to try to make one. I won’t get to enjoy it for so long since senior year is almost done, but having a garden spot available at is something I would have liked coming in to inderkum. I’m hoping that people next year would enjoy having a spot ready and available too.
I place a bucket of water, paper, a palette, a paper towel, and paintbrushes on the table. I carefully mix the colors, making sure to represent each tone of the subject I am painting. Serenity washes over me like waves upon the dry shore as I dip my brush into the brilliant paint and sweep it onto my canvas. My mind flows through my hand onto the painting. I place the mixture of browns, yellows, and whites onto my hand-drawn outline of a little girl’s face. She is sitting next to a watering can with a curious gaze in her eyes. She wants to reach for the can. I meticulously layer the colors, making sure to place highlights on the forehead, cheeks, and nose.
